Soooo, I got a fighter fish! I’ll post a picture below, but he’s blue and black, and he’s a crown tail!  I love him! But of course, he can’t just be ‘My blue and black fighter fish!’ Because he needs a name! And you guys helped me name Apollo, so maybe you can help me name the fishy fish too?

I was thinking about Jupiter but I’m not sure!

Definently a Jupiter. Is he in a 5 gallon tank with a heater and is the tank cycled? (Sorry I’m a fish nerd as well as a rabbit nerd)

I’m a fish nerd too! Lol and Jupiter seems to fit him really well. He looks like a Jupiter to me I also have a betta I’ll post a picture real quick but I need to get on my laptop. He’s a halfmoon and he’s with my community tank haha

He’s actually white but the light in my aquarium made him look pink. The picture also makes him look pink but he is like a translucent white.

Your betta actually looks like he is capable to fight and mine looks all dainty lol!

Wow, he’s stunning. I think Jupiter is fine — he won’t really come though when you call his name :~)

I agree with the above posts. Jupiter is a great name for him and also there is a betta fish forum http://www.bettafish.com/

When I had a betta I would go on there. I thought about getting another one but I really didn’t want to fuss with cleaning the tank and whatnot. That forum has great info about betta’s.

NBO – your betta is so pretty! And a rare colour too! There was an orange one at the pet shop, I was in love with it, because my room will be orange soon, but he wasn’t very healthy at all. His fins were all ripped and torn and he was skinny and laying on the bottom of his little jar, not moving. I didn’t have the money to buy the medical water fish stuff to fix him, or I would have! But then I saw Jupiter, and he was the only crown tail left after my friend chose hers. So I picked him! And I’m glad I did, he’s so cool!

Sarita – Hahaa! He still needs a name! I’ve read somewhere that they learn faces though, if you’re there often enough, and he’s in my room, so I’ll be pretty much the only one he sees… so maybe he’ll learn who I am? Lol!

Amy – I’ll go check out that forum! Yea, I have to clean Jupiters tank every 4 days. But it’s okay, because it takes maybe…5 minutes to fully rinse everything and fill it all back up. Not long really!

I wasn’t very good at looking after fish, they always got stuck in the filter and could only swim in circles
I like the name Jupiter, I think the colours remind me of a planet too.

I swear my betta hates life. He has horrible fins for no reason at all. I’ve tried several times to medicate and they never get better and all he does is lay around on the bottom till food comes. Half of the people that see him think he’s dead.

I used to have a betta and small frog living together.

Mine is still good to go but I think the main reason why is because he is in a 30 gallon tank and he doesn’t like going all the way to the bottom. When they are at the bottom their fins rub up against the gravel. He stays at the top and hangs out on the plants

I used to have a sunset gourami that tried nipping him so he got kicked out of the tank. I HATE nippers! I like the aquarium because its relaxing but I stress when I see someone making the other fish stress so I got rid of him and now everyone gets along

I plan on upgrading my tank to a 55 gallon one day. I can’t wait! . I never named my betta… Maybe he should get a name too I really like your bettas rich blue color with the black front like that. Seems to blend together really well

Oh! I’m a betta person too!!! I have two “King” bettas, whatever that means lol. Leviathan is the first fish pictured below and he is actually pretty huge. He’s 4 inches from nose to tail, but Roku (the other fish) is only 2 inches from nose to tail. Leviathan now has the devided tank to himself and I took the divider out. It’s an NPT and is soil based, so the tank runs itself. I clean it about once a month. I have a 20 gallon community tank that Roku lives in and I have to clean it each week to keep Nitrates at the proper lvl and keep fish poop out Both the fish are hard to get pictures of because they love to swim fast. I have more pictures of Levi because he loves the camera but this is my favorite even though it’s blurry.

Levi Flaring for the camera. (He only has snail friends because he chases everything else )

Roku is of Wild Type coloration but you can’t tell from the pic. He looks a lot brighter with his buddies in the community tank. He absolutely LOVES being with other fish.

Better pic of Levi the loner.

Everyone has such pretty bettas I have wanted a fish for so long, I never liked Bettas cause they always seemed boring when I would go to like walmart or something. When we went to petco to get bunny food and toys I seen their bettas and they where so much more active even in the little tubs. I never knew that they needed fliters and stuff though until I researched it. I got a small 5 gallon tank cause we dont have room for a huge one but its got a filter and he seems quite active and happy. I didn’t name him though, most of the time I just call him “Blue fish” lol

NBO – I think you’re fishy looks like a Blizzard! Or a Galaxy! Idk what my issue is with space…my bunny is named after Apollo, the first spaceship on the moon and now my fish is called Jupiter!

Unknownphoenix – I think your fishy looks like a Pluto :3

                                      Again…space phase, don’t even ask! >_< haha!!

You would be surprised what petcos bettas arrive in! I used to receive the fish and the bettas come in a tiny MAYBE 4inx 4 in) completely sealed baggy with about 2 table spoons of blue water. They put something in the water that increases the oxygen content in it, causing the water to turn blue. The water is so minuscule that sometimes if the betta get sloshed around in delivery it will get stuck in the opposite corner and suffocate because there wasn’t enough water and he left the one corner of the baggy that had water but the baggy got bent and he couldn’t get back in out of 50 bettas only like 3 or 4 wouldn’t make the long trip though. They are very tough fish!

I agree with the others, that Jupiter is a great name. (In astrology, the planet Jupiter is the symbol for good luck and expanded happiness).

The only two names that came to mind were very obvious: Rocky (fighter) and Neptune (god of the sea). How common are those, right? Stick with Jupiter.

I have two bettas too! Mine are in small non-filtered tanks for now. I might set up my 10 gallon with a divider for them soon. It is just hard finding the space since I have my 60 gallon tank, bunny cage, and 3 bird cages too.
This is my newest one, Flounder, in his Little Mermaid inspired tank:

My friend and I saw him out on a shopping spree and I loved his color so much that I couldn’t resist buying him.

I also have Chuck Norris, but I don’t have a pic of him at work with me. He is a blue/red one with lots of purple tones. Yes, there is a story behind his name. I got him home and set up in his tank on the same stand that I have my 60 gallon on. I turned away to get something from the livingroom when baby Gypsy decided to go investigate. She stood in front of the tank, wrapped her paws around the front and with all her might pulled the tank back. Both went tumbling down: Gyps landed on her back with the tank against her stomach but quickly zoomed off. My husband was standing a couple feet away when it happened and quickly rushed to grab Chuck Norris. I thought for sure he would die, but to my utter disbelief he was ok. After dropping about 4 feet under a bunch of rocks, losing his water, and then having off temperature, non treated tap water quickly filling around him. To this day I still don’t know how Gypsy managed to pull the tank down like that…she was so much smaller than the tank that it defied the laws of physics. After everything he went through, he had to be named Chuck Norris. And since that day, my bettas have gone back to living on my bathroom windowsill.

Yeah, Jupiter is in a 2.5litre at the moment, but I’m saving up for the 5 litre one I saw at the pet shop…it came with a filter and I’d just have to buy the heater. But I just lost the job I had so I don’t have any more money coming in, and I need to put $120 aside for Apollos wood for his condo. Which sucks, but Jupe’s okay. He’s a surprisingly hardy fish actually, I was scooping him out of his little cup I pop him in while I clean his tank, and he flipped and fell onto the kitchen counter. I quickly scooped him up and plopped him back into his tank, and he was okay…but it didn’t half scare me! >_< I really wanted an orange coloured one, but the only one in the store looked really sick, and I didn't bring enough money to buy medication as well as the fish. But Jupiter is cool
