Bunny urine can range in color from very light yellow to orange to red, sometimes even brown. This is not generally anything to worry about. If there is blood in the urine, the red will be “swirled” in lighter colored urine.

What exactly is “peeing so much”? More than normal for your bunny? How long has there been increased urination? Does she seem to be in pain? Is she drinking more than usual?

Other question is how old is she and is she spayed?

Are you sure that your bunny is only a month old? At that age, she should still be getting milk from her mother, and just starting to get a few nibbles of hay and pellets. I think it would be a good idea to take her in to the vet for a checkup. You want to make sure that she gets a good start in life, and that she is as healthy as possible.

Has she been eating dandelion greens? That would color the urine orange/red plus its a diuretic (diuretics: substances that make a person/animal pee more). So that would explain it and it would be perfectly normal.

Deliaah, does your bunny have hay? Nice timothy hay, meadow grass is the most important thing a rabbit eats! Since your bunny is under a year, she could also have alfalfa hay. Another thing is pellets- Oxbow and Sweet Meadow are good brands. They make timothy or alfalfa based pellets- again, since your bunny is under a year, alfalfa would be best, since it gives growing bunnies extra calories. You can get both hay and pellets at pet stores and online- just make sure a pet store sells rabbit supplies if you’re not sure. Lots of small stores only have dog/cat stuff.

There is so much misconception about what rabbits should eat- I always thought carrots were great for rabbits because of popular belief, but carrots, apples and bananas are actually too high in sugar to be fed in large quantities for bunnies. They can be a treat, just a little piece- think about the size of a pair of dice- but not until your rabbit is older. Your rabbit is really young, although sometimes breeders or people that sell rabbits aren’t accurate about their ages. Because she’s young, you need to be careful with greens too. I’m not sure what type of lettuce you’ve been feeding her, but iceberg, the type that most people eat, isn’t the best kind for bunnies. Green leaf or red leaf lettuce is good- it has more nutrition and less water- sometimes iceberg lettuce gives bunnies diarrhea, which is very dangerous in baby rabbits. There’s a lot of info here about good greens for rabbits, but that’s for later in your rabbit’s life. Right now I would stick to hay and pellets, until she’s about 4-6 months.

As other members have suggested, it’s definitely a good idea to take your bunny to the vet for a good checkup. There is a list on this site of bunny vets, since many cat/dog vets know nothing about rabbits!
