today my sister got a new rabbit, benji, he is about one years old mini lop and we got him from my friend who found his old owner on Facebook who said that because she had health issues she had to rehouse a male and a female. we renamed him from winston to benji, but the problem we had was the previous owner said that he hadn’t been to the vets once and he didnt need to, which we are changing first thing tomorrow, that he was toilet trained and that she cleaned him just before my friend picked him up, well his whole cage needs chucking and it looked like he lived in one big toilet area she used hay for food bedding and the toilet and all he got was halve a bowl of what i think should have been pellets and some hay and he smelt like he was sprayed with perfume so tomorrow he is having his first bath with us  we tried putting him with mischief on the floor and they didnt want to know each other until benji decided to mount mischief which ended up with benji loosing loose fur and mischief running to me then under the hutch with me having a heart attack. so fingers cross we can get these two to live with each other soon as dad is building a new hutch in the shed and then they are moving in

i would put a picture up but ipad is playing up sorry

          Hi LozzKate,
Congrats on your new bunny and good on you for taking him in… But please don’t bath him. It’s nit good fopr bunnies. Maybe just do a but bath if really necessary and a gentle wipe over with a damp cloth to remove the fragrance. A dry cornstarch bath is good for a dirty bottom. You rub in the cornstarch let it dry and then brush it out and most of the dirt will come with it.

we don’t give him a full bath we just fill the bath with little water so they can run in and out of the water, plus i was told by our vet that bathing them was ok as she bathed thumper the Friday before he was put to sleep. I’ve found out that benji loves being hugged and when i go to his cage but dont let him out, because no one will be in, he runs around the hutch and thumps until you give him attention, he now knows to run from my sister which i find funny because all she wants to do is hug him so she is running around the room saying i cant hug you unless I pick you up. poor mischief just sits there looking at us as in to say can i have a hug
