  I learned about Hoppy Hour from a BB Post recently – and would love to take my buns to a similar event in the Chicago area. I checked with the HRS of Chicago, and they have not yet arranged a similar event here. Does anyone know of any upcoming organized bunny play dates in the Chicago land area?

  Yes NBO – for some reason, I could not log in …and it didn’t recognize any of my usual passwords. I couldn’t get my password sent to me…so now I have a new account.

  On topic – I don’t really understand events like Hoppy Hour. Are the bunnies less aggressive because they’re in a neutral place? I would still think some bunnies might fight? I would also be concerned about disease/illness being passed around.
  
  I could be totally misunderstanding what Hoppy Hour type events are though.

  From what little I’ve read up on them – if there’s an overly aggressive bun – they get separated by an Expen….but they said that since there’s so many buns, there’s little issues with aggression. If a bun doesn’t like the bun near them – they just move along. But it looks like so much for for the buns to play together.   I take mine to a small bunny Meetup and we have it outdoors in a park. Usually only my female is a little “aggressive” but everyone else is fine and that’s just her normal behavior. If there are any issues, we give the troublemaker a time out in their own pen. Some bunnies actually stick together and cuddle. Most of us are knowledgeable enough and take good care of our buns. I guess we don’t have a requirement that the buns see a vet and be fixed; should though!
  
  When I took mine to BunnyFest to the play area, my bun got kicked out for sneezing =( even though he’s perfectly fine; maybe I should carry around a notes from all the vets we’ve seen.
  
  Bunny playdate is one of the first things I looked for when I got my buns; I just google’d and searched meetup. I feel bad that they are indoors all the time so I try to take them out when I can.

  When you take them to the park – are they enclosed by Xpens? Or are they free to roam? I’d be so afraid that they’d take off.

  I love watching those Hoppy Hour vids. Pretty cool watching how social they can be.

  Yes, in xpens. Some people have their buns on leashes but I know there’s no way mine can wear a leash.
  It was nerve wracking at one park because at the end of our meetup, someone had their dog unleashed and couldn’t control their dog. The dog wasn’t necessary aggressive but was big and too curious. Won’t be going to that park again but if anything like that happens again, I may spray with mace! The other parks were very quiet parks with no one else around.

  I’ve never seen anything like that here but I’d love to take peeta and Polly to one of these if we had them around where I live but I’m pretty sure we don’t.
