  My apologies, I realize that if I search the forum I would probably find all sorts of ideas but I’m afraid I’m in a bit of a time crunch so I’m hoping someone will be so kind as to give me a couple of ideas please! My three story condo is all constructed except for the door latches, … had something which I had my doubts about and unfortunately they were well founded. I have clips like you find at the end of a standard dog leash and they aren’t working. So please tell me what have you used? Thanks so much!

  I used a metal spring with a clip on the end to latch.
  
  You know how some water bottles have like a spring with two clips on each end to attach the bottle to the cage? Well it’s something similar to that.

  Sorry New Bunny but no I don’t know what you mean. I don’t like water bottles but the two I had did not use any kind of spring mount. I really need a solution to this problem ASAP, … like this morning at latest so I’d be greatful for any suggestions. Other NIC condo builders/users must have something that works to keep their doors closed? Please I’d really be greatful for any and all suggestions!

  Binder clips? Pretty much anything that can be easily opened and closed but not too big.
  
  Dog leash clips usually work. What is the problem you’re having with them?

  I use a clip that you would find a dog leash to clip it the collar walmart sales them 2 in a pack for probably under $2.00

  Some people use spring clamps you get at the hardware store.

  I just use a clothes pin for mine. My bun doesn’t chew on it or anything since it’s on the outside of her cage.

  I use a tiny bike lock and keep the key in the bottom always. It works very well for us.

  I use binder clips. They work well and they are easy to open.

  A belated thank you for all the excellent suggestions I received to my frantic question. (And my apologies for not responding sooner!, with a snow storm delaying my collecting my new furry family members and last minute essential condo revisions things went a little nuts around when I posted my question!)
  
  A little confession here, no idea what a binder clip is, and must admit the two people I asked didn’t know either. (Which made me feel a little less dim.)
  
  I thought of a clothes pin but was scared it wouldn’t close tightly enough (I may not have the right kind) and that it could be pushed off. Had a dog years ago who could do that with his crate door (that and a lot else, he was very bright and small so I don’t judge by size) made me uneasy about trying that. Why a small lock didn’t occur to me I’ll never know why not, terrific idea and wish I’d seen it sooner. Beka, your message about the leash clips did send me back to check again and at least clued me in as to what the problem was, short version is the ones I had were way too small. I got a larger variation in the end (in a mad rush actually) and they are working well.
  
  I’ve come to the conclusion that an NIC condo is one of those awful things you only really know how you should have built once you’ve made one. However, its working quite well, and fortunately I haven’t installed two critics, so far as I can tell I’m pretty much getting rave reviews now that I made a couple of adjustments based on observing them in it.

  This is a binder clip. Perhaps you know them by a different name.
  
  I know what you mean about building NIC condos. It can get tedious.
  I remember BB member advising: build the condo in the room where you intend to have it. She’d learnt this from experience when they’d build one then discovered they couldn’t fit it through the doorway to where they were going to use it. Lol!

  Good lord, seems I have yet something to be greatful for, … had to build it where it was going, I’d have lost it if I’d tied all those ties and then not been able to get it in the room! My wonderful challenge was making it a size that will still let the hide- a- bed open when necessary, and that was a big enough pain. It isn’t perfect (by a long way) and I think I’m going to develop a really passionate dislike for the bottom level, but watching them as they happily bounce around from top to bottom in it always makes me feel much better.
