It will be june soon! YAY!! Happy almost june everyone. Dad and I are working on the rabbiut hutch! We will be bunsitting soon! BYE! ![]()
It is officially June where I am! I cannot believe it is already June! Time is going by WAY too fast!
It’s been June here (and the first day of Winter) here for 15 hrs. Certainly felt the winter this morning, could barely type for fingers shivering.
*As I write this it’s 4 AM and I’m still a bit asleep.*
So if you saw my other post, you’d see that I’m bunny sitting for my dad’s coworker, and he’s staying in my room, because I deemed his cage too small and the guy said he does well out of cage as long as there’s no wires around to chew on (Which is a given, all my usual wires stretch up to my bed, so I don’t have any down, plus I’m not gonna pay 30$ to replace a computer charger that wasn’t even destroyed by my rabbits. LOL :p.) But, I should have learned by now not to test a rabbit’s intelligence. I awoke to noises, noises that sounded oddly like something munching on paper. I went back to sleep, thinking nothing of it, because I used to have Nala and Duchess before moving them downstairs because at the time, the upstairs had no AC. But, not much later, I hear it again. I actually said “What is that?” outloud. Then I was litterally groaned in annoyance “Buttercup.” And nearly fell out of my bed trying to turn a light on to see that he’s on the opposite side of the barrier, chewing on a piece of paper happily.
I figured I could get away with a low barrier, about a foot or so high, he seemed pretty chill, didn’t seem like the jumping type or that he’d be able to figure out how to jump it til tomorrow (er, today) when I could make it a little big more secure. Plus, he spent about 5 hours in my room when I wasn’t home with the same barrier up. But I was wrong.
Which brings me to the conclusion that rabbits are always smarter than you, and they won’t let you forget it. You should never think you’re smarter than a rabbit, because they will take that and use it against it. I felt so bad, I had to put him back in his cage his owner brought, but it’s only for a couple hours until I try and sleep some more, but I could already feel myself waking up when I got up to put him in his cage. But I still have to wait until my nephew’s awake because if he’s not, he’ll be cranky, and no one wants to deal with a cranky 3 year old.
Needless to say though, the one night I actually am able to sleep at a decent hour, (which isnt often for me.) and actually sleep soundly, without waking, I have a little terror on my hands. He’s lucky he’s cute.
haha, and I’m lucky he doesn’t throw a fit in his cage and throw things around.
Yes, rabbits are very clever. They use their innocent look to hide that fact and to get away with lots of stuff you’d never accept from less adorable creatures. “O,h I’m just an innocent little silly wad of silky fur, just look at my beautiful, sincere eyes, I’d never…”
Yeah, right.
I read that fleece is bunny-safe. My bunny Bam had clearly not read that, I realized this morning. I don’t know what to get him, he ate rag-rugs and got a stomach-problem, now he’s been eating fleece. I don’t think sea-grass mats are even available in Sweden, if they are they’re for humans and probably from somewhere in East-Asia and treated with all kinds of poisons because people are not supposed to eat them and rarely will.
He can’t be on the bare floor because it has very little traction.
Bunny Safe ? No such thing…. I daren’t leave my tool box and power tools any where near my little darlings or they would have me and the cats in the bunny room and remodel the house to their liking. Pepper is way to clever at solving problems and she remembers the solutions.
Can’t believe it’s June already! It’s my birthday in just over two weeks
!
Haha bunnies are the smartest little things!
I guess the moving date has moved up (again)… We will be moving on June 20th. How the time flies.
BunnyDaddy – Don’t feel too bad about putting him in the cage. It won’t hurt him to be in there for a little while. Perhaps he’s not used to being “free” at night and he saw this opportunity to do some “exploring”.
So kitty is nowhere to be found. We haven’t seen her since I squirted the Neosporin in her ouchie. I’m worried. My husband looked all over for her yesterday. He even looked in the machine shed thinking she got in there somehow. I wish it hadn’t been storming all week. Maybe she was just super scared by all the rain and is still hiding. There was SO much rain this week. It was ridiculous. So I wasn’t ever able to get her.
Aw LBJ I hope you find her soon. It’s the worst feeling when a little one is missing.
It’s okay. I just wish my in-laws would have tried a little harder in the first place. I know the cat isn’t “their” cat, but they did say she should go to a good home. I don’t know why they waited so long. I knew the longer she was out there the more likely something bad would happen. I hope her foot is okay.
So my birthday was yesterday! I had so much fun with my friends. =) We went to Long Beach, CA and explored the area out there and went to a couple bars.
I am so excited, though. I am bringing Rascal and Valentine home likely tomorrow afternoon! I miss them so much. I am leaving Marley at the ladies house because she is going to try and find a match for Marley so that means I will be a bunmom to 4 rabbits soon! =) I need to separate the rabbit area now. I am so glad I can bring at least two of my bunnies home!
So next weeks project is finding an old fashioned electrical repair shop to replace my speaker cables.
Should have moved the stereo when I expanded Pascal’s play pen…
Not his fault I should have known better.
LBJ, she has been coming for months. I think she will return once the weather has fully settled.
I am pledging to keep up with this chat this time!
Haha on the topic of bunnies being clever, my cousins had a bun who would always spray pee up the sides of her hutch, and then scratch marks into it. We reckon it was her escape plans, because at least once a week she’d manage an escape into the room she was kept in!
To add to the smart bunny convo…. ![]()
My bunny is allowed out in her room & the living room… Not mine…. 2 days in a row I left my bedroom door open for a few seconds and there she is under my bed!
It gets harder to herd her out every time. Today I tried shooting her in the butt with my son’s nerf disc gun. She turned around and picked up the disc. Lol
I would bunny proof the bedroom, but the master bath is also a hazard…. My parents. Had a cat that got between the floor & drop ceiling in the basement under the garden tub. ![]()
Roberta, it won’t officially be summer here until the middle of June, but it is already warm. I’m interested in how long your winter lasts…. Where I am it is warm through September and into October. Fall officially begins mid September.
Hi LB, In Western Australia we tend to get the extremes unlike some of the other states. Summer this year came on full sprint in December and we still had temps in the 30C’s till mid May. It is now freezing again (for us anyway) and down in the teens with single digits in the evenings. This will probably stay now till well into November with the rains and go from wet and cold to intolerably hot within the space of a few weeks come December again.
Do any of you know of a good water purifier that can turn rain water into drinkable water? We will be staying on the boat for a bit, and I wanted one of those fan-dangled fancy contraptions.
June already?
Waiting to hear back for another job that I’m REALLY hoping to get – I interviewed for last week. The background check people contacted me on Friday and asked for more verification for a job I was doing before so on Monday I have to get them that information. Hopefully I’ll hear back soon! I hate waiting…
Nora should hopefully be going for her spay in a week or two! Thank the Good Lord. Everyone in this house is ready for that girl to lose those hormones. Such a terror! But such a cute terror! ![]()
Yay!
LB – your bun sounds like our Baxter. Our buns are allowed in every room in the house, except the master bedroom. He thinks the master bedroom is most exciting room in the house, and he tries several times per day to get in. If by chance we forget to close the gate – Baxter sneaks in the room, and heads right under our bed…then begins to thump! It’s so funny – if he’s so scared to be under the bed, why does he want to go there so terribly bad? Bunnies /SMH
Hi everyone! I’ve been really absent this past month, because I made the decision to move at the end of the summer! Whoooo! It’s only three hours away though, so it’s not a big deal. But I’m on the hunt for an apartment and I’ve been looking in so many part of town, and finally next week I’m actually driving up there so my brother (who lives there with his girlfriend) can help me with the whole process. It’s stressful, but I’m very excited!
Lucy update! So it’s been a month since she’s been spayed and all I have to say is…. OH MY GOD WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE OKAY AFTERWARDS AND THAT SHE WOULD ACT SO MUCH BETTER?!??! (okay that’s actually what everyone in the entire world said) She was such a demon before!!! (okay she wasn’t that bad) Before, she use to ALWAYS, every time I let her out, chew and dig every corner of the carpet and I would have to spray smelly perfume everywhere. And that’s basically all she would do tghe entire time, and it drove me insane, and I would have to follow her around and watch her like a hawk. But now, she’s a perfect angel (okay, not exactly). Now she rarely ever digs at the carpet unless she’s really really bored and has been out for a long time, and no one is paying attention to her. She is also a lot better now about being handled. She doesn’t really like being held (the other day, she peed on my arm, when I held her for too long), but you can actually lift her without her kicking in every direction. No kicking happens at all! No fighting! And then the last difference I have notice after her spay is that she finally understands and listens to the word “no!” Before, I could scream no on the tops of my lungs, clap, stomp, snap, and nothing would make her stop! Now, a small snap, clap, or no will immediately make her stop what she’s doing. I could seriously cry over how great she is now. Obviously I loved her before, but her behavior is sooo much better now. Also, she’s finally bonding with other people besides me! (she’s OBSESSED with my mom!)
Also, I found this link of top “10 reason rescused rabbits rule” and I thought yall would really enjoy reading it!
http://rabbitresource.org/10-reasons-rescued-rabbits-rule/
We found her! She came today when I went outside and called for her. She was ravenous! Her foot looks a bit better. I suppose because of the Neosporin. My in-laws are home now, so hopefully they can take her to the vet now.
Roberta – You were right. I guess she was just wary because of all the storms. Did you get the pics I sent?
Hi LBJ, That’s great…. I put the pics on Facebook with just the relevant details. I am on so many rescue networks if someone is looking hopefully they will see her.
I’m so glad LBJ!!
That’s good your bunny has calmed down Caroline

He must like the thrill. Lol. Like people who like haunted houses…![]()
Belle is sleeping in a flopped position right now and her little mouth and paws are twitching. I swear it is the cutest thing ever!
Aww!
I am so excited! Rascal and Valentine come home tonight!!! =D I cannot wait to go pick them up. Marley is staying there so he can find a friend and I can bring them home. This gives me time to build them a condo.
Roberta – That’s great. Hopefully someone will recognize her.
Amy – Well at least you have part of your bunny pack back. =) I’m sure Marley will find a friend that suits him. He is so lucky to have someone as generous as you looking out for him.
Yes, I am excited. =)
Hello everybun! (oh and the slaves too
)
I haven’t posted on here and forever and I don’t always make it to checking the forums every day anymore
But I thought I would say ‘hi!’. All the buns are good. Only one who’s having issues is Sweets with what the doc thinks is allergies affecting her eyes. We’re on our 3rd or 4th expensive eye drops to try to help. Shedding is in full swing here. Foster bunny is still with me too. He’s made himself quite at home and I think he has high expectations of his furever home
I’ve been super busy with school and work. I’m in my last semester for my associates and I’m doing all 9 credits online which was a really bad idea but seemed great. I’ve also started an online store (on top of my already two for the beads/jewelry) for jewelry I started making where all the profits go to the rescue. That store has kept me super busy but I love making bunny (and other small animal) themed jewelry. I was pretty proud that in two months, it had earned over $100 in donations for my rescue. Hope all was well- I’ll be trying to catch up on everyone’s news now ![]()
In less than 6 hrs I will be collecting this young man from the local pound… He is going to have a short vacay here before heading off to his foster home.

