Its been a while since I’ve posted here… Much has changed. A little over a month ago I lost my sweet Royal. He passed away one afternoon with Elvira right by his side. We believe he either had a seizure or a heart attack, because he never showed any signs of being sick.
As devastated as we were, we knew we had to find Elvira, my lion head, a new partner. A week later we went to the HRS to find her a new friend. She got along well with a sweet REW bun who we adopted and named Cadbury. So we have had Cadbury and Elvira for a month now… They have STILL not bonded and the bonding process is crawling. They still dont like each other much — neither one wants to be the submissive bun!!!
So a couple days ago our HRS took in 30+ rabbits from a very sad, horrible hoarding situation. They immediately needed fosters for some of their healthy shelter buns so that they could have more space for the sick buns. My husband and I decided to foster one to help them out. We brought home a timid sweet little Rex named Sterling.
Here is where the bonding comes in. Since Cadbury and Elvira havent bonded and we ultimately wanted to have a trio, we are trying to bond the three. Of course if we bond them we will not be giving Sterling away, so dont worry about that. I wouldnt bond them only to break their bond. As of now, I essentially have three buns, none of which have bonded with each other. HOW DO I DO THIS?! Right now they are all in separate x-pens in the same room.
Elvira is being a butt to both of the boys (as usual.. so much sass!), Cadbury seems curious about Sterling, and Sterling seems to not be very interested in Cadbury. Any help or advice would be SOOOO appreciated!!
