Hello,
I have had bunnies for over 20 yrs. The last 9 yrs. we have had Dixie & Trixie, 2 sisters from the same nest. Unfortunately last November Trixie died. So we found through a bunnyshelter another bunny Pluto, 1,5 yrs old. They bonded right away. They could sleep in the same cage the first night. It’s now almost 4 months that they are together. Dixie is 9 and Pluto will be 2 in a couple of months.I’ve noticed in the last couple of days that Pluto bites the nails of Dixie…… He puts his head under her body and starts to lick her paws. Hoping that she will lick him I think. But the last days he really bites her nails…..and I checked her closely yesterday and I could see that he bites for real.I’m very concerned…….I tell him everytime NO BITING DIXIE and I try to push him away. I feel bad for Dixie. I can see that she pulls her foot away and sometimes she moves to another spot. When I’m home they are always out of the cage and are free to run around. So they have enough space and plenty of toys.
Any advice what to do? Is this maybe just a period that he is going through. Should I put him in the cage for a time out for a couple of minutes ?
Pluto has always been a bit skittish. Dixie we have had from she was 6 wks old. She is very calm and she has taught Pluto what to do and he is always looking for her. But I just don’t want him to bite/nibble her nails.
Thanks so much for any help and advice you give me !