But this means that I get to name him ![]()
Any suggestions ?
Squee!!! He looks like a little Snickerdoodle!
Sadly while I wait to head off to collect little bun my eldest cat looks to be heading for the bridge. As horrible as it sounds I have been silently asking her beloved Toffee Cat to call her to the bridge. I want Twinketoes to go quietly and peacefully here in her home. Twinkie hates the cat carrier and I know if I had to take her to the vet her last hour would be filled with fear. Twinkers is under my bed, I opened the blinds so the sunbeams fell there and she laid down in them. I have been in stroking her paws and her head and she just quietly purrs. It does not seem so long ago I stood deathwatch with my family at my fathers bedside.
Its the irony of saving one life whilst another lived long and well (24yrs) slowly draws to a close. Please be happy for her that she can pass this way with Toffee waiting at the bridge to guide her on the final journey.
I think I would like a name for little bun that honours Twinkletoes.
Aww, Roberta. Sounds like Twinkletoes has had a long and wonderful life.
Hmm, what about Twinkie? Or Twinks?
…
Tiddlywinks!
Aw Roberta that’s so sad. I hope she goes nice and peacefully to be with Toffee.
I like the idea of Twinks – had to smile at Tiddlywinks.
I found post about rabbits on a chicken site that I’ve joined. This is really wrong, and these people are irresponsible rabbit owners.
So, without further adu, the post:
I think I’ve about had it with rabbits! My doe that is pregnant got loose this morning. She’s gone. Squeezed right out of the stupid door I’ve been wanting to fix on her hutch but I haven’t had my husbands drill available. Finally got it today to start working on the door, went up there to measure and she was GONE! I could not believe she squeezed herself thru this 3 in gap in the side. If it was even 3in!
So we spotted her in the brush behind the hutches when we saw some weeds twirling around. I went in with a rake (the brush is up to my ribs) was able to get her out but thence stupid dachshund chased her around the yard and down into the woods in the front side of my yard. I went back in to try to find her but no luck. I’m just praying she stays away from our road, it’s a 55mph road and tho its not too busy, it makes me nervous. So yet again I am so upset. We’ll either never see her again or we’ll have 7 bunnies hopping out of the woods if she even cares for them in the “wild
Roberta: I’m so sorry to hear about poor Twinkletoes. She had a wonderful life with you and I hope she goes peacefully. I’m sure Toffee is waiting for her at the bridge. If you think she needs help, maybe your vet would be willing to come to your house.
Colleen: Wow, that’s pretty sad. That poor bunny. Maybe she’ll find a better home but I guess it doesn’t look good for her. ![]()
I found a breeder within driving distance, I emailed them. I feel guilty about it because we really want to adopt a shelter bun but then I ask myself, how long do I wait before I give up on that? (None of the shelters around here have rabbits, they’ll call if anything comes up). Even if they do get one, Hubby is a little more picky than me and I don’t want to get into a fight with him if he doesn’t like what the shelter has to offer, since it’s unlikely there will be several bunnies to choose from. Not sure what I should do, it’s difficult.
Hazel, there are no rescues around you? I know here in SoCal there are TONS of rabbit rescues with TONS of bunnies, which is sad but at least they are safe at rescues.
Amy: There’s one rescue I found but that turned out to be for wild buns. Other than that, there’s nothing I know of except the two shelters. At the Humane Society we were told that when they do get rabbits, they stay there “forever”, so I guess there’s just no rescue around here.
Don’t feel bad Hazel. We don’t have any rabbit rescues here either. The local humane society just has one rabbit right now. The most I have seen there at one time was 4 and that was a long time ago. When I look on petfinder (just for fun), the closest bunnies are in surrounding states. =\ Yep, when my husband wanted a rabbit, he got tired of looking for one to adopt.
Hey everyone. I’m new here so I thought I’d join the June chat to get to know the forum and the slaves that peruse them better. ![]()
I have been working hard to get my former rabbit room turned into a guest room for my husband’s family (sister/brother in law & brother) to visit us from France. I have put my now 3 buns in a smaller room (I know this must make me sound like I have a huge home, but I don’t – it’s only 1600 square feet, which is the perfect size and very comfortable).
His sister has never been to the US but my husband was diagnosed in March with Stage 4 Lung Cancer (and yes he smoked but he quit over 30 years ago) in March so the circumstances are more urgent to have her come and visit us. I’m looking very forward to seeing her – it’s been a long while for me to see her but my husband has been back without me.
He saw in brother in February before he was diagnosed in Las Vegas because his brother was at a convention there and he’s coming to see us sometime in June or July (luckily it’s a business trip) and I really want him to stay at the house (although his company would pay for a hotel for him).
My husband has had chemo and radiation and a couple of procedures to drain fluid from his lungs in the past 3 months and it’s just been a whirlwind for us. He seems to be in good spirits right now though.
We were very grateful we had health insurance although we have a huge deductible and a huge monthly premium since we are self-employed and must purchase insurance on our own – we had discussed at one time dropping this (because we thought we were so healthy) and boy was I glad I never did because the bills are crazy or chemo and radiation.
So any vibes for my husband you can spare would be grateful.
Vibes for your husband Sarita, I hope he continues to win this battle.
Twinkletoes my 24 yr old kitteh passed quietly in her sleep the early hours of this morning.
Took the bunnies in for their spay yesterday and it turns out Buttons is a boy! Luckily they’d been separated so no oops litters (thanks to the advice from ? NBO a few weeks ago) all is well, although Buttons refuses to take his meds, Suri is eating everything in sight and chucking around her rattle all night although I woke up every few hours last night to syringe water into her as she’s not drinking by herself
check up in 2 hours though so hopefully the vet can check on them.
Sarita- serious vibes coming hour
(Continued) your way, I hope he’s feeling much better soon and I’m glad to hear he’s in good spirits, it makes the world of difference.
Roberta- I’m sorry to hear about subtleties. 24years is such an amazing age for a cat! She must’ve had such a great life with you!
Amy’s animals- I’m so glad you have your buns back you missed them SO much, have you finished decorating your room now?
Everyone’s posts about their bunnies being mischievous made me laugh, Suri’ pretty sneaky, she threw her water tub at me and as I went to clean it she snatched part of a paper towel from me and attempted to devour it! Que a game of tug of war. she’s also worked out how to open her pen and waits until my back is turned to open it up and follow me around. Time to invest in super bunny proofing!
Hazel – I really wouldn’t feel bad. As much as everyone says buying from breeders is horrible I still view it as saving them. If not, they will end up just being bred themselves. All three of my Tans came from the breeder and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love them. I love my rescue bunnies just as much but honestly sometimes it’s nice to know my other three will never have to go through the pain or hardship their rescue brother and sister did. I love them all the same. And it’s not your fault your area never has rescue rabbits. I would go for it – and find a bunny you and your husband can agree on. Rescuing is a very wonderful thing but you really don’t have that option and you shouldn’t feel bad about that. Be happy you don’t have a rescue overflowing with buns!!
It means (hopefully) that your area doesn’t have a high dump rate.
Le sigh. Still waiting to hear back from the job I interviewed for. The background check company contacted me so I know they asked for a background check which seems like a positive thing! SO I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Sarita – I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through. Sending lots of vibes for your husband and yourself.
Amy – Any news on the Marley friend front? Hahah! I’m excited to see a new rabbit in the bunch!
Hannaroo: I have Rascal and Valentine back but not Marley yet. He is still there searching for his friend. =P I can’t wait to have them all home.
TanLover: I haven’t gotten any updates yet but hopefully soon. I know she’s busy so I try not to bug her. I’ll probably message her today. I don’t know if she’s done any dates yet, though.
Amy – Aww I’ve bet you’re had lots of cuddles! Good luck finding him a friend (I defiantly think it’ll be a match made in heaven if it’s called Bob!) I love watching watching bunnies with their partners, there’s nothing better! When I had to seperate my bunnies it was so sad! Poor Suri Sat in a corner for two days and searched for Buttons during playtime
Marley will adore another bun in the house!
Sarita: I’m so very sorry! Sending lots and lots of healing vibes your husband’s way!
Thanks for encouraging me about the breeder, guys.
tanlover: I felt the same way about Lily when we picked her up, even though she came from a breeder I looked at it as saving her and offering her a better life. ![]()
Speaking of Lily, as we are getting prepared for our possible future bunny arrival, she will finally get her own bedroom! Until now, we’ve been using our old rabbit enclosure as her safe place at night or when we can’t watch her during the day. We finally feel that she may be ready to graduate to an empty room.
Still, I’m nervous about it, she might decide to eat the blinds, or the carpet… ![]()
The breeder hasn’t replied to my email yet, I guess I shouldn’t be so impatient though. ![]()
Was just watching North America on Animal Planet. They had an adorable segment on pikas. Then the narrator called them rodents! Why? Why? WHY?!
You know what’s frustrating? Is when something is going on with you and instead of digging further to figure it out they just put me on a medicine! Then 5 months after getting on the pill I get off the medicine for financial reasons and everything just comes right back!
I wish doctors would try and FIND AND FIX this instead of just trying to cover it up with a darn pill! I don’t want a blanket to cover it up, I want answers! I’m so frustrated I’m sitting here crying, afraid that I won’t be able to have children when the times comes. I’m sooooo afraid because I have no idea what’s going on with my body and my doctors only answer is to put me on birth control. I don’t want birth control! I HATE pills. I HATE everything pharmaceutical!
A 22 year old shouldn’t be having the issues I am having right now. It’s just not normal. I’m so afraid I won’t be able to have children. I really needed to vent. I’m sorry, I’m just so stressed that this nightmare has returned only 2 months after getting off the pill. I wanna just crawl into a ball and cry right now ![]()
NBO – Oh gosh, I’m sorry. Can I ask what the problem is? I completely understand because I have a pituitary tumor and I basically felt like I was going through menopause when I was 24. Their answer was to put me on birth control. Things have been that way ever since. No idea if I can have kids or not because we have never been in a place where the idea was, um, negotiable? LOL Anyway, if you ever want to talk about it, feel free to pm me. =)
I wish I knew what the problem is LBJ10. That’s what’s scary. Is it’s going on, but I have no idea what it is. I’ll pm you what is going on. Maybe you could offer me some advice. Tell me if I’m over reacting or under reacting.
Hmm.. likely a hormonal thing then, if the pill halts it. Get a second opinion if you can, and mention that. Could be anything from pituitary to ovaries, so definitely get it looked at a second time.
NBO – are you seeing a specialist? They generally have much more interest in solving the problem for you. Its so fustrating when it feels like doctors work against you instead of with you!
Hazel – I got my two from a breeder! There is a local rescue close to me but they only had giant breeds for a long time. They did have one sweet netherland dwarf but she needed bonding and was very VERY nervous! I’m moving out in the next few months or years so I needed a smaller breed ideally if I go to a flat and I didnt have any experiance with bunnies so felt bonding and helping a stressed bun was a little out of my league. I did donate though and I’d still use the rescue if I ever wanted another bun.
My breader was very sweet, it was non profit and they were pets, handled daily by mum and children (they were older children) and she cared about their wellbeing. Make sure you see mum and dad and that their housing is appropriate!
My breeder still gets updates on the buns and she gives me alot of good advice for their care!
Hazel – have you considered looking on Craigslist? I really hate to say that because I hate that section on Craigslist but there may be a rabbit on there that needs a new home and that’s where you would find breeders looking to sell anyway…just a thought.
Sarita: Actually, I have. I’d hate to let someone make money off of dumping their rabbit but I would still consider it if I could give a bunny a new home that way. Sadly, nothing has come up, so far.
The breeder hasn’t replied to me yet, either. I’m starting to feel like I’m cursed… ![]()
That sounds frustrating Hazel – I hope you find a bun to love soon.

