Hi my bunny people!!
Boon and Phenom’s mom here. I am excited to announce that we finally found a little guy to raise side by side with Phenom so that she slowly warms up to him as he grows up and vice versa. We were not having any luck with the shelter buns because Phenom has behavioral problems and needs more of a longterm “treatment” with bonding, which the shelters ca’t provide, so I had to imporvise.
So the little guy was weaned, and he is still very young…. so tiny….but he is of weaning age and such. He eats like a little piggy, and I think that’s a good thing for a baby?
He’s a purebred Dwarf Hotot but he is is mismarked. We named him “Kai,” which means Ocean in Hawaiian– something I have been yearning to visit soon, and Kaikaia in Hawaiian means “little brother”– cause he looks a lot like Boon!
We brought him home yesterday and, ever since, his poop shapes are highly irregular. Sometimes normal, sometimes very small, sometimes big or oval or oblong. Could this be from the stress of switching homes? Too many pellets? (I don’t know how much to feed a baby… but the breeder said have pellets available at all times and lots of hay, which I have)…. I realize this is not ideal for adults, but I’m not used to having a baby bun.
I’m absolutely terrified that he will end up with megacolon like Boon had. I can’t deal w/ that again. Breeder said that none of her bunnies ever had a problem with GI stasis.
Any insight would be so appreciated!
