  ive had to bring mischief back inside because he was freezing, luckily dad was the one that said we can bring him in and maybe bring the hutch back in as he he kept saying he was never allowing the rabbits in the house, got him wrapped around our little finger as he would put it, anyway his old hutch is water damaged and is being thrown out as we are making the shed into his new home,but dad hasnt got round to starting it yet so he put mischief in the “holiday” hutch and put the hutch in the shed. what i would like to know is what is the best way to keep him warm as it is snowing, the shed is freezing, he lost his brother which made him depressed and wouldnt eat so he lost weight and what wouldnt cost alot as i dont have alot of money to buy new things for him at the moment.
  
  also my dad is letting him in the house more now than i thought he would, he keeps telling us that he didnt want a rabbit in the first place but he wont let them freeze or have any harm come to them, which i love him for, what i dont get was that last year they were both fine in the winter even with the snow, i know they had each other to keep warm but they were still slightly cooler but now even with alot more bedding and a warmer place than outside, being indoors as well, mischief still gets cold. i just need something else that will keep the chill off him.

  I really have to urge you to beg your dad to let him in the house during the cold winter. It will cost in vet bills in the long run if he is cold and ill, and that is most likely. Can you put him into a basement, or your bedroom, or even a closet that is cleared out on the bottom and left open to hold the cage? You really must bring him in out of temperatures that reach below 50. It is a matter of life and death – shelter doesn’t do it completely because wild bunnies burrow deep into the warm ground and a bunny in a hutch doesn’t have that option. They are not bred to withstand extremes of heat or cold, so please, please ask your father to allow your bunny a place in the heated house.

  If he must stay outside there are heat lamps or pads that can be bought fairy inexspensive at feed stores. Add a lot of straw into his hutch, enough for him to burrow into. Check it often and change any damp straw. Increase his diet as rabbits housed outdoors eat more in colder months to maintain more fat. Offer him blankets or insulate hutch however you can, even cover hutch with blanket. Keep away from all drafts. Most rabbits kept outdoors will have a winter coat. If he doesnt have a winter coat or his feed wasnt increased for him to gain winter fat he will not stay warm enough.

  I think my advice, not on living arrangements for outside is to work on your dad letting your bunny inside more often working on an inside-always plan.
  I would make sure that you always clean up every stray hair, stray poop, stray strand of hay when your bunny comes inside. And then do what all parents want-chores, help clear the table, help with dishes, vacuum, dust, etc. Try showing your dad two things; 1-the bunny does not cause mess in the house because you are so responsible it’s cleaned in seconds, and 2-that you are a responsible young adult, who helps out in the house and who’s behaviour is beyond reproach. I think if your dad has nothing he can say (i.e. There’s poop in the corner, this is why I don’t want a rabbit in here; or you won’t clean up after him because you won’t even do the dishes) then your that much closer to getting your bunny to liver inside. And hey-why don’t you wash his car if your able and then put a little flyer with facts about how clean rabbits are and what a joy it is to have them in the house inside