Maybe…
The rabbit population is very different in every area. The HRS chapter that we will be closest to has lots of rabbits, and I want to adopt them all. And when I look at craisglist, I see lots of rabbits that need homes. Hoping that you will find that perfect bunny soon!![]()
I think that some time in August my husband and I will be adopting another dog for Abbie. She is definitely not meant to be an only dog. I hate the shelters here. There is this lady that has to move to a homeless shelter because she can’t afford anything and she has 60 cats and 2 starving dogs (they were all dumped on her property and she tried to take care of them)
Anyways, she contacted ALL the shelters in the area and you know what they told her?! They told her to just put the cats outside! All 60 cats, dump them outside. How heartless is it for an animal shelter to say you are on your own!? They poor dogs are starving because the lady has 2 kids to also feed and she can’t afford to feed herself. And now she is homeless and all the surrounding shelters don’t even care to help these animals. Now 60+ animals, including two dogs will be dumped to fend for themselves because the shelters don’t even care enough to offer help.
I just sent a bag of food for her to get her by a little until she can find a home for the two dogs. I don’t know what’s going to happen to the cats though :/
Getting my guest room (former rabbit room) painted today – they are using low VOC paint which I’m curious about…never used this before but it’s been a long time since I’ve painted myself (I’m an awful painter) – hired a painter this time since I have some very tall walls on one side of the room.
Getting this room ready (new carpet, painting, and blinds) has been expensive and since time is of the essence, it’s not something I can put off.
Etienne’s niece from France just emailed me this week to do an internship here for a month starting in July so it’s even more urgent…wasn’t pleased about this because it was so quick…I guess her other sources fell through. But it’s okay since not sure when we will ever see her again – it’s been a very long time since I’ve seen her…Etienne has made a few trips without me back to France so he’s probably seen her since then.
I luckily have furniture and artwork for the room – just need a bed so we are switching the mattresses in our room for the guest room and getting new mattresses for us…looking forward to that since my current mattresses were hand me downs from my mom – they were expensive mattresses but it’s time for new ones.
I am looking forward to his sister and her husband visiting us though and I hope they can stay for awhile – it will be good for Etienne to have his sister here – I think he’s looking forward to it.

I just sent a bag of food for her to get her by a little until she can find a home for the two dogs. I don’t know what’s going to happen to the cats though :/
That’s pretty sad.
I wonder if I might be able to help… I like doing things like that. That’s pretty heartless. Maybe you could adopt a dog from her. Or are they in REALLY bad shape? Can’t she go hunting or fishing? It might be cheaper for her to have the animals on raw food.
That’s really mean for thge shelters to let that happen. It makes you wonder if the shelters are trying to help people like her.
The dogs are large breed dogs and VERY skinny. THey have been tied up all their lives, living outside. I am just not ready to take on a big thing like that. I want to adopt for the sole purpose of my little 10 pound dog being happy and having a play mate. I simply cannot take the risk of taking in an starving, unsocialized, LARGE dog for Abbie. I really wish I could help, which was why I sent her a big bag of food to give her a couple more weeks to be able to find them a home.
I have seen worse, but you can easily see the ribs and the stomachs are sunken in on the pictures. And they are black dogs with medium fur, so they are pretty skinny. SHe sounds like she has some disabilities because she can’t work and gets a check once a month for $300. That’s not a lot for someone with 2 children, and then 62 animals that were dumped on her. Luckily, for the animals, we have multiple people donating food for her animals until they can all be rehomed. (they are all free). I sure hope her children are making it ok….
I’ve been reading up on our local animal shelter here and they are in some major heat right now from the public. They are killing dogs before even trying to search for a shelter transfer to take them. They are in the middle of an investigation and the notes are just, it’s really hard to explain. But they are in BIG trouble right now. They will most likely be finding a new director very soon. Lets just say nearly half the animals that walk in that shelter…never come out.
A few days ago they euthanized a puppy because the owners were unable to cough up $200 in 24 hours to reclaim their dog back. They begged to have a payment plan, or an extension and they refused and killed the puppy immediately following the 24 hours mark. But according to CAPA law, they were suppose to just take the dog under their custody and treat it as a surrender. But they didn’t they just killed the dog to “teach the owners a lesson” Ugh, it just makes me so sick!
Had a close friend recently adopt a “6 year” old terrier. They told her she had a 2 week trial. Turns out the terrier was aggressive and bit her son 3 times, drawing blood. So she took the dog to the vet. Turns out, the dog also had a massive tumor in his eye, causing him pain. It wasn’t cancer, his eye just needed to be removed. SHe recieved a written letter from the vet talking about the tumor and how this dog wasn’t suitable for children. And he wasn’t 6, he was actually 10 years old. Well, she took the dog back to the shelter and you know what they did? They didn’t even read the vet letter, they told the owner that not only will they not be performing the surgery, but the owner was from now on, blacklisted from EVER adopting from their shelter again because she brought the dog back. And they euthanized him that day. He had a treatable illness and the shelter was too lazy to find a suitable home without kids.
This won’t stop me from adopting, but I won’t be going to that particular shelter until they get a new director.
Oh no! Harley has gotten Sally into the whole, “Lets lick EVERYTHING!” habit! They are both as we speak licking my couch!

