  Hi all,
  
  My bunny Rosie has been having lots of problems with her eyes over the past few months…heres a run down..
  
  3 Months ago she got sore, runny eyes.. so i took her to the vet and he gave me eye drops for conjunctivitis. (£60 later..)
  
  within two weeks it was back again.. this time he gave me drops and oral medication. She hated me for weeks after this but it done the trick.. her fur grew back around her eyes and she was looking lovely again! (£80 later…)
  
  3/4 weeks after medication stopped Ive just now noticed her eyes are runny again, no redness on eyes.. kind of a clear fluid running down to he nose.
  
  She is eating as normal (shes always been a piggy!!) and pooping fine. She is 8 nearly 9 months old.
  
  She was kept inside while she was unwell but has been back outside for a couple of weeks.. could this be causing her a problem?
  
  I was just seeing if anyone has had problems like these before? im in the process of changing vet, as we have found out .. they are charging very high prices for not alot of help/medication.. And it doesnt seem to be working!!
  
  I dont think she has anyproblems with her teeth as she is still eating fine and when he looked last time he couldnt see anything wrong.
  
  Could it be blocked tearducks maybe?

  Yes, if there is no inflammation blocked tear ducts could be a possibility. However, only a vet can run the tests to make sure what is wrong.
  
  In the meanwhile, though, I definitely encourage you to bring your bunny inside permanently. Is there a reason why she stays outside?

  Yes both of our bunnies are outside in hutches. I house share with 4 other people… i share the bunnies with one. I did bring them inside for winter but some people in the house were not happy about it. Plus there isnt alot of room for them to have the space they need and should have. Im not happy about it either but i have to deal with what ive got untill we can find somewhere bigger.

  I agree about the tear duct possibly being affected and blocked. It’s easy for a vet to check for that and a prescribed cream drop will fix it quickly. Spockie had that for life.
  
  I also must strongly urge you to bring bunny into the house full time. If your living situation can be temporary (such as at school with roommates, or sharing a home with others) consider your long term goals and think about making a change that will allow you to have her inside full time as part of the arrangement. I know this may not be possible now, but your bunny will be with you about 10 years, so it may be something to keep in mind if you can’t do it now but will be moving within the next year or more. It is much healthier for your bun, and will save you money in the long run if it is adversely effecting her health.

  Hopefully we shall be moving out on our own within the next year (fingers crossed) in which case they would be living together inside. I love having them inside and bring them in as much as i can. I feel so guilty having them outside – however they were born to parents who lived outside and also lived in a garage (converted into a bunny heaven lol) when they we younger, so they are used to it.

  Are you able to pull apart the hutch after the next vet visit and thoroughly disinfect it? I can’t help but wonder at the fact that she recovers then goes out and gets ill again

  If it’s a bacterial infection, she could certainly be getting reinfected from the hutch if it’s not disinfected. You could try bleach or you can buy virkon at the vet office, virkon disinfects as well or better than bleach and can be used on surfaces that bleach cannot be used on.

  oh i didnt think of that.. she will be at the vets on tuesday being spayed (and also getting eyes checked) so i will do a thorough clean with bunny safe disinfectant while she is away!
  
  I hope that solves it! Its getting very costly every month..but shes worth it
