I’m currently out of the country for emergency family reasons and we have my sister (she’s 25) and parents watching my rabbit; they’ve done it before and have spent tons of time with her so they do know how to take care of her.
Just before my husband and I left, Petco stopped selling my rabbit’s favorite pellet brand and we switched to the Oxbow brand. My rabbit was barely eating the pellets once we switched, but eating plenty more hay instead. She was also eating her daily dinner of greens from our garden and drinking a usual amount.
According to my sister, the past few days she’s been gobbling her hay. Last night, she ate all of her hay (a fresh big batch was just put in the day before) and she ate all of her pellets that she hadn’t been eating.
Is everything okay with her or should I have my sister take her to the vet?
We’ve had her for over a year so I know that sometimes they eat more than other times but since I’m not there, I can’t really see for myself. Does it just sound like she’s finally accepted her Oxbow pellets and was maybe just a super hungry bunny last night? In the past when she had her favorite pellets, she’d sometimes stock up on them and binge after a week
She’s been acting normal (I’ve been skyping her) and as far as I know she’s not having any bathroom issues; I’m going to double check with my sister on that but she would’ve mentioned something had there been an issue.
But since I’m not there and I’m a worried bunny mommy, I need to hear from other bunny parents.