How do they even have any animals if they don’t take animals in?
Most are owner surrender at my local shelter. Anyhoo, guess what! After lots of phone calls the two dogs will be getting picked up tomorrow! And another rescue will be coming by to collect as many cats as they have room for. They are only getting the ones who are most socialized and healthy first though. So I don’t think every cat will have the opportunity to get rescued. There are some that are feral and I guess they will have to fend for themselves until the rescue have more room.
ColleenBunny, It’s difficult for shelters to provide shelter to strays when they do not have room. Which was why they were denying help for the lady. They simply have no room. Mainly the no kill shelters just could not offer any help. It’s a tough situation and it’s the hard truth. I’m so happy though that a majority will get the help they need! And a few people are going to go over to her house over the next few days and see if there are any cats left to help foster as well. I just hope every animal in this situation will get rescued. We shall see though.
I like the humane society here. While it isn’t officially a no-kill shelter, they never euthanise to make room, only for health and sever behavioural issues, like biting non stop and attacking everything in sight. If there’s no room, they have a wait list and take in pets as soon as they can.
Sarita (((vibes))) for your husband! I know how stressful fighting cancer can be. My mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was in high school.
It’s nice to be able to catch up on BB! I seem to be able to get on here in spurts. >.< The bf started playing WoW again and since I have the better laptop he's been using mine to play it on. So less BB for me. =[ But I have started reading more. =p I've really missed reading. I find between working and school last semester I just don't have the time to read. But no school and no job right now has left me quite bored. -.- Haha. Oh well. Have to stay optimistic. I bet somewhere someone will want to hire me.
MB – I can say the same about our shelters here…. they really do try for these animals… I’m proud of what our shelters here do.
Skipper – I know what you mean! I’ve been reading a lot again lately and I love it!
Nora had her spay Wednesday night (WHOOP!) and has been doing AMAZING! She came home and gobbled down food and has been walking around like nothing happened. She hasn’t needed her pain meds at all. I’ve also been able to get Simba down to just taking Reglan (no more fluids and CC for him!) and he seems to be doing well without them! Thank goodness.
I just sent in a follow-up email with the job I interviewed for. It’s been two weeks – they did a background check because the company called me – so I’m really anxious to hear back if I got it or not. Since they did a background check it’s pretty likely I’m a top candidate! **FINGERS CROSSED**
*phew* this wedding is really getting the best of me. I can’t wait for it to be over and done with, honeslty. lol i know it’s sad but gosh. I will be disappearing for awhile afterwards to just recoup. I’m sure family is going to hate it but they have exhausted me and I’m pulled in so many different directions between the two families. Can’t wait to be left alone lol
Okay, I need some advice here. Remember the honey I’m making? The way I learned to make herb-infused honey was to put the dried herbs in the honey and let it infuse for 1 to 2 weeks (turning the jar over every day). Anyway, I found a recipe the other day that said to heat the honey over low heat, add fresh herbs, and then let infuse for 24 hours.
Does anyone have experience working with honey? I’m wondering if this is something I should try. Do you think it would give the honey a richer flavor? Or is my old method better? I’m stressing because I have less than 2 weeks now (boss couldn’t make up mind).
Well, I dehydrated the herbs I collected a bit today. I crushed up the leaves and stems and put it in the honey. Hopefully I gathered enough of each kind. I will taste it after a few days and if they seem like they need a little help I can try the other method. =\
That’s so cool that you make your own honey!
I didn’t make the honey. I’m just infusing herbs in the honey. Hehe! It is pretty cool. I’m using herbs I’m not familiar with though, so I’m worried.
So sorry to hear that your husband isn’t well Sarita, I work in radiotherapy and we very often have brilliant outcomes in lung cancer patients
wishing him well (all the way from Essex) x
So happy! Just wanted to announce my first official day of summer break! I thought the school year would never end!
On the agenda today: run errands
clean house
and give my bunny a bath….
She is ok with trimming her nails…. I might polish them hot pink!![]()
Librarians Bun: just curious how you’re going to give your bunny a bath? Baths are very stressful for bunnies. Unless they are really filthy from getting into something and it would be harmful for them to groom themselves, it really isn’t necessary to bathe your bunny.
If it is necessary:
http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/buttbath.html
LBJ: Good luck with the honey! Sadly I don’t have any advice/experiance with something like that but I bet it’ll turn out great. ![]()
We finally found Lily’s food online for a good price. We’re gonna switch her back to chicken/turkey, 6 months ago we started giving her beef and for some reason she has steadily lost weight on it, even though the nutritional value is almost the same and we give her the same amount. I guess it has something to do with her food allergies, although we thought that she’s just allergic to grain.
She also moved into her new bedroom last week. The good part is, she immediately stopped sucking her tail. The bad part is, she’s becoming a little destructive. She drags her bed all over the room and has started ripping holes into it as well as the plastic liner in her litter box. She also makes as big a mess as she can with her water bowl. ![]()
Enough of the cat. We haven’t seen Squat since monday, I hope he’s okay. Having a backyard bunny was better than nothing. ![]()
It’s official, Hazel. Lilly sounds worse than the Tans!

I win!!! YAY!!!
Um, wait a minute… ![]()

How’s Nora doing? Did you have to put a cone on her? I hope she keeps having a speedy recovery!
Edit: I just saw you did. She does look very cute with it though! ![]()
Sometimes I give Kerra a bath to get the extra hair off of her. I have one of those utility type sinks in my basement. I put a towel in the bottom & a little warm water. I get her wet with my hands & Use furmenator to brush off the hair. It is easier to get her hair off when she is wet. Otherwise it floats everywhere when I brush her. I don’t use any shampoo… And I was really surprised the first time I did it, but she didn’t act stressed. She pokes her head over the top of the sink. She also puts her front paws on the side making it easier to trim her nails. I wouldn’t go so far as to say she loves a bath, but she is really good for me when I do it… Which is every couple of months, when she needs it.
So I know this is random and everything but Belle just came and flopped down beside me. She seems to be getting so comfortable around me lately and I’m like the happiest bun mum ever right now! She even let me stroke her without jumping up out the flop!!!! Never has that ever happened and I’ve had Belle for over a year now!
![]()
I suggest a lint roller instead for her fur… baths aren’t really that good for bunnies unless medically necessary.
What about just getting your hands wet and running them over her? Or misting her a little bit with a spray bottle and then brushing?
Yeah so I saw a group of people coming toward me at work today. I talked to them as they approached and then after they went by I realized something. The two women (sisters) went to school with me. Not after middle school though. They mad fun of me all the time back then. Anyway, I didn’t really recognize them until I heard their voices. I don’t know if they recognized me at all. They didn’t say anything. Yet I can’t help but wonder if they laughed at me after they had left. =\
Wish I could stop being so tired all the time. *sigh* I still have to go to work again tomorrow.
Hello
Joining the chat since my welcome thread is getting pretty long haha.
welcome to our chat thread ![]()
So this happened tonight ![]()

Three more days of my medical externship and I am done. I will be studying to get my certification, job hunting, and I signed myself up for a free college class online for the summer named Sustainability of Food Systems: A Global Life Cycle Perspective. I’m very tired, but happy that my program is over. I plan to go back for a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition in a few years.
Some of us can’t do a plant based diet
A balanced diet is the way to go for me, the occasional junk food isn’t going to kill me ![]()

Except I have nothing to prove to you and I feel sorry for you. No wonder I don’t come on here anymore – I choose to surround myself around people that actually support WHO I want to be.
Hi Chacha, Well done… It sounds like a fascinating study… Your family must be very proud of you. Congratulations![]()
Not saying anything bad about you, I did congratulate you before on your program.. maybe not in this thread, but I did. I just don’t think a plant based diet is for everyone, thus the whole “balanced diet for ME” thing. For people that do it, all the power to them, congrats. It still isn’t for me, as I literally can’t eat a meat free diet.
For those now joining in.. a part of the previous post was edited out, so it now seems I am just arguing for the sake of arguing.. which I am not. Ah well… always the bad guy, thats me.
Congratulations cha cha, all the hard work paid off!
CONGRATULATIONS, MISS CHA CHA’S MOTHER!!!
This is wonderful news, and I adore that picture. ![]()

May I just add that this is an opportunity for congratulations on an achievement, not an invitation to debate the merits upon which that achievement is based. Anything less could be hurtful and is not “playing nice in our sandbox.” No one wants cold water thrown on their enthusiastic sharing. Please learn when to agree to disagree. Some discussions can be left for another day. Thank you.
Congrats ChaCha!
So this girl on a facebook page was asking if anyone knew of a place she could get her 4 yr old rabbit spayed under $200. and someone commented, “Why do you want to get it spayed? She won’t go into season unless you put a male in there with her.”
D: The ignorance of some people. So I definitely sprinkled a little bit of knowledge their way! And I told the lady where I got my buns spayed and neutered and she has booked an appointment! ![]()
Congrats on graduating chacha!! I have been a vegetarian since January and its one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. Good look on any of your future studies and job hunting! I enrolled in beauty school yesterday and will be attending classes in august… literally a dream come true for me and I am soooo excited, and nervous!!
I wish I had the discipline to become vegetarian. I just have no idea how to make it all balanced out. Some people think vegetarians are malnourished but you really can get all the nutrients you need by eating the right things. I just have no idea how to! Plus, I love meat *sigh* I’m trying to avoid red meat at least because I’m really prone to heart disease. But I still don’t have the discipline to do it! Grr! Not to mention, I don’t know how to prepare vegetarian dishes!
Kudos to you feeandstevie!
i tried going vegetarian once,, but i didnt start making bunny pills after a week so i gave it up…
lol, Longhairmmike.
I’ve been a vegetarian since 2007 and I agree that it was the best decision for me. Anyway, congratulations ChaCha’s momma! I wish you all the best in your job hunt and schooling!
superawesomeness!! our Froggy Pullip doll got a cameo appearance in Nathan Barnatt’s new dance video.
and to top it off, it’s full of Super Mario World nostalgia.

