  They will not give me a rabbit unless I buy their cage!!! The main rescue lady says the guy I am getting shouldn’t be allowed to have levels (because he is blind in one eye), and that the wire flooring is more sanitary. She says because he is blind in that eye that if his feet are dirty (because apparently without having a wire floor they would be) he will scratch his eye and have to have it removed (which my father is able to do because he has worked on tons of rabbits, and has buddies that specialize in eyes so if it had to be done it would be free).
  
  ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHH!! I don’t understand! I told the woman I was talking to (who is not the boss) that if I bought their cage I would immediately sell it on craigslist, and use the one I am building, but she says the boss isn’t willing to budge.
  
  I don’t feel like it’s fair that I should be forced to spend $85 on a cage just to get a rabbit………especially when I am building a bigger one. I already love the little guy, and want him so bad but I am considering walking away from this because it just makes me so angry, and it’s so ludicrous.
  
  Everything I read says wire is bad for bunny feet, but somehow because mine will be blind in one eye that negates it??

  I think it’s over the top as well – while I don’t always understand rescue’s policies and I’ve worked with many, I’m sure they have their reasons – even if it makes no sense at all and I think the cage they are wanting to sell you is not at all appropriate for a house rabbit. Sometimes rescues know best and sometimes their policies don’t make sense to me either.
  
  Maybe if you sell it on craigslist you can recover some of the costs.
  
  I hope you get him anyway, despite their odd ideas…he deserves a good home like yours.

  This is the only website I’ve found that says wire flooring is alright, so maybe this is what they are going off of.
