  So i have two buns, one female and one male, both altered. my female, pepper, is the oldest at about one year now. my male, deisel, is about seven months. I am in the process of bonding them and they have had their fights, and still do. but earlier pepper and deisel got into it and it was very short and seemed like it was over but when pepper started hopping away deisel went after her (he had a hard time since we were in the kitchen on the linoleum) and i pushed him to the side and said NO and when i did that he came after me! he chased me around the kitchen for a minute and i hopped up onto my counter and waited, and once i got down he bit the leg of my sweatpants and i panicked and he ended up flying a few feet :/ i grabbed a blanket and threw it over him and nustled him in a tight little bundle for a few minutes, then put him in his cage. what i wanna know is, how can i stop him from coming after me like that? because he seems to want to keep fighting after my girl nips and tries to hop away. what can i do? is this normal?

  Make sure you wear some heavy duty gloves to avoid nips on your hands. That way you will be less likely to be jumpy

  I don’t think running away is a good idea. Your bun is going to think he can get his way or get a reaction out of you by charging and biting.

  When he charges squeal, if that doesn’t stop him, say “no” firmly and THUMP with your foot. I wasn’t worried about my girl when she did that so I just pushed her head gently away and told her no, she doesn’t do it anymore cause she knows she isn’t supposed to. She’ll still sneak up behind me and nip my back / butt though if she thinks she can get away with it and I won’t notice til after she is done (mainly because she hates me messing with her stuff). You can’t let him think he can get you to back off or leave the area he wants cause he charges you. Thick clothes prevent the worst of the bites.

  It sounds like his behavior isn’t so much aggression toward you specifically, but a response to a stressful situation. I second Bwbedard’s suggestion to find some heavy gloves to prevent the situation from happening in the future, and so that you can stay calm and control him if something like this happens again. If you’re having trouble bonding your bunnies, I encourage you to head over to the bonding portion of the forum if you haven’t already .

  okay so he was neutered about a month ago. thanks for all the replies guys! peppypoo, I agree about the stressful response rather than aggression. he has bitten me very bad a few other times while cleaning his cage. he is mostly sweet, I’m just still trying to build a relationship with him. where we can trust each other. and I do have a question in the bonding forum already! again, thanks guys!
