› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Question of the day!!! :)
Hey guys!! I just want to get to know you and your bunnies more so….. I’m going to start doing a question of the day!! ( note: please don’t be a hater,I’m new here!!!) My question is: if your bunny turned out to be the opposite gender, what would you name it?(Ex: my female bunny’s name is Bun qui qui, but if she was a boy, I would name him spunk.) include a pic please, I want to see if the name fits
If you respond to this, my fortune-telling Bun qui qui will ensure you to catch a binky on camera. Or whatever else you strive to do in life.
This actually happens A LOT! So many people get buns that are mis-sexed. The vet catches it tho (usually!) during the first vet appointment!
It’s hard for me to really answer this because there was never any doubt what sex my buns were. Some people who end up with a bun of the opposite sex than what originally thought choose to keep the name and just have it as a funny story.
Haha,…… “(Usually!)”
Btw, your bunnies are absolutely adorable!!!
I would rename Beka’s bunnies Meadowlark Lemon, and Maxine.
My Sammy would be…..Sammy of course! (Real name is Samantha Bunnykins.)
Thanks Bunbun! They are my little furry rugrats!
Meadow didn’t have a name when we got her, so she was named after the character on The Soprano’s which had just ended its run shortly before we got her.
Max’s name was Mugwug, which I honestly just did not like… so we changed it to Max. He’s called Maxie more often tho.
I got Sally’s name from Jack and Sally off the nightmare before Christmas. But Jack wasn’t healthy so now it’s just Sally. I have no idea what I would name her if she were really a boy lol Probably just keep her name haha!
Harley, well I just kept it simple. I named him Harley because he is a harlequin rabbit
Mugwug?! How on earth did you even come up with that?
Mugwug?!?!? Woah… tha people who named that rabbit…. Wow.
Hmm, I suppose I never thought about it. My husband had Leopold’s name picked out before we got the bun to go with. We specifically had to get a boy bunny. So I never really had a girl name picked out. Wooly sort of came with his name, well Mr. Wooly that is. We just kept it, although my husband does try to call him Sweaters.
This is interesting, I never really thought up my own girl bun names before. I guess I will have to think about it. LOL
I know. Mugwug was just really bizarre. I guess you could call him Muggie… But it just didn’t fit in my mind. I prefer people names for my pets anyways.
What the heck is a mugwug anyway? I googled it and got a Jackamo card for a character called “Mug-Wug”. It is a smiling cat with bat wings.
???
MUGWUG??!?! LMAOOOO. Poor Max!
Ookay…. well, my first three buns are all named after Pittsburgh Penguin hockey players and they are all pretty much identical (all from the same litter with the same features and everything) so we probably would’ve just rearranged their names. Fleury is the black boy, Sidney is the black girl, and Tanger is the chocolate boy. Here’s a picture of those three:
Fleury, Tanger, Sidney (left to right)
Our fourth bunny is Simba. He was already named when we adopted him as he is/was three (he’s a newer bunny). If he were a girl, I imagine his name would have to be something like Nala. Because he’s a total Lion bun. And he growls a lot which makes the whole Lion look even better.
And our last one is a girl (we think?) LOL. She is currently our foster who we rescued and plan on adopting once she is spayed and begins the bonding process to the others. Her name is Nora. And I have NOOO idea what we would name her if she were a boy. Which is scary. Because it could still happen! She was sexed about a month ago and will be sexed again this coming Thursday at her next vet appointment – so everyone keep your fingers crossed she IS still a SHE! Her name we basically came up with from the show True Blood. It’s a name of one of the characters and I really liked the name (not so much the character) but thought it was just perfect for her.

