Thought I’d dedicate one thread to the new little bun coming home.  I’ve decided to name her Hera… in mythology, Hera was Zeus’s wife. .  My boyfriend helped pick the name!

The vet just called, the spay was successful and Hera is recovering well.  Vet says she’ll be ready to come home anytime tomorrow, and she’s sending her home with pain meds.  I can’t wait to pick her up!  Her cage is all set up and ready for the most part… I just need to add bedding, hay, pellets, and water.  I didn’t wanna add those things too early and let them get ‘stale’ or whatever, especially the hay/pellets/water.

I talked with Zeus this morning, tried to give him a pep talk about an addition to the family.  Very excited to bring home little miss Hera tomorrow!  More pics to follow!

          Yay! Congrats!

I was hoping you’d name her Hera.
Looking forward to more pics of the adorable fluffer.
When she’s feeling better of course. (((fast recovery Hera)))

                        Hi everyone!

Hera is home, and doing pretty well.  No pics yet, still letting her settle as she almost went 24 hours without pooping.  She’s pooped a few small pellets though, wahoo.  And she’s starting to pick at hay, and took a drink.   So things are progressing pretty nicely.

She is VERY brave!  Exploring her new cage, periscoping a ton, very curious.  She’s not acting painful at all from the spay which I’m very glad for.  She is on Metacam for a week, per the vet.

I’ll post pics as soon as she’s eating and pooping totally normally!  I promise.

Hera is continuing to improve and do well. She’s nibbling on apples pretty regularly (I know they’re not supposed to be an every day treat, but we’re still in “whatever will get her to eat, she can have it” mode), and I offered her some of Zeus’s orchard grass hay and she ate some of that pretty well, too.

The vet office sent her home with yogurt drops, and she’s also eating those. Another thing she shouldn’t really be getting, but as long as she’s eating she can pretty much have whatever she has a taste for!

She’s drinking really well, which is very nice. I don’t know if she didn’t have a dish before, so she’s liking it? Who knows.

                                Hera is doing great!

Eating well, and doing Bunny 500s every morning and evening.  Binkies everywhere… so funny!  I keep trying to get pics, but my room is dark, she’s black and fluffy, and they all turn out just as black blobs. .

Zeus has taken to sitting RIGHT next to her cage, like 2 inches from the bars… and ignoring her completely.  He like willingly looks the other way as she tries to sniff and get his attention.  If she surprises him or starts jumping around a lot, he tries to sneak in a nip between the bars, then runs off.  Not quite sure what his behavior means, but it’s really funny seeing him sit so close then give her the “silent treatment”, LOL.

Sally did the EXACT same thing when I first brought Harley home. She would just sit right by his temp cage and stare at him for hours. She wouldn’t try to nip him or anything she was just really obsessed with him lol She wasted her entire play time just staring at Harley!

They bonded and moved in together in 3 days time. I had the easiest bond in the world with these two so it seems like a good sign that he at least enjoys spending time with Hera and ignores her, but stays close

LOL, love the picture. Turn your lop around so his butt’s facing the cage and that would be Zeus’s pose.

LOL…ignoring is good. I think things will get interesting though if they come into physical contact. But they may be totally used to one another by then.
Silly Zeus…you ARE going to treat your lovely hunnybunny nicer than the God Zeus supposedly did HIS Hera, aren’t you? *snuggles*
