So we have had our new little girl for about four weeks now. We think she’s about four months old now but we have no idea what kind of bunny she is. I’m guessing she’s a cross breed but she’s defined by the enormous ear. Anyone got any ideas of breed?

        Guess who?

Oh, wow, she’s gorgeous! Not sure about breed, but the ears make me think Flemish cross maybe?

How much does she weigh, do you know? Did the vet provide a weight when you had her spayed?

I would say Flemmie Mix or NZ Mix – she’s gorgeous.

                   Sometimes she’s camera shy….

I just spent a hilarious few minutes trying to weigh her on the kitchen scales! The vet didn’t give me a weight. My scales reading somewhere between 10 and 12 ounces. This doesn’t feel right to me but maybe…? It would be handy to have an idea of how big she might get but perhaps we’ll just have to be suprised!

Best way to weigh wiggly creatures is to weigh yourself on a regular bathroom scale, then immediately without changing anything weigh yourself again while holding the wiggly creature in your arms. Just subtract your weight from your weight while holding the bunny and viola, you have bunny’s weight.

No help here on the breed, but I think she’s awfully cute! The top picture of her on the rug/blanket(?) is the BEST! She’s definitely all ears! 🙂

She reminds me of Nuggetbuns bunny! He has the petite looking face and HUGE ears but he is an average sized bunny. Maybe she will stop by and give a guess!

Thanks all. She is pretty cute but she’s certainly a minx. Went for a shower this morning to return and find she’d lept a meter in the air to sit on my lap top on the desk. Perhaps she wanted to say hi herself…?! She never jumps up on anything whilst I’m in the room. Only when I’m gone. Strange creature!

She does seem to have Flemish ears and it is the petite face that sets them off. Just hope we haven’t accidentally ended up with a giant bunny or anything as we have a very small house. Would be interested to hear from Nuggetbuns if she has one similar.

Sorry to keep disappearing from the threat btw. I’m in the UK so I think I go to bed just as you guys mostly come online!

                                Have a good day.

There are LOTS of pics of Nugget in this months picture thread if you want to look at her bunny! He is brown and white but he has a similar build as your rabbit.

Haha, NBO, I finally decided to stop by! She DOES look exactly like Nugget except for her all over raven black fur!

TamarizRabbit- She is gorgeous! I see that a few people are guessing a Flemish mix, but aren’t those super duper big? I can’t tell from the pictures how big she is, but if she is similar to Nugget’s size (5-6 pounds in the U.S.), my guess is she’s a Swedish Hare like Nugget. It’s a new sporting breed that was developed by mixing a variety of smaller breeds with good temperament with athletic breeds.

Here are some of the first Swedish Hares created: http://www.swedishhareuk.weebly.com/foundi…globe.html

The first one looks like Nugget’s twin sister and I actually contacted the breeder in Sweden to ask what she was mixed with, Belgian Hare and Holland Lop. So I assume Nugget is the same .

The second rabbit looks very similar to yours with the long ears and upright standing position. Also found this pretty female from one of the SH breeders: http://www.gronangens.webs.com/siri.htm She has more photos under that picture and what her genetic makeup is.

From what I read in your earlier posts, she sounds like a very intelligent and sweet rabbit that would do great in jumping competitions . Have you named her yet? If not, I suggest Raven.

Thanks so much. Yes, this looks like a likely breed. A hare…wow!

She is named Tamariz or Tizzy for short. She is named after my boyfirend’s favourite magician. My other half is also a bit of a magician! No pulling rabbits out of hats though. Too cruel. We are trying to train her to pick a card though which is pretty cute. Have a video somewhere of it…The naming was a clincher in the getting a pet deal. He liked her raven blackness as it was ‘magical’!

Oh duh, that makes sense now. Tizzy is a very cute name and matches her adorable face! And before you go telling everyone she’s a hare, she’s not actually a hare haha. That’s just a name they used for the breed because most of them are crossed with a Belgian Hare, who is the only breed that resembles a hare with their lean body and long ears/legs, but is still a rabbit. I once accidentally confused QueenTwitch about that too.

I am a sucker when it comes to magicians, but my bf has no interest in it at all. Boo.

Haha! Cute! Olivia likes to do that with cards too. She will pick them all out, one by one, until the deck is gone.
