Are these fleas??? I’m sitting outside while J&R gallivant and noticed these things all over the pavers.

They jump but don’t have wings as far as I can tell.

        Aphids?

I’d hate to have a flea infestation in the yard. That would be so difficult to treat.

Having trouble getting photo up. Hopefully this link works instead.

I’ve never seen a bunch of fleas like that, not on an animal, so I’m guessing they are not, but I’m not sure.

I can delete this thread if you want.

In Australia, YES, they probably are fleas… We had a shocking run with them here in Perth not long ago and I remember flea plagues in Sydney and Melbourne. When I was a child it was so bad you had to take off your shoes outside and step in a basin of malawash before coming in. Mum had strips of flea collars cut up and laid about the house. The animals were treated and kept indoors. They get in the sand particularly, not beach sand, sandy soil. The problem here wasn’t resolved until the area had been sprayed repeatedly and the house that they originated from stripped of carpet and retreated twice. We are coming into flea season now so it will only get worse.

                Nooooooo!
                Roberta! Don’t tell me this!

Shouldn’t we (me & the buns) be itching crazily though?

Not necessarily. They don’t always bite people. May want to keep the bunnies in and treat them, before they get an infestation.

Not necessarily Jersey, as MB they will favour animals over humans to start with but if they are allowed to build up in the numbers they will start to bite anything and every thing… Its one of the reasons I am working towards a carpet free house.
You could start by washing your patio down with some natural remedies to deter them from crossing. Keep outside shoes that you wear in the garden outside. Keep door mats so any traces of sand and dirt are scraped off feet or shoes that do go in the house and start vacuuming relentlessly.

You might want to Google Flea Plagues. We actually had bubonic plague in Australia as recent as the 1900’s, thankfully a small quickly controlled outbreak although there were concerns of a second outbreak in 1929 that did not eventuate. The plagues have been cyclic and the most recent city infestation seems to be 2011 in the Eastern States.

I just wanted to add to the evil of fleas. They found squirrels carrying fleas with bubonic plague this past week in California. I know it’s not around your side of the world. But I do worry that if it cropped up there it may spread to other places or have originated from somewhere else.

I don’t want to google flea plagues

I was going attempt get better pic if these bugs were still about today but we had a big down pour. Can’t I just stay in my bubble and pretend they were all washed away?