Cool! ![]()
Eek! Here in Oregon, just south of me, Wwe had a little tornado touch down this afternoon. And now we have more funnel clouds spotted in my little suburb. Got Smudge’s meds all packed up just in case… vibes for clear weather please!!
Be careful! Hopefully it just passes through with no incident
Wow, did I miss something? How did stuff in this thread get turned into personal attacks? Why are people arguing about vegetarianism? I’m totally confused. o_O
Congrats on graduating ChaCha! Good luck with the job hunt! Does you school do any job placement?
I discovered today how a turtle scratches their tooshie. So cute! Things were pretty quiet today though since it was raining. Thunder and lightening. It was scaring the birds. =\
Oh, woah, I was NOT aware there was an argument going on about vegetarianism when I posted that? I’m a little confused now… Let me just say that I was in no way shape or form making a personal attack AT ALL when I made that comment about being a vegetarian. I’m terribly sorry if I came off that way. What’s going on? I’m confused lol
I wasn’t talking about you NBO, I was talking about what was before that. And yeah, I’m confused too. I really don’t know what is going on. I don’t know, maybe best to ignore it? ![]()
I’m hoping my honey is turning out okay. I am going to do a first round of taste tests tomorrow to see if more herbs need to be added. I’m wondering if a little sunlight would help with the infusion process. Or would that hurt the honey? Oh boy. ![]()
Yeah, just ignore it. Over and done with, no need to dwell on it ![]()
I wish I had advice to offer but I have zip experience with the honey. It’s sounds very fascinating though! I put honey on and in everything! In my yogurt, cereal, tea. yumm! lol
So I started experimenting with different types of hay for the buns. I feel as though they were getting bored of the same hay everyday. Today I introduced Oat hay from Oxbow and my gosh they are in LOVE! I can’t wait to offer more varieties. I think I will keep timothy as a base hay and just rotate out different kinds of hay as a filler. Like when the Oat hay bag runs out I will try Orchard or Meadow or Botanical. I don’t know what I will try next but they seem to be really enjoying having a second hay! They have already finished two handfuls of oat and timothy hay mixed together in the last two hours! The past couple weeks they haven’t been enthusiastic about their hay so I’m glad to see them enthusiastically gobbling it down!
Oh and I introduced a bell pepper tonight in their salad. Of course they acted like I just handed them poison! They always make me second guess myself on if it really is bad! But with everything new they let it sit their for a few hours before finally giving it a go.
Haha! Wooly will wrinkle his nose up at anything new. It’s hilarious! Then after much persuasion, he will give it a taste. I remember when we offered him some banana for the first time. You would have thought he thought it was repulsive by the look on his face. Once he tried it though, it made you wonder what all the fuss was about. Now he gobbles it up like it’s the best thing in the world. =p
Sally actually swatted me when I handed her a slice of banana! She is probably embarrassed about that fact now. I have her doing tricks for banana chips now :p You’d think that they would catch on that EVERY THING I have introduced to them ended up being really, really tasty; that they wouldn’t assume I’m trying to poison them with each new addition. They should just trust in me that I bring awesome things!
Haha awww I love giving poppy new stuff to try! He gets super excited and raises up like… hmm whatcha got for me now?? Yesterday my son was going to bed for the night and poppy jumped up on his bed ( toddler bed haha) to say goodnight!! He is super attached to the kiddos
I am one happy bunny mommy!!! ![]()
Yesterday my friend and her 3 year old son came over. I invited them in to see my bunny. The little boy followed her around some, and she kept heading away from him. Then she got in a cozy spot and let him reach down and pet her.
He found a ball and said he was going to give it to her…. I couldn’t see her in her cozy spot, but he rolled it to her and looked up and said, “Why doesn’t she want it?” She had rolled it back to him!
when he understood that they played ball for a little bit. So Stinking Cute!!!
NBO – I totally understand! Simba will eat anything but the Tans ALWAYS act like I’m poisoning them! They refuse to try anything new. When I was having a hard time giving Nora one of her meds we started mixing it with pumpkin (the rescue convinced me it would make it so much easier!). Needless to say it did, but I wanted the Tans to like pumpkin in case we ever have to administer meds to them. Nora and Simba aren’t that bad…but well, those Tans. I may lose a limb if I try and administer meds to them now… Anyway, back to the point… they REFUSED the pumpkin. Simba was gobbling up the whole container and they STILL weren’t interested at all. So I smeared it on their noses. LOLOL. And what do you know…. they loved it…..
Hazel – Nora did have to get a cone! She’s still in it poor girl. She tore all of her stitches out, little brat! Thank god this vet puts two layers of glue as she tore through one layer also.
GOOD NEWS ALSO. So the job I interviewed for called me back…. they said I am their final candidate and HR has approved me as their choice and now they are waiting for their President to sign off on the approval… and then they will call me back with an offer! I am soooooooooo excited. It’s working as a Claims Technician for the huge hospital we have here. It’s also the #1 place to work in the city. They have great benefits and are known for treating their employees great also
Now if only they would hurry up and call me back with an offer so I can get out of HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Quiznos.
Yay Congrats Tanlover!
So, I need a better way at getting my buns to stop doing something bad. Abbie is starting to get startled when I begin yelling. It’s quite sad. When she sees a bunny doing something bad she is already heading to my bedroom because she knows I will soon be yelling at one to stop, or clapping my hands. She doesn’t like loud noises.
She is the one who alerts me a bunny is doing something bad because she will suddenly get up, and walk to the bedroom. That’s when I realize Harley is digging in my carpet, or Sally is in my sink. (that seriously just happened!!)
I would through stuffed animals but Abbie has a high fetch drive and when I do that, she persues the toy and that TERRIFIES the buns and I don’t want them to quit trusting my dog lol
I guess I can just get up every 5 seconds to correct their behavior but I’m lazy! Gah! lol They have spurts of being bad and then they get all cute and sweet again. Then right when I’m back to relaxing they are bad again.
Oh wow Tanlover! That’s great! Congrats on the (not quite yet) new job!
NBO – That is so cute. Abbie is very smart to associate your yelling with certain rabbit behaviors.
Congrats Tanlover!!!
Congrats on the soon-to-be job TL!
NBO – Abbie sounds like one smart fluffy cookie ![]()
Congrats Tanlover!
I signed a lease for my new apartment a few days ago! I’m moving at the end of August. I’m so excited ![]()
Congrats TL
Sounds like a great place to work!
Yay! So much great news!
Congratulations tanlover! That’s amazon news! I hope you really enjoy your new job, when do you start?
Congratulations to Caroline22 too!
Are blue eyes rare in rabbits? I never realised Buttons had blue eyes, they’re very light and I researched blue eyes to see if he could see less than darker eyed bunnies but I couldn’t find anything. He’s developed a weird phobia of me in my room (nowhere else) and I thought maybe that was why?
Thanks, everyone! It was hysterical. I was actually in the middle of another job interview (for the same company but different place – this hospital has a million hospitals and offices around here – at least 10) when they called me to tell me! I hope they make me an offer soon! I feel like it’s not actually mine…until they make the offer and I can finally actually accept! LOL. I was recently made Manager at Quiznos. Which is nice because of the pay raise but really sucks in every other aspect. I like managing people – but once you’ve been at a store like that for TWO years… it’s almost…. not a blessing. It’s just more work on a small paycheck. Even as Manager I only make $9.50 an hour. If I didn’t live with my BF, it would barely be enough to make ends meet around here… Hannaroo, I won’t know when I start until they call me back with an actual offer! Hopefully sooner rather than later….
I’m not sure if it’s really that rare. My Simba has bright beautiful blue eyes. Noras eyes are a light grey which is something I have never seen! But sometimes her eyes turn red (really). Which is why we think she scans so much. You should’ve seen her with the e-collar on from her spay. Poor girl was scanning up a storm. I literally thought she was going to topple over from scanning so hard.
NBO – Have you tried the squirt bottle? I use it on my buns to make them stop. Some people don’t like it… but it’s one of the only things that will stop my Tans from being total terrors and tearing my house into pieces. Plus then I’m not scaring ALL of them when it’s only one causing problems.
Nora is finally healed from her spay (almost!). We took off her e-collar today. The scab fell off and theres only a tiny line from the incision now. I can’t wait to start bonding! I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen!!!! I will probably hate my life a week into the bonding process like always… but it’s always so worth it in the end.
It sounds like things are changing for the better for you! They”ll let you know soon I’m sure! I’m glad Nora’ s healing well now! what a terror! By the time she’s calmed down and bonded life will be much easier!
my 2nd xpen arrived yesterday but nobody was in so I’m picking it up on Monday morning! I’m so excited!!! I’m going to start pre bonding right away (it’s 3 weeks since they were done and both are much calmer, Buttons in particular) I’ll have there pens side by side so they can enjoy hours of exercise and getting used to one another again although they’ve smelt eachother through bars before and there was curiosity but no aggression. If things go well I can start swapping litter trays and putting in stuffed toys (although only when supervised, Suri is a nibbler!) If all goes well after a week I can start bonding, if not I can leave it a while and it gives me a heads up on their reaction. I can’t wait! I love my bunnies but having them in seperate houses and seperate exercise times and seperate handling times has been hard work with working full time and trying to fit everything else around them!
Wow grey eyes must be pretty, I never realised Buttons had blue eyes until today! I check him over at least twice a day to check he’s healthy too!
So our little bunny actually jumped up on my daughters bed this morning!!! She was on it and he jumped up, cuddled with her for a few and then hopped back down, all by himself!!! I was impressed but at the same time kind of worried. Are they okay jumping down from that high of a distance? I mean her bed isn’t raised or anything, its a normal height. I guess I don’t really know how high bunnies can jump and be okay. This probably sounds like a silly question lol.
I JUST found out that one of my BFFs has wanted a bunny like forever, but her parents won’t let her get one. Dad told her that I was only getting a rabbit because I had done like 60+ hours of research (which is totally true). So I reccomended this site to her. ![]()
Yes, my friend was very surprised that I had done 60+ hours of research!
I STILL do constant research and I have had my buns for 6 months! :p I love learning new things about them
Yay – Hannaroo!!! My 2nd x-pen just arrived also! I have to pick it up but boy are they expensive. Sidney figured out how to jump the 36″ ones so I had to upgrade all of ours to 48″! Lets hope she can’t jump the new ones! We had bought one and just make their area smaller and had to order another because the store only had one in stock! And I couldn’t find them anywhere else around here.
Fee – as long as he’s comfortable jumping it I’m sure he’ll be fine. As I just said, Sidney jumped my 36″ x pen and I highly doubt that’s how high your daughters bed is!!!
Agreed, NBO. Over a year later and I’m STILL always researching about these little furballs also!
Hmmm, was just doing laundry…
You know you’re a bunny parent when all your towels have holes in them! Oyyyyyyyyy.
Yeah. I plan to never stop learning things about rabbits! Or any animal. I’ve also done 20+ hours researching dogs, 10+ looking at chicknes, 5-ish hours on hamsters, 7-ish researching sheep, and 2-ish looking at awesome fish tanks! Yep, I plan to be a multi-pet owner! Even if it won’t happen while I live in the house that my parents own, I love most animals! And if I must, I was born with great puppy dog eyes! (Perfect for parents and landlords, if all else fails!)
Ok! good! Thanks for putting me at ease ! lol
Wooly has blue eyes. =) He is vienna marked.
Tanlover – Sounds like you had a good chance getting in somewhere with them. LOL Don’t feel bad about working at Quiznos. Hey, at least you can say “manager” on future resumes. =p
Tanlover – mine have boxes and big pots of compost to dig in so I use a large puppy pen (they have the run of the garden whenever I’m in as they just LOVE grass!) But Suri recently discovered how to open the puppy door! I walked away after petting her and I got to the other side of the garden and she was hopping after me! She’s also pretty strong, she pulls out a big photo frame behind my wardrobe whenever she wants!
Haha Sydney’s a right little Houdini, how’d you keep up with them?! Alot of my towels have holes in! After their spay/neuter I only have two bunny towels left!
Fee- mine shoot off my bed all the time so your bun should be fine! They think my beds some kind of bouncy castle
Colleen, I was the same way growing up.
. My parents always said no to me getting a bunny and so to prove to them I did all this research and shared it with them for like the remaining time I lived with them. I never got that bunny though pfft! I’ve ALWAYS wanted a bunny and then when I finally owned my own house I asked my husband if we could have one, and he was like NO! D: and i was thinking i would NEVER have a bunny. But then he surprised me with two bundle of joys! So 10+ years of always always wanting a bunny I finally have them! And they are spoiled rotten!
I also have a fish tank I enjoy taking care of too. It’s a lot of work. I suction out the gravel once a week and do 25% water changes. I just really enjoy taking care of things I think lol a few months ago one of my sunset gouramis developed a huge mass on its back and made him unable to swim properly and my angelfish were picking on him so i put him in a small hospital tank. And since he couldn’t swim I would put him in a net, in the hospital tank so he would be right by the surface and then feed him each individual flake right by his cute little mouth for each of his meals lol my husband seriously thought I was crazy for not just flushing him
I did that twice a day for 3 weeks until he got better! Now he’s my favorite one lol I can’t just dispose of a live fish like that and I CAN’T stand watching my others eat him alive so I was like, I’ll just put him in the hospital tank until he died. But then I didn’t want him to feel hungry and so I fed him and then I ended up just going overboard with the whole thing lmao.
