Missing my little Finn buddy… Surgery went well today and he didn’t eat the vet… Another two days of observation with the drain then he can come home. He is such an escape artist he would be a misery at home locked in and he would find a way out for sure which would be disastrous whilst he is wearing the cone of shame to protect the drain in his face. Took him a care package with a blankie and his favourite foods.

Finngall Update…. Well Finn Gall the destroyer has out done himself. Post abscess surgery he has managed to remove the cone of shame over night and pull out the drain. The vet very politely said he was a bit grumpy and very naughty… Translation “Finn has been an Evil Shite who has tried to eat or maim the vet hospital staff and behaved appallingly” I did say that despite being a feral kitten he was very loving which is true unless you are a vet or vet tech/receptionist. Subsequently he had to be sedated to check the wound and further work was needed to debrade the area and replace the shunt/drain. It looks like an extra day in hospital so he may not be home till Friday night. They have suggested that a visit would not help as it would only distress him more when I left…sigh… so another night without my Finn….. The cost has chewed through my bunny spay budget so I am going to have to come up with a new strategy.. Bunnies must be done especially Pepper as once they hit two the chance of uterine cancer skyrockets… Pepper is just 2 and a bit and the girls are between 1 yr 5 mths and 1 yr 6 months. Then there’s Pascal who needs his boy bits sorted before he can join the warren.

Finn has had his daily check and the drain is working well and the wound is now nice and clean. Thankfully he hasn’t managed to get the COS off again. The vet said he can come home tomorrow. Now I will just have to Finngall proof all the exits tonight so when I get him home he can’t get out. Full shut down and will have to use the sand rake to isolate the back door again as he will have it off the hinges otherwise.
Have organised a half half payment for the costs and will start scheduling bunny spays within the fortnight. Hopefully I will have enough to still get Pepper and Pipi done first as a duo, then I will schedule each one at two or four week intervals till I am done.(or they are )

My little man Finn Gall got home Friday night… I was a bit worried as he did not eat until late last night when I held a dish of food up for him and rubbed water on his mouth.

Still not eating as he use to but atleast eating a little. Won’t be happy till he uses the litter tray though.
