  So I am the proud mummy of a ten week old chinchilla mini lop (uk size). He is currently in a 1metre cage but am now thinking this is too small for him.
  Am now planning on building a condo out of NIC cubes: thee cubes high, two deep and three across. I am planning on using wood for the ledges for him to jump on. Only problem is I don’t know what to use on the bottom, I can’t have carpet or tug as he is not litter trained yet.
  
  Any ideas?

  My bunny uses the litter box sometims so in uer cage/pen I put old towels and change them out everyday when I clean her cage/pen

  Try tiles. They are super easy to clean but some rabbits don’t like the slickness of them so put a towel or blanket down so they have a little traction. You could try sticking them to cardboard or a safe sheet of wood. I did the cardboard for my little guy, and it worked well. I made sure that there were not any/many cracks between each tile so if he peed it would seep through. Luckily, he has really awesome litter habits and never peed on it. The only thing that did happen was he tipped over his water dish a couple times. Cardboard is more for a temporary solution. He’s on a dog tray now, which would also work for you. I got mine off of Amazon. I don’t remember the measurements, but its a good size. Actually, it would fit the cage you want to build. I used it for my other 2 bunnies and my cage was 3 wide, 3 high and 2 deep. There was a little extra tray on the sides but it still worked really great. It’s not as easy to clean as tile but I thought it worked well.

  The dog tray is really good. I think it was about 30-40 bucks.

  I use ceramic tile I got from lowes my buns cage is bigger than your buns cage and it cost me less than $5.00 for the whole floor. Then i put straw mats on top of that. Keeps bunny cool in the summer time!

  We were thinking of the corrugated plastic, similar to what is in the bottom of his cage already. When he’s litter trained we will probably add straw matts or something similar

  I use vinyl flooring for my buns. Pretty cheap and wipes clean.

  I use linoleum. Works well for me and I have a condo that is almost 3 years old and it’s still clean with no pee stains!
