I had a Dutch rabbit that was extremely vocal. He would snore, he would grunt, he would make noises when he chewed, he would thump – just overall noisy little rabbit. Some rabbits just are more noisy than others.

However it’s a good idea to get an exam – if you feel concerned then doing bloodwork won’t hurt either. How old is he?

I can’t say I like the sound of drooling…
Maybe he breathes with his mouth a bit more then he should? Or has active saliva glands. A checkup sound like a good idea.

One of mine makes grunting/honking sounds when she runs around if she’s really excited, so he could just be vocal.

Not sure about the drooling. I would say teeth, but you said they were already checked. Can’t hurt to get a blood test done if he’s never had it before.

Drooling sounds concerning. I would have them to a double check on his teeth. Maybe they did a quick check but that just sounds odd… My mom has a stray cat at her house that starts drooling like crazy when you pick her up and rub her neck. It’s like a downpour and we just came to the conclusion that she gets really relaxed.

Does drooling happen at certain times? When do you notice it most?

As for being noisy… Some bunnies are just more vocal than others. Harley is a big honker when running around. He also alarms me when my husband forgets to close the bathroom door because he goes in there and honks and thumps until I go kick him out and close the door.

But with a new bunny it’s always hard to tell what is normal and what is cause for concern. For your peace of mind I would definitely ask for another wellness exam to make sure everything is a ok what one vet misses (like a tooth exam) another one may see. Hopefully it’s nothing and you just have quite the character on your hands!
