  Dobby makes small clicking noises when he walks at a medium pace. I don’t hear it when he is moving slowly or when he’s running around like crazy. It’s not his nails on the floor, because I can hear it when he is on the carpet. I’ve also clipped most of his nails at this point and didn’t notice anything that looked like it would cause the noise. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all.
  
  I’m wondering if it’s a joint or something. I know my knees sounds awful when I do certain things but they don’t bother me.
  
  Also, as background, I’ve had him for about 2 months and he has always done this. He’s been to the vet during this time and was deemed very healthy. Unfortunately, that was before he was really comfortable wandering around his new home so I hadn’t noticed the clicking and didn’t mention it to the vet.
  
  Has anyone had a rabbit with something similar? Do you think it is something that I should be concerned about?

  Hmmm…. I was thinking that maybe if he was an older bun then it might be an arthritis issue. I know you said you said he was fine when you took him to the vet. But maybe you can try filming the noise while your bun is walking. That may help pinpointing the issue. The video may also be something that you would want to show your vet. I haven’t heard of this happening before but maybe other members on here have. Again, it’s always good to get a vet’s opinion. =]

  The first time I heard my rabbit make a noise while hopping, I thought it was her bones creaking. Like she needed to be oiled. Lol
  Turned out it was the little hum noise they make. Sometimes hormonal, sometimes just a contented noise.
  
  That noise is more a “Hm Hm Hm” then a click. Perhaps your rabbit it clicking his teeth while hopping?

  I don’t think it’s his teeth. It sounds like it’s coming from his back legs. Unfortunately, I can’t capture it on film. It’s a pretty quite noise and my camera isn’t that great with sound.
  
  I’ll call the vet’s office soon to see if it’s something that I should be concerned with.

  Sounds like something older horses get when they are arthritic in their back legs. Not sure if that happens to rabbits but 3 would be very young for that anyways.

  I talked to the vet today and thought I’d share, in case anyone runs into a similar problem. He said he has seen a similar clicking in a few rabbits and in dogs and cats. It sounds like the same noises we can get in our joints, that don’t really hurt. He said as long as he doesn’t seem in pain and is still running/jumping/binkying like he used to I shouldn’t worry. If any of those things change, then I should bring him in to see about anti-inflammatories and pain management.

  Have you found a reason for this noise or have any updates? My bunny Pippins makes the same noise when she hops at a medium-fast pace. I also assumed it was maybe her nails clicking together as I just got her and she’s young, so maybe she hadn’t had her nails trimmed. But I trimmed them all last night and she still makes this noise. She doesn’t seem in pain and can hop around just fine, so maybe it really is just her nails clicking together, its very odd.
