  So, Im going to Texas this Friday, and will be gone about 5 days, but I have to keep my rabbit at home… She has free run of my room, except while Im sleeping, then I lock her up in a XL dog kennel, with a second story added. While Im gone I have a family member who will be coming over to take care of her, and my other herd of animals, but my parents will not allow Bon to free run in my room while Im gone. I am feeling really guilty and stressed about leaving my little girl caged up for five days though… Argh. AND, I am also being required by my parents to put down a wire bottom in her cage, as the pet sitter/family member (dealing with family members is no fun) does not want to clean her cage out everyday, and I dont want her sitting in her poo… (She has a litter box but she only urines in it) I really abhore wire bottom cages, I know its not comfortable, and I do NOT want her on it for five days straight…So, what would you do? I cant bring her, and I cant leave her in free run of my room, so locking her up is the only option, and I do NOT want her sitting in her own poop for five days (oh god she poops allot) and I dont want her walking on wire… Any ideas? Im in a muddle
  
  Also! If I do have to leave her with a wire bottom cage, would laying a little bit of hay over it be alright? Maybe a little more comforting than little wires? But would it allow the poo to go to the tray…?

  I would not recommend the wire bottom either!
  
  What does her kennel look like? Pictures would make it easier to come up with ideas.
  
  I wouldn’t care so much about poop if she actually pees in her litterbox though. The poop is completely dry and is not an issue.

  Its not awfully big, but she is rather small, and isnt locked up much

  So if you left a pile of new towels at the cage and a big bag for dispensing the used towels, the bunny sitter would object to remove the towel each day? She wouldn’t have to pick up the poop, but just grab the towel and throw it in the bag.
  
  If I understand it correctly, then your parents want a wire on the bottom just a few centimeters over the floor, so that Bon doesn’t walk directly on the poop, but on the wire? Then all the poop just ends up on the floor?
  
  In all honesty, I think Bon would prefer poop to the wire. Maybe it will even teach her to use the toilet? Not the traditional litter training though

  You should buy a plastic tray that usually goeson the bottom of them http://www.petco.com/product/102333/Petco-Dog-Crate-Replacement-Tray.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch I normally clean my buns cage out once a week. Is your bunny litterbox trained? That makes cleaning easier!

  You’re right that the cage is a bit small for her to be cooped up for five days, and that wire is not a good option for flooring. However, if your parents are adamant about this, you can try to make Bon feel more comfortable by leaving some of the towels on top of the wire floor for padding, or maybe even using a carpet square if you can find one.
