  We remodeled Tesla’s home a little bit last night, after doing more reading here on the forums and everything, I’m hoping the new look is something he will enjoy more.

  He seems to like his new cage set up more, there are less accidents and I converted an old shoe box into a nice little hidey-hole for him that he can go into when he needs to escape to relax.
  
  My question is, He is currently set up in the living room, since we are only in a two bedroom apartment, and I need to vacuum the living room, but don’t want to scare him, over-all Tesla is a very curious and not super easily scared baby bunny, he will chase my youngest son around the living room (by chase I mean my youngest will notice Tesla coming close for a sniff and squeal and toddle away, while Tesla hops after him), and doesn’t seem to be startled often by loud noises, but still, I want to be able to clean around his cage, as well as his cage with the least amount of trauma from vacuums (I have yet to meet an animal that likes vacuums).
  
  Any suggestions?

  When I vacuum, my buns scamper off into their hidey house and “wait out the storm”. Well, Meadow does at least. Max will come up and nose bump the (running) vacuum, before deciding to hop away. Some buns are more bothered by the vacuum than others.
  
  Now is a good time to get him used to normal household noises. I wouldn’t fully remove him from the area or anything like that. Maybe start by vacuuming on the other side of the room and gradually approach the cage area. Do you let Tesla run around while you’re cleaning the cage? Maybe have a hidey house outside the cage?

  During cage cleaning time, I wait until he leaves his cage to go explore then I clean up his cage, just so he doesn’t feel like he’s being invaded. So far he’s been a very curious little bunny, he’s used to the boys noises and random crying that goes along with having 3 boys. Strangely enough him and my youngest have seemed to bond some, my youngest will sit outside his cage and just watch, and Tesla will come up and stick his nose through the bars and sniff at him or just sit back and stare, it’s adorable.
  
  I will make sure when I vacuum to put another hiding box out for him to get into.

  Neither of my buns seem to care when I vaccuum. If i am vaccuuming there cages I remove them into a seperate room but if I am just vaccuuming the room they are fine. I actually started off using a little hand held dirt devil for awhile so they got use to the noise.

  I shop vac around the bunnies all the time. I started out putting them in a carrier in another room while I vacuumed so they could see and hear it from a distance. then I moved them closer for a while. now they don’t mind at all and are loose running around the vacuum. they got used to it pretty quick!!