Yeah! Good for you! I told my dad that soon we will need to build or buy another house “for all the rabbits that In will get. My brother asked my dad “if I create a PowerPoint showing why I think I should play football, will that actually increase my chances of playing football?” and dad said yes. So I asked him: “If I create a PowerPoint for each type of animal that I want, will that increase my chnces of getting them?” and Dad replied with: “It will INCREASE your chances.” LOL!
I guess you’ve never actually moved cross country unless you’ve sat on your windowsill using a large Uhual box as a table, eating cereal for dinner, wondering about how you will sleep without your mattress.
Dad brought up a go0od point about the dog, sheep, fish, and pretty much anything else. He asked “What will you do with those pets once you go to college?” I already had that planned out. I said “I will go to a pet-friendly college. Yes, they won’t take sheep, which is okay, but the University of Illinios allows “companion animals” such as dogs, cats, and rabbit. They will also allow fish.
I HAVE STARTED BONDING! If anyone is interested in following my FIVE BUNNY BONDING THREAD, feel free to hop over!
As usual I will need all the advice I can get. Although it has been going wonderfully today! They have been together for THREE hours.
Guys please pray for my husband and I over the next few days. I can’t go into detail just yet but we need prayers that everything works out accordingly. If it doesn’t, well…I’m not sure what I will do. Pray lots and hard, please!
Okay. ((((Vibes))))
Finally found a college that is pet friendly.
There are a few colleges that except “small, caged animals”, which will exclude my rabbit, because I want it to have it’s own room, so I decided against those.
Colleen, please don’t deny a college just because they deny a animal that you don’t yet have. Think about your future first. Once you can get off campus you can get a bunny. But choose a great school based on their courses they offer for what you plan to do, not wether they accept animals or not. BUT, in their “small caged animals allowed” may actually include rabbits. So call and ask.
Oh no NBO! I don’t know what’s wrong, but I do hope everything works out okay.
Colleen – I agree with NBO, ask them if rabbits count as a “caged pet”. Just don’t tell them that your “caged rabbit” will actually not be in a cage all the time. See what they say.
**sigh** My honey is not doing as well as I had hoped. The flavor just isn’t coming out. I tasted them and you can’t really taste the herbs in there at all. I guess I will have to try to rapid prep method that involves heating the honey up. =(
Thanks for the vibes. Very much appreciated, you have no idea how appreciated.
LBJ, just you try “sunning” the honey? I thought I remember you mentioning that? Is there a reason you aren’t wanting to do the heating method?
Yeah, they have sat on and off in the sunlight. I was told that if you heat the honey up, it won’t last as long afterward. Not sure how true that is. I was going for the slow method, but it has been a week of having the herbs soaking. I tasted the honey and there really isn’t any added flavor.
Maybe it just takes longer.. i just read something about herb infused honey that says up to 2 weeks to steep the flavor in.
(((More vibes for NBO))) whatever’s going on I hope it resolves itself ![]()
So I started pre bonding this morning! I picked up the new puppy pen and set them up next to one another! So far so good! I put them out for half and hour this morning about an inch apart and they seemed curious but otherwise ignored one another. I switched their litter trays and they were more interested in eating hay than eachother. I’ve done the same again this evening but with the bars touching and buttons has done a bit of marking but again, no aggression and Suri even does binkies when she interacts with him. Again lots of grass/hay eating and grooming next to eachother.
MB – Yes, you can do it for up to two weeks. I would have thought there would be some flavor by now though.
What quantity of herbs did you put in? May need more, if theres no flavor at all.
Spent most of my day at the hospital with my husband. His vision blacked out during his PT and the military made him go to the ER to get checked out. He is fine he just go too hot because they had PT at 12 and he got too dehydrated. They gave him some iv fluids and electrolytes to get him back on track.
Well, the recipe said 6 sprigs of mint for 2 cups. I had less than a cup, but I still did 4 sprigs. I don’t know. I’m afraid it isn’t going to turn out well. The event is Saturday.
Sigh… It’s been almost a week and still no more response from the job! I’m getting nervous although my boyfriend keeps telling me not to be. That they already said I’m their final candidate and HR has already approved my background check. Sigh… Why do these things have to take so long?
The bonding is going okay. Day 3 and I’m already exhausted, haha!
NBO – Sending lots of vibes your way!!
Vibes for your husband and you NBO!
TL – I’m on day 25 (or 26? I’m losing count, lol) and I’m way past ready to be done, lol. Keeping up a thread about it really has helped me keep up my enthusiasm for it. Everyone here is so supportive.
I’m about to start an all day bonding session and I hope they do well enough for me to get some baking done. I want to test out some vegan cake recipes today for an upcoming friend’s birthday party.
Thanks for all the vibes and prayers you guys because they WORKED!!
Everything is going to be alright. My husbands eczema made an appearance today. He gets an outbreak of it when he is oober stressed. I haven’t seen it for 3 years! But I’m glad everything worked out the way it needed to and he doesn’t have to be so stressed anymore.
Today is going to be such a great day, I can feel it! See ya later!
)
So happy to hear that, NBO!
They called me yesterday and offered me the job! I obviously accepted – I’m insanely excited! I start July 8th!
MD, hahahaah! So true. I don’t know why I do long sessions other than to kill myself but it’s always worked well for my group so it’s what I’m going to keep doing!
congrats on the job tan!!! Yay for your husband too newbunnyowner!!!
NBO – Glad to hear everything worked out! =)
Tanlover – Oh boy! I guess they just take a long time to get through things. I remember the local public school district being like that. Took them FOREVER to do a background check and process paperwork.
Hey guys, just randomly popping in, but I had a realization today- This thing would make a great hay dispenser! I asked the people at the Wawa, and they said that they would give me the box once they were done ( I don’t eat York ). I think I might cover it in a more attractive paper, though.
What do you think?
YAY!!!!! You’ll have to contain yourself until then! Good job you have the bonding to keep you occupied!
Today I went indoor rock climbing and it was so much fun! Every muscle in my body is sore! I’m going to get a membership when I get back from my vacation because I can see myself going much more often!
We’re leaving for Boston, MA tomorrow. I’m so sad.
TL- I was going to tell you not to worry because I had to wait to find out two months after interviewing if I got my teaching job lol. They had to move current teachers around and figure out where I would be but they were unsure if there would even be a spot, but I found out two months later that I had the job! I was super stressed. BUT since you already found out I will just say Congratulations!!!!
My honey tastes minty!!!! =D
Now if my other flavors would work out, then all will be good.
Wow, what a crazy day I had. So much had to be done. I was assigned a VERY unpleasant job (it was gross). I almost got bitten twice. BUT the cutest family from Australia paid me a visit. It was fun telling them about the animals and pointing out wild birds outside. =)
LBJ- I know I could probably look at your history but I was just curious what your job is exactly. Are you a wildlife person?
I work at a nature center. =)
Thank you for the congrats everyone! I’m incredibly excited to start the new job. I am working at Quiznos for another week. My boss (the owner) was mad that I never told him I was looking for another job… but c’mon, it’s Quiznos! Did he think I wanted to be there forever? Not to mention, if you’ve been in this chat for a long time… you know I’ve been looking for a better job for almost a year n a half! I’m not going to apologize for wanting to better myself, especially when I gave him a 2 weeks notice and didn’t just up and quit.
For anyone not following my bonding chat – I’m doing an all-nighter bonding session with my five buns tonight so I’ll probably be up on and off all night! Feel free to chat if anyone is bored!
NBO – I’m glad you found a sport you like, especially because being so skinny bothers you. Working out is so good for building muscle and becoming toned. Maybe it will be a blessing for you! Have you tried working out to gain muscle in the past? If people make comments about you doing it to lose weight then they are inconsiderate fools. And you shouldn’t give them a second thought. I know it’s easier said than done. But seriously, people who say that stuff are just insecure about themselves and saying stuff probably makes them feel better.
Thanks Tanlover! I still can’t go to the gym. It’s just too terrifying for me lol BUT it has been SO much easier for me to ignore those comments I frequently get from my co workers now. I still hear it ALL the time, almost every shift, but it’s not affecting me as much anymore
But yes, I can’t wait to go back! I’m going back on Sunday, actually
The Firefly music festival is going on for the weekend and it took me 2.5 hours to drive 2 miles down the road to go to work! I left an hour early and I was still 1.5 hours late! Luckily, work was very understanding about it. I can’t wait for that end
Can’t wait to see how the all night bonding goes. They sure got to that point quickly!
Well, my honey seemed to go over well with the crowd. The lavender wasn’t very strong, but my coworker said her lavender stuff didn’t turn out really well either. Lavender is probably hard to do, I don’t know. Anyway, people liked it. I only got one comment from a lady saying she couldn’t taste anything. I think she just couldn’t taste very well. LOL =p
What event was this for the honey? Was this a contest or something? Lol
They were having a festival thing where I work. I was sort of strong-armed into doing something for the tasting stuff, so I picked honey.
We went to go see Bear today! For those that aren’t aware, I made the hard decision to rehome him about a month ago because he wasn’t happy in this tiny house.
Anyhoo, it was the CUTEST thing I have ever seen! We pulled up to their house and Abbie was looking somewhat confused as to why we were there and then she saw a familiar face peer from the window and she went CRAZY! She was crying and begging and I let her out of the car and she ran SO fast to greet Bear and she was jumping up trying to give him kisses and crying the entire time! She was so excited she peed everywhere! lol I got all teary eyed watching their reunion.
The departure was actually really hard because when I opened up my truck to get in Bear tried climbing into my truck. His new owner took him by the collar and waited with him by his front door and when I started my truck Bear slipped out of his collar and ran to my truck and he had the saddest look on his face. He is incredibly happy with his new family, don’t get me wrong, but I think his loyalty to us is still very strong. We are hoping that after a few visits Bear will get the idea that we aren’t there to pick him up and that is his home. We stayed for like 5 hours and had so much fun catching up and letting the two dogs play. I’m so glad Abbie can still see Bear once a month and play with him. She loves him so much ![]()
Aww, poor Bear. That must be hard. At least he seems happy there so that makes it a little easier. I’m sure he will catch on soon though. Aren’t you getting a new friend for Abbie?
Well today was pretty quiet. It wasn’t as hot today as they thought it was going to be. I am tired though (as usual). Part of it is because I was woken at 4:45 this morning. A crazy loud clap of thunder and bright light both at pretty much the same time. That means it was close. Jolted me from my sleep. It was so loud that it vibrated the windows and caused my car alarm to go off. I looked around when I left for work, but I didn’t see anything obvious. I have no clue how close it actually was.
Yeah, I’m friends on facebook with his new parents and they post pictures all the time of him. he is indeed spoiled there and so so happy! We are looking into getting Abbie a companion but it won’t be until late this year or early next year. And even when she does have a new brother or sister she will still get the pleasure of seeing Bear every month or so.She just loves him too much to not let them have dates!
I love thunderstorms! Except it’s going to be raining Mon,Tues, Thur, Fri, Sat, and then Sun again lol and It rained today too so that one day break we get on Wednesday I’ll be sure to let the buns outside to get some play time in. They LOVE it out there!
We have had a bit too much rain. We were in a drought last year (well, a lot of places were). We got so much rain so fast this late spring/early summer. I don’t know how much rain we got last night. Hopefully not too much. We have actually had discussions where I work about what will happen if the water gets much higher in the wetland area. Some things might be in danger of flooding and we would need sand bags. =\
Had the worse case of vertigo this morning. The room was spinning so fast. Especially when I moved and I couldn’t walk in a straight line without falling or staggering. It was just terrible. I’m feeling a lot better now though. The room is barely moving and I only notice it if I am trying to concentrate on doing something or if I lay down it gets really bad again.
it’s so dry,, i’m out in the morning having to water the cactus.
Ox is having his first checkup at the vet tomorrow. I’m also going to have them trim his nails because he’s such a butt for me, they’re so long they’re probably hurting him now. And I’m also going to have them clipper out the bunch of mats he has above his tail. Hopefully once these are done I can just focus on pampering him instead of fixing the wrongs he had to put up with when he lived in his last home.
Wish us luck!
NBO – Wow, hope you’re better now. Is this something that is ongoing?
Mike – Haha! Watering the cactus. =p
Well we got more rain. Hopefully everything is okay out there. I didn’t get any emergency calls though. LOL
This is actually the first time it has ever happened to me. i was bed ridden for about 4 hours because the spinning was just too intense. I’m still feeling funky but it’s only when I’m up cleaning, tending to the bunnies or something the room starts to sway or I lose my footing a little bit. Poor buns didnt get the chance to come out today because I’ve been feeling off and just not feeling like getting up and down tending to their naughty behaviors lol but I’m A LOT better than I was this morning.
If it happens again ill go to my dr and have her check my ears. But I don’t think she would be able to get me in before I leave for Texas anyways so I haven’t bothered calling her about it. And I don’t find it necessary to go to the ER.
Lots of good vibes for Ox’s vet check!

