› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Mimzy having dental (and Jenna having a checkup) Saturday afternoon-vibes please?
Well tomorrow is Mimzy’s first dental in over a year. His good vet is doing the job, and while he’s under I’m taking my Yorkie, Jenna, in to see her vet (a different one in the same building) to have her assessed and see if she’s got tooth issues as well.
It’s snowing and raining still in Interior Alaska and that makes for nasty roads. We’ve had the worst spring that I’ve ever seen in 18 years here.
I’m thinking of having some blood drawn on Mimzy to check his liver/kidneys because he’s been on a high dose of metacam twice a day for the last year, plus he could use a possible xray to check the progression of his spondylosis. But I’ll ask the vet what she thinks.
Could we please have vibes and prayers for a good outcome for both my babies tomorrow? Many thanks in advance. ![]()
Tons of vibes for all of you!!

I want to thank everyone for your vibes and prayers…they have worked beautifully.
Both Jenna and Mimzy came through their appointments well today. His dental went brilliantly and although he was groggy as heck when we brought him home, he was trying to munch hay even in the carrier in the car. Which is saying something with my OH’s driving. lol….
He may be in a bit of pain now that the vet’s drugs have worn off. I just gave him his nightly metacam and if he’s still pained in the morning I’ll call and see if we can raise the dose for a few days.
He did have bloods drawn and the vet said all looked good but for possible anemia, but the test needs to be taken again in a few weeks as there may have been clotting that would spoil the results. He is going back at month’s end to have his upward eye looked at by the vet ophthalmologist. He has a cataract that something may need to be done about.
Jenna did well too, but will have to go back next week for a dental. The vet doesn’t like the look of her molars. Not sure if she may lose one or two. I really hope not, she doesn’t have that many to lose left.
My vet will back me up when I get her microchip registered also, as there is some worry that perhaps a prior owner may step forward to claim her. If anyone does, he will testify as to that we got her from rescue and only recently discovered her chip, that the rescue claimed she didn’t have one, and that I’ve been her keeper for the last three years, and in his words an exemplary one. I was so glad, and humbled, to get this endorsement. Now I am not so worried about registering the chip to my name. And getting her listed as an emotional service dog also.
I hope that Mimzy will be doing better tomorrow. He got his nails clipped and a bit of a bum shave since he’s had some poopy butt lately. It’s supposed to be snowing again tonight (the last of it hopefully) and I don’t want to have to run him back in for not eating. He’s perky enough, but seems to be washing his forefeet a lot. Maybe they took a nail too short. Otherwise he’s modestly active, but I’m certain a bit sore.
Thanks again for thinking of him.
Please keep him in your thoughts again tonight, if you would. I’m just hoping he’s not too restless as I really need some sleep that I didn’t get from worrying last night.
Good to hear!
I hope your Spring arrives properly then, in time for next weeks trip in.
I’m taking Jersey in ASAP this week for dental also. You give me confidence reporting Mimzy is sampling hay so soon. She was similar after her last one so I’m hoping for the same result.
So glad to hear both your babies made out well. I hope Mimzy is feeling well today. Poor little bub, with a cataract to deal with. Him and Bindi….geez.
And (((((upcoming dental vibes)))))) for Jenna.
What is an emotional service dog?
Hope you were able to get some rest. I hear ya with not being able to sleep when you are worried about your babies. I expect I will completely conk out when I hit the pillow tonight.
Oh no…I don’t remember you saying that Bindi had a cataract? Are they seriously not related?? 0_0
An emotional service dog is like any other service dog, they go everywhere with you, except that they are there for your mental health and support. She’ll not need to be trained because she has a natural ability to calm and sense when I am in trouble with anxiety/depression, etc. It’s me who has to get the certification that I need her with me, which I’m looking into.
I think bunnytowne had her bunny, Cotton, officially registered as her emotional support animal. That was one of the reasons he was allowed into her building.
I think Mimz is having some residual pain in his mouth today. His vet has agreed that he can now take .35 mls twice a day until his mouth is feeling better.
He just doesn’t show much interest in his hay. It’s very discouraging. Of course, by now he should be having fresh green hayseed and dandelions and I think he knows this.
It’s so frustrating when I walk the dogs late at night (about 12-1 am) and can see the glimmer of the coming dawn (since we have over 17 hours daylight now) peeking over the nearby hills, and with it the buds should be blooming, the birds chirping and the trees whispering to one another as the breezes go through their leaves…but it’s the most silent May I have ever experienced here. The snow is still on the ground and nothing is growing as it should be. >_<
Sorry to confuse you, I meant “Him and Bindi” as in they just have so many problems. Bindi doesn’t have cataracts ****Knocking on wood*****
That’s neat about emotional service dog. Never heard of that before. Wonder if I can do that with Winnie. She’s my biggest stress reliever. Wonder if I could take her to the mall and on the bus.

Wish I could send you some of our Spring. We are having an above average May. Felt like summer all weekend. ((((Sunshine and Snow Melting Vibes!!!))))
A friend of mine was telling me about a program called Mind Dogs. She is hoping to train her puppy to be one. She briefly told me it started with many soldiers getting dogs for PTSD and how much it was helping. It was featured on Oprah apparently.