Tan lover, that simba of yours is so lionish that I probably couldn’t tell if it was a bunny at first glance!!! But all of your bunnies are high up on the bun-napping list!!! Lol they are absolute cute.
My bunnies are in my signature line
Dexter was named by the rescue we adopted him from. He was named after the main character in the HBO show by the same name. He’s a quiet sort of bun that likes to creepily stare at people and stalk them around instead of being doted on.
There was never any concern that he was a she but if for some reason he switched genders magically I would probably rename him Morgan (The Dexter character’s last name).
Penny was also named by the rescue and we briefly thought about renaming her something to match Dexter’s name but Penny suits her fine.
Again, no concerns about the wrong gender but if I had to think of a boy name for her I would say…. Peso.
And then there’s Monty. Monty was abandoned at my last place of work, an industrial mill. We ended up catching him with a bunch of the guys from the maintenance department. He sort of captured the imaginations of the mill and people were calling him the “Monty Python Rabbit” and so I decided to name him Monty. If he was ladyfied and needed a new name I think I would call him Calla as in Calla Lily.
I had a fourth bun that passed away a little bit ago. She was actually named Ben because she was mistakenly sexed. After we found out we just decided to keep the name and let her live out her life as a “Girl Named Ben”. My husband and I did often refer to her as Bonita which means “pretty/nice” in Spanish.
Is that your bunny in your user pic?
Foo would probably still be Foo. She wad named as she is because she when we were trying to lure her out from under our deck the day we found her, Ryan started singing the little bunny Foo Foo song and it just sorta stuck after we decided we were keeping her.
Ill have to get a picture later. I dont think I can upload them from my phone.
We were hoping baby Boo was a girl – in which case, we were considering Delilah or Jezebel (bad girls of the Bible – LOL)
Mine all have… gender neutral names. So they would work either way ![]()
My two current buns are both females, and were spayed way before I adopted them, so there was no doubt there, but if for some reason they weren’t females, Nala (Lion head in the first picture.) would probably have been Mufasa, and Duchess (The black one with the white nose in the second picture.) Would of been Scar or Kovu. (When I adopted them, it was about a month after my previous rabbit passed, So I’ll get to the Lion King thing in a moment, and to why Duchess isn’t a Lion King name. Also I’m just putting the photos at the end, it’s easier.) And my previous rabbit, Simba, (last photo.) He was the one we had a gender doubt on, it kinda went back and forth, because he passed before we got him neutered, but we first thought he was a girl, so that resulted in his name being “Honey Bun.” (Or my Honey Bunny, I was the only one who was allowed to call him that.) But then we thought he was a boy, and by that time, he was such a big thing in my life, and I thought “He’s brave, and feisty, so Simba fits!”. But on to why Duchess isn’t LK related, I would have named her it, but I just couldn’t think of another female character from the movie, and she was unplanned, I didn’t know Nala (Lacey at the time.) had a bonded partner, and the shelter told us when I went to visit her the first time, and said it wouldn’t matter if they were split up, but I felt so bad, because I read they can be depressed if they lose their bonded partners, and that’s how we got “Lilly” (Now Duchess.) (Edit) By the way, Duchesses full name is “Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna” From my second favorite movie, Anastasia, also, I took great interest in the actual story behind that, and Duchess was a bit stuck up when we got her, she still is, and all I think of when I hear something related to like royalty is spoiled-ness. ![]()
But yeah, picture time. ![]()

(Nala)

(Duchess)

(And Simba, the little man who started all this bun madness.
)
Cute!! Oh, and move diagonally, I don’t have my bunny yet but when we were looking for bunnies, that one is the one I’m going to get (so I took a pic!
) the man said they weren’t old enough quite yet, so I will be off to get my bunnies in a few weeks.
I love all those lion heads and The Lion King theme names… so so cute! I never see them in real life, just on BB ![]()
Funny that this question was asked because last week, the boyfriend had Nugget on her back and he was poking around her genitals and found a tiny (what looked like) penis inside her hole. We’ve sexed her before, but have heard that things don’t develop until they’re older. Well I immediately searched online for a comparison pic of a male and female bunny (felt like a perve) and Nugget is still a girl
. She also has no balls, which is pretty important. But if she was actually a boy, the name would be Nugget Sir Poops-a-Lot.

Oh my goodness BunnyDaddy! YES! Someone else who loves Anastasia! I obsessed over that movie as a kid! My mom bought me the movie music box replica as a kid and I loveeee it!
The bf had full control over Skipper’s name. We were at first told she was a boy. I didn’t believe the pet shop people. I just knew that she was a girl. So while everyone was calling her a “him” I had always referred to Skips as a her. As for Ian and Hugo. We kept their names that the rescue had given them. They honestly just seemed to fit them. I’m huge on nicknames anyways so I use a large variety of names. I couldn’t imagine my little boys as girls because they just have that “boy” personality. So I couldn’t think of girl names for them.
Twitch is named after the female character in the Bunny Picnic (Jim Henson, if you’ve not heard of it) – so her boy name would be Lugsy (because of her huge ears!) or Bean (because of her colour/nature). If you’re familiar with the muppets Christmas carol, Bean is the bun that fetches the giant turkey at the end!
My favourite film as a child, so I suppose keeping bunny is a natural follow up!
Skipper’s Mama, yeah it was my favorite movie also, I kinda gravitated towards movies with lots of singing in them. I still have the VHS tape AND the DVD sitting somewhere in my bedroom. ![]()
Skipper’s Mama and Bunny Daddy- I loved Anastasia too as a kid. Once upon a December still gives me this haunting feeling when I hear it, but it’s such a beautiful song. I also have the biggest crush on Dimitri (aka John Cusack) to this day. Oy vey.

Oh QueenTwitch, thank you!!!! I had no idea this existed even though I have searched “Muppets and Bunny” before. Wrong terms I see. I knew of Bean but thought he was the one and only rabbit character. I just watched the opening scene of The Bunny Picnic on YouTube with the biggest grin on my face.
