  I got my Netherland Dwarf, Trixie, spayed two days ago. It’s been exactly 48 hours since we picked her up from the vet. For the first 24 hours, she wouldn’t eat or drink anything. We tried offering anything and everything to her, including all of her treats, and she wouldn’t have anything to do with any of it. I contacted my vet and he said it’s common for them to not eat in the first 24 hours, but as a last resort to feed her mushed up pellets and vegetable baby food through a syringe feeder. Last night we were able to feed her a few leaves of spinach, and force fed her some baby food and pellets last night and this morning, and got her to drink some water, but she still won’t eat or drink on her own. She is urinating and has pooped a couple times, but hasn’t been active or interested in food at all. I contacted my vet again and he said to just continue to force feed her until she is eating on her own, but I feel like 48 hours is too long for her to not be coming out of it. Please help! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

  That could be right – did the vet give you pain meds for her? I would continue the force feeding as recommended too.

  Unfortunately no pain meds. She was in a lot of pain yesterday but does seem to be doing better today as far as movement goes

  I would call your vet and specifically ask for pain meds since she’s in so much pain she’s not moving or eating on her own.

  Definitely ask for some pain meds – it’s important.

  My vet gave me 2 syringes of pain meds (1per day) for my boy bun after his procedure…and his surgery is not nearly as invasive as a girl bun. Definitely think he should have provided pain meds!

  Thank you all for your help! I did call and get some pain meds and it has made all the difference. She is now eating spinach and hay as well as drinking. And she’s playing with her toys yay for healthy bunnies!