Mike – Haha! Watering the cactus. =p

Wow, it looks to be pretty warm there. It was actually supposed to be hotter yesterday and today, but for some reason it didn’t get up to what they thought. I guess all the cloud cover? Anyway, they are expecting mid-90s for the rest of the week.
I HAVE A BONDED QUINTET! =)
Yay! Grats!!!
Congratulations tanlover! It’s your week! I think MD is almost there too! I also successfully bonded Buttons and Suri in 5 days this week! Only had to spray them 5 times!
I live in the UK and its going to be 22 degrees today and have a few days off (lie ins woop!) So I’m setting up their outdoor pen with lots of boxes, jellyfish toys, rattles and hiding treats about!
Ahhhhh! Congrats Tanlover!
How exciting!
Congrats Tanlover, that’s awesome
You should share pics of them all playing around ![]()
Yay! Congrats TL!
I’m going to watch mine another night but I’m calling it. They are BONDED!
I’m very excited this morning. ![]()
So many exciting bonds this week! Congrats Hannaroo also! I didn’t realize you actually got them bonded!!! =D
AND WHOOOOOO MD!
Thanks everyone for the congrats. Sometimes I don’t think I’d be able to get through it without the BB community to lean on. Really, it can be so stressful but having cheerleaders through my posts the whole way through was AWESOME!

Agree 10000% !
Woohoo! How exciting! I can’t wait to see when you bond inara and helo into your group, MD
My gosh I have slept the whole day! It’s almost 3 pm here. I can’t knock the sea sickness feeling out so I just sleep :p my husband is bringing me home motion sickness medicine when he gets off work. Hopefully that will help me out! The room isn’t spinning anymore but my balance is feeling really really weird when I’m walking around and it makes me feel woozy.
There is a bunny for free thats 7 months old, and he is has the prettiest silver coloring and he’s neutered and I really wanted him! My husband said 2 is enough. Makes me sad because usually free bunnies end up in not so great hands and I knew he would be well loved and cared for here. He’s a silver fox rabbit I believe. I’ll post a picture but I wish I could take him under my wing ![]()
Here is the cutie that I was wanting to get!
Went to the vet today and now I’m just very angry at my Uncle and his wife, whom owned Ox previously.
His teeth are overgrown, so we need to go back in next Tuesday and have them ground down, which is incredibly rare in a rabbit who’s only 1. He’s also underweight because he’s not chewing his food properly and isn’t getting all his nutrition because of it.
Sadly neither of these things surprise me. My uncle bought this rabbit for his wife because she thought he was cute and fluffy, but they had no idea what kind of care rabbits required. He didn’t have constant hay, he didn’t get constant pellets during his first few months, in fact he wasn’t even fed everyday!
My aunt’s excuse was that she was too tired to get him food or let him out of his 24 in x 24 in wire bottom cage when she got home from work. BLAAAHH, it’s so frustrating to know that this little bun boy who deserves nothing but the best was given such subpar treatment prior to coming here.
But his nails were done at least and they’re going to shave out his mats when they put him under next week.
I also have a question, the vet said that for the grinding down of the teeth he’d need to be given as much anesthetic as a 60 ib dog, does this seem correct to everyone here?
I mean the guy seems pretty rabbit savvy, or at least he seems to see quite a lot in his practice. But I just want to make sure.
I’m glad Ox is getting the care he needs now
Poor guy.
So remember how I had that big vertigo attack yesterday for no apparent reason? Well, turns out yesterday my twin brother had to leave work early due to major pain in his ear and turns out he has a major ear infection! Talk about crazy relevance! TWIN POWER! lol We are thousands of miles away and he is still all up in my life! lol Can’t wait to see him again
So you think you have an ear infection NBO?
I don’t think I have an infection. I feel just fine and having no pain. And I’m back to my normal self again. I just thought it was quite ironic that my twin brother and I both were suffering from some sort of inner ear issue at the exact same time!
Usually vertigo happens when there is an inner ear problem. But I’m not really concerned about it. I’m back to feeling alright for the most part ![]()
My balance is still a little off but I really am feeling so much better! ![]()
Glad you’re feeling better, NBO. Vertigo is a butt. You and your twin’s ‘twinergy’ must be extra strong this week. ![]()
Tanlover- I was actually only supposed to prebond this week but they got on so well (grooming eachother through the bars and binkying whenever they saw eachother) that I just started. Kinda a little influenced by watching your post. Longer and intense bonding sessions worked 100x more than the shorter ones. I was lucky they bonded so quick but I’d taken ? NBO’ s advice and housed them next to eachother while they were separated! I also watched ME and Bams posts to look at the body language so it all helped!!!
NBO- I’m so glad your feeling better, they do say that twins can sense when the other is in trouble! the silver Fox is beautiful! I have just blocked all the rehoming sites on my kindle as I almost contacted someone about a third bun but decided to wait until I move house. There’s just SO many out there! Plus the bunnies are going through so much hay my bank account is suffering! Haha!
Hi NBO,
My Pascal is a Silver Fox but he is the solid colour with the silver skirt. Pascal’s sisters Prada and Paris however are the agouti and flecked like the little guy in the pic. They are beautiful buns but they do get largish….Not Flemmie Largish but I would say a good 8-10 pounds.
SCORE!!!! Back up cage for a bunny bungalow at $49 delivered…
http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/3-level-multi-purpose-pet-cage/?cm_mmc=TaxInvoice-_-PayPal-_-20130626-_-Product
Fellow Aussie BBers, not sure how long its going to last but I have been eyeing this off in the shops and the $200 price tag put me off. Got it for $49 delivered free (ignore the half price delivery banner at the top of the page) a couple of custom made wooden shelves and cover the ramps in seagrass tiles and it will be a perfect spare bungalow or a honey moon cottage for Pascal and Nermal.
The deals don’t last long there so move swiftly if you are interested.
Roberta, it’s not that much bigger than Apollos current pet store cage! But it’s a useful link, thanks! ![]()
Mine love levels, and having ramps to run up is the big thing for them. Generally they are free range for most of the night and day.
Hmm, hot flashes. This isn’t good. Kind of hard to concentrate on what I need to concentrate on.
I can’t believe June is almost over. This is a nightmare. The summer will be gone and I will still be without a thesis.
I have a paragraph added. And now I’m here again for some reason. *sigh*
You’re letting yourself get distracted, focus, LBJ. You’ll just get mad at yourself if you don’t. ![]()
MB, it isn’t a difficult thing to do. LOL Letting myself get distracted, I mean. It has become a huge barrier and is preventing my progress. It is hard to explain, but I just can’t seem to do what I need to do. No matter how much I want to. I often feel defeated and hopeless because everything seems like SO MUCH and I can’t possibly climb that mountain.
We are in Iowa, moving to Boston. Currently watching the news. They are on the topic of Paula Deen.
Set a timeline for yourself then. Say, half an hour of working on it, then you can have a half hour to be distracted. Then back to work for another half hour! Do it in little spurts so that you can feel like you’re getting something done without being too overwhelmed. Small bumps instead of mountains are much easier to climb ![]()
Oh my husband is throwing a fit because his laptop charger no longer works. I have told him countless times to put his stuff away when they aren’t being used. Hopefully he takes this as a lesson. The bunnies have nibbled my charger once. Luckily it still works but its not their fault, it’s mine. Just like its all my husbands fault because he knows they will chew given the opportunity. *sigh*
Heh, I’m on a timeline alright. Unfortunately, I am way behind. Small bumps works, just as long as I have a large block of time to work on things. It takes me awhile to get everything together and figure out where I need to look and what I need to write. So if I don’t have a large block of time, I usually don’t make any progress since progress is slow to start and I run out of time.
NBO – Silly, I know. I think it might be a boy thing.
Okay, so I kinda have 4 full pages o’ stuff. How many do I need? What? 50 or so? Great. See what I mean about mountains. *sigh* At least I was able to do a little something today. Not sure what got into me.
It’s probably because 50 sounds like a book! When is this due?
And yeah, he made a big fit but he just did a clean cut on the cord with scissors and reconnected all the little wires in the rubber part in the charger and then duct taped it together. So it’s now working again! So he complained for no reason! lol Maybe this time he will be more careful :p
He doesn’t have a tight bond with the rabbits so anytime they do anything naughty he grumbles. I’m always running around trying to keep things tidy and keep them from chewing his stuff. He can’t complain because HE’S the one who got the bunnies as a surprise for me! lol And not gonna lie, since getting the rabbits my husband is getting A LOT better at picking up his close from the floor. The bunnies are training my husband for me :p
Big Day Tomorrow… Starsky my foster bun is off to be neutered. I have to drop him at the vet at 7.30am… Lots to do tonight to prepare.
Wash out the carrier and try to get his area as clean as possible so it is only a short tidy after I pick him up and bring him home. Will be doing so straight from work unless I can get away a bit earlier…
Hopefully he will be a much happier little guy, not that he isn’t happy now. It should also be much easier to find a long term foster or forever hoe if he isn’t humping everything and peeing on his blankies.
NBO – I was supposed to be done in time for December graduation. The thesis is a lot of writing itself. But I also have to do the study part (which are going to be surveys, unfortunately).
That’s cute. You’re buns are teaching your husband. =D
LBJ10, I feel your pain. I’m writing my preliminary exam – 20 to 40 page essay which I need to defend – and it’s taking me forever. It’s so hard to get in a good writing flow. After that it’s finishing lab work and writing my thesis. Scary!!!
Bubbles – Oh it’s nice to hear of someone else struggling. Not that I want you to be struggling. LOL It’s just nice to know I’m not the only one.
Another hour and I can ring the vet to see how Starsky went with his neuter. Always worry about the buns even if he is a foster…..he is such a sweet little guy.
Crud the people who are going to bun sit for 3 weeks for me just recently purchased a 8 week old beagle/border collie mix! I don’t trust a puppy with sharp needle teeth around my bunnies! Would the bunnies do ok confined for 3 weeks to their cage? I sure hope so… I just don’t want to risk that puppy using them as a chew toy :/

