  My bunny, almost 4 year old Holland Lop, has recently started making a weezing sound. I got on there when I heard it the first time and saw that older bunnies can start to snore and figured that what it was and left it alone (he is a little chunky) However, when I fed him this morning he was making a grunting/ rough breathing kinda nose ( almost like a Pug or a Bulldog makes)
  
  Now he has been known to grunt when he is upset so I know what that sounds like, this is not the same. I have checked in over and he isnt sneezing or abnormally wet around his chin and face.
  
  He did have a bawl issue a few months ago and spend 4 days at the vet (it was aweful) and since then he has been ok. I did notice that his hind end is starting to get a bit yucky again.
  
  I guess what Im asking is, has this happened to anyone else? Do I need to take him into the Vet just to have him checked out? or is he just starting to show his age and I’m being a paranoid mama.

  It could be a dental problem as Holland Lops are notorious for having dental issues – has the vet checked his teeth lately? Dental problems can also cause “poopy butt” as well.

  I would bring him to the vet. 4 is not old so it’s not age related. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

  Did not know teeth could cause that. I’m calling tomorrow, they did say when he was there for 4 days that we did need to think about having his teeth done, that they weren’t horrible but they were betting a bit long.
  
  Thanks y’all its great to have people that love their bunnies like we love ours. Who we lovingly refer to as stinky bunny butt (see bawl problems comment) and him bunny-ness

  If he’s a bit overweight that can contribute to the messy bottom also. Along with teeth problems. If its harder for him to reach down to eat his cecal droppings, he might not get them enough then get a gut imbalance.
  
  It also might be why he’s breathing noisily (and also his holland head shape).
  
  Either way, it sounds like a diet will help.
