callie has and has always had excellent litter habits. i got her when she was four months old and she’s now ten months old. she’s spayed. she lives in an xpen and has free roam of my bedroom when i’m there.
over the past month or so she’s started pooping on my bed. i figured she was marking it, no big deal, i could throw the poop into her litter box. well now this past week she’s taken to peeing on my bed. not cool.
backstory: my previous bunny cosie fractured her ankle, most likely from jumping on/off my bed, so i had a friend’s husband build a custom ramp that hooks around my mattress to prevent further injury, and it was a huge help when she got old and arthritic.
back to callie. i didn’t want callie to possibly suffer the same injury, so i had the ramp up about a month after she was settled in.
now, as far as the peeing…i know the best solution is to keep her off the bed and take the ramp down. however, she does know she can jump on and off the bed without the ramp, so i feel like by taking the ramp down she’s just going to jump more. i pick her up and put her back on the floor when she comes on my bed, but she is undeterred. as a last ditch effort i’ve put on old sheet folded in fourths on the part of my bed where she pees so i don’t have to keep changing my sheets.
any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. callie’s a feisty one!!