Bubbles – Oh it’s nice to hear of someone else struggling. Not that I want you to be struggling. LOL It’s just nice to know I’m not the only one.
Oh, I know what you mean! Is it your masters or phd thesis?
LBJ10 and BubblesJo: Good luck with your writing! Don’t get discouraged. ![]()
Are your pets usually being babies about getting their flea medication put on? We did Lily the other day, she hid under the bed for a little while afterwards and for the rest of the evening she was very skittish, jumping at every sound. Our dog is even worse, she’ll cower and every time a drop hits her skin she flinches as if we’re beating her. ![]()
We just finished rewatching the first season of Game of Thrones, now we can finally get started on the second season! Very excited! ![]()
Hazel, our dogs HATE getting treated! A couple weeks ago when we went back packing I decided it be best to treat Abbie just in case and she always tries to roll over on her back and expose her belly lol
And Bear when we treat him he starts drooling! It’s like a water fountain! Even when he sees the application and we haven’t even started putting it on yet he will just start drooling. Just got to look at him with the application in your hand and he lowers his head and its just a mess. We started having to treat him outside because he drooled so much lol he does it with spritz cologne too though lol
I could just imagine how difficult my life would be if I had to give the Tans flea medication….. Hazel, we feel each others pain!
Including tonight – I have only two more days of working at Quiznos! Then I have a week off before beginning my other job on the 8th… I’m so insanely excited but also insanely nervous! It’s a big jump from what I’ve been currently doing but it will be much better I’m sure.
I’m currently reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, I’m on the third and last one – has anyone else read them? Because I seriously feel like the series is missing something… idk what but each of the first two books I’ve been like mmmm, not so impressed by. Maybe it’s because of such the work up everyone gave them that I had my hopes for the books too high?

Bubbles – Oh it’s nice to hear of someone else struggling. Not that I want you to be struggling. LOL It’s just nice to know I’m not the only one.Oh, I know what you mean! Is it your masters or phd thesis?
I’ve been trying to get through this for so long, it should be a phd. But no, it’s a masters.
I had such a tight deadline for my thesis that I had to write it one way or another. It had to be in by January 2nd or it wouldn’t be accepted :S
My phd is much less strict, and I’m doing part time work, so it’s a very different vibe. And quite honestly, I’m quite scared about the prelim exam, which makes me not want to work on it :S
You have to do a preliminary exam? Yuck. I was supposed to do my comps this spring, but my adviser refused. Then he dumped me. =\
Does anyone watch hoarders? This lady hoarders everything! She has food stowed away from over 20 years ago! The rats eat on it and then die D:
Tanlover- I read all of them and and really really liked them although there are parts that DRAG because not much really happens. I think my favourite was the first though. Now I’m reading the da Vinci code but I’ve already seen the movie so it’s hard to get into because the film was pretty close to the book anyways! 0
NBO- I’ve watched that! It must be pretty bad to kill of wild rats! ikes these places must smell! In one episode they put all this ladies junk in storage and she cried and sat amongst it because she couldn’t cope with loosing it all!”
HI NBO123,
I watch it occasionally, I feel sorry for some of them and others just frustrate me. I have a friend who is a horder but she has come out and declared it and asked for help…Pretty proud of her right now and made a point of letting her know.
LBJ – Prelim is standard here for PhDs. It sucks, but I need to do it. My supervisor is the grad coordinator, so he makes sure I do everything
Your supervisor dumped you? That is awful!!! I hope you got another, better, supervisor.
Bubbles – I’ve heard some fields require them and some don’t. I suppose it depends on the school too. Yes, my adviser dumped me. He flat out said he did not want to be my adviser anymore. I have been in limbo for the last year. My new adviser isn’t really my adviser. He isn’t on paper anyway. He is trying to help me, but I understand he has other grad students to worry about. The last time I went to talk to him, I had to go to where he was conducting a study and talk to him between sessions.
Hope everybunny and their slaves are staying cool through the heat wave.
Heat wave? What’s this heat wave you speak of? =p
The west got up to 120f, it stopped just shy of my state, thankfully !
I’m in the sun room with the heater on making sure Starsky doesn’t get cold post neuter. It’s about 13C (55F) at the moment having edged its way up from 5C(41F)
Wow! We’re having a bit of a “cold” snap here. It is supposed to struggle to make it to 80 the next few days. Normally, it is in the upper 90s for the Fourth. It will actually be a pleasant Fourth this year. Well, except I have to work.
LBJ, best of luck. It sucks to be in that situation. Supervisors are supposed to help you, not make life harder.
Bubbles – Thanks! I’m pretty much over the trauma now. LOL
I suppose you haven’t been around here long enough to know the whole story of what happened and how much stress it has caused me. Things are at least moving forward now thesis-wise and my financial situation has improved somewhat too. Hopefully your dissertation will go smoothly with no problems. =)
i had a sparrow and a packrat just keel over and die in my packyard from the heat.
i had to huck them over the fence with the pool skimmer before a rattler smelled them and came INTO my yard.
there are so many feathers swirling around my back porch as they all gather under it for shade.
I have to go out there weekly with a shopvac to suck everything up
Yikes. Poor things, hope they can find enough shelter that it doesn’t hurt the wild populations too much. California was hitting 122f I saw and texas around 116. ![]()
Lord I cut Harley’s nail too short and he was beeding everywhere! I felt so bad! I posted on my facebook and someone says and I quote, ” if not cut they will be pushed out by a new nail [my rabbit did this] kinda like baby teeth” I was just…speechless
‘m like – you should start up a pillow factory
Awww, NBO! We actually just did nail trimmings this weekend and did the same thing to Nora but she didn’t bleed very much at all.
Today I did my drug test for my new job! And I signed up and registered for classes also! For business management.
AND last night I got to help our rescue, Rabbit Wranglers, go out and catch a stray rabbit! He was adorable. There were a ton of them but it’s so hard to catch them when there’s so much woody area for them to run into. There’s another guy there we put on high alert as he has very bad malocclusion and his tooth was jutting out horribly. He was also injured in his hind leg but since he’s just so on alert from his injuries we weren’t able to catch him. We put up a trap for someone to check a few times a day in the hopes that we can get him. At least we got one! It’s really depressing though. We caught the one on someones property and the only reason the guy let us was because he was a “new rabbit around here”. So we could take him. He was dead set on not letting us capture any of the others. He says they are like pets to him…. pets that he doesn’t take care of? He feeds them and he sold a litter of buns to the Petland out here. URGH. I almost died when I heard that as thats where we picked up Nora when she was so sick. He said “we sold them to them because they would find them good homes”… are you kidding me? So basically there not his pets, but they are but he doesn’t want to care for them… he kept saying they’re like wild rabbits now. They’ve been here for years. Except them he mentioned a white one that they hadn’t seen around lately…. I wonder why. It’s probably dead thanks to psychos like you. UGH. It’s so hard to hold your cool with people like that… but since the rabbit was on his property we HAD to be nice so we could at least get the one we found… it was so frustrating though! But totally worth it when we caught the one. He’s going for his vet visit on Tuesday to see if he’s healthy enough to find a forever home! Yayyyyyyy.
