Hi, I completely forgot my username on here so forgive me.
I have a 6 year old bunny who, early late saturday night-early sunday refused to eat his vegetables, pellet, or hay. He started to stay in his litterbox for long periods of time. Unfortunately, since it was Sunday, all vets in my area were closed. I started to research and I’m going to take him to the vet today because I know how vital it is for bunnies to eat frequently.
He was acting lethargic all day yesterday, though it is slightly improved today, he just isn’t his peppy self. He had stools clinging to his butt yesterday that were slightly mucus-y and I cleaned those off of him. He hasn’t pooped or peed since and although he is still drinking water, it is not as frequent as normal.
As I couldn’t take him to the vet yesterday, I tried giving him tummy massages after reading to do so, however he started to grind his teeth and it worried me that it was making him uncomfortable. He also seems a little paranoid of me getting near him, which was not an issue yesterday but today he just seems wary of me getting very close.
I was going to go pick up him some simethicone. Is that a good idea? Any other suggestions until I can get him to the vet?
I’m sorry if this is hard to understand. I’m a little jittery and worried about him and after reading so much I’m so afraid that he is in a lot of pain that I can’t relieve until the vets open after noon.
