Yesterday I woke up, and there was a dusting of snow on the ground! I threw on my coat and ran outside to daisy’s hutch. It was Daisy’s first snow! When I got outside I noticed something. All the blankets that were covering her hutch to keep her warm were blown 10 feet away from the hutch.I went over to the cage and my bunny was in the corner and her head tucked back into her fur. I feel so bad because I did not know when they blew off it could of been last night when I was going to bed. But that day It was cold so I covered her up after dinner. Normally I cover her up when I go to bed. So now I have everything pined to her hutch!

Can’t you bring her inside? I thought you were already working on bringing her inside? She really shouldn’t be out in those kind of conditions.

dont feel bad, feel responsible and get the the bunny inside.

if it’s cold enough to snow at night, then its certain cold enough KILL a domesticated rabbit each night you chance leaving her out there.

If your bun MUST stay outside, then could you safely hook up a heat lamp or pad in the cage for some warmth? Also, if the hutch is open to all elements, a well-insulated house is needed. Something large enough to sleep in comfortably, but small enough to keep body warmth in. If you have a barn/shed/garage then move the hutch into there to help keep the wind off.
How cold is it getting at night?
Is the water dish/bottle heated? If you have snow then the water will freeze. The nipple on a water bottle can freeze in a matter of minutes and if you only give water a few times a day then you will quickly have a dehydrated bun.

An outdoor bunny can survive, but it will never thrive. The average lifespan of an outdoor/hutch rabbit is 2-3 years, while an indoor bunny lives around 8-12.

Bring your bunny inside as soon as you can, it’s not fair to your bun to be locked out in the cold when you have a nice warm bed to sleep in…

You can also just bring her hutch inside.

You really can’t afford to leave her outside. She needs to either be brought inside or as Sam said, put in a barn/garage. Your poor bun is probably freezing out there in that cold. Not to mention what Sam also said about the water bottle/bowl.

If you can’t afford to build the house yet (or your parents can’t find the time to take you to get the supplies you need) then you really just need to bring the whole hutch inside right now. Maybe you can work something out with them so you can keep the bun safely in her hutch in your room until you get all the supplies set up and her new indoor home built.

I agree with Tanlover, put something down to protect your floor and bring the hutch in ASAP.
