Well, it’s that time of year again, and all the little baby spiders are coming out. My first clue: I had to take out the trash, and there were at least a thousand baby spiders on the trash can. I want to squish them all, because I know that they will grow up soon. But at the same time, I don’t want to get anywhere near them, because there might be a few who decide to hitch a ride on me and then grow up inside the house. Does anyone know what to do with them?

Why are you killing them? Spiders are good. They eat yucky bugs. Is this a trash can outside?

That’s what I was going to point out. They remove bugs that are much worse, so once they scatter and leave your home, you will be free of many other nasty bugs.
I know how you feel about finding a large number of them together. I would be sure the trash can stays outside so they can find homes outdoors.

I’m not a huge fan of spiders, but please don’t kill things It isn’t their fault that they happened to be a spider rather than a cute little bunny, just leave them be and make sure you have good draft excluders so they cant come underneath. And as the others have said, they’ll get rid of other nasties in your home
I am so against killing anything other than in self defence or if it is a real danger to you like a big poisonous spidey, there is enough death in this world without us contributing

Indeed, if it’s outside, just leave them alone. A few may make it indoors, but most will just scatter and find homes outside to eat bugs and balance the natural world as they are meant to. Spiders eat bees, wasps, flies, mosquitoes, etc. If it’s inside, a can of spray insecticide works.
