I’m vaguely remembering coming across a petition to ban these antiquated practices in Ireland. I’ll see if I can find it again.

This is cruel for BOTH the greyhound dogs and the rabbits. This journalist is seriously out of touch with what people think about this cruel practice too.

Very, very sad. Whether they kill the rabbit or not, those poor animals are terrified and at risk for having a heart attack.

Obviously a very uncompassionate and gullible reporter.

What…? Getting their exercise? So MANY greyhounds DIE from the racing every year, many more break bones and have permanent health issues. It’s worse than horse racing. Ugh. And using a live hare as bait? That is just cruel. :s

I’ve chosen not to read the article because I have been seeing too much sad stuff lately but I feel bad for the greyhounds and the bunnies used. I don’t know where this takes place but it’s not right and I have a real soft spot for greyhounds. They are so gentle and loving, I do not understand why people would want to make them race or chase rabbits with a muzzle on. I’ve always wanted a rescued greyhound…Just can’t adopt one now because the dog I have doesn’t like big dogs. (even though she’s big herself…)

So sad. Poor animals.

Amy I totally second you. I know it keeps me ignorant of the happenings of the world. But I try to not read the newspaper too often. There is just too much violence and hate that is blown up by reporters and salivated over by the masses.
