My gorgeous shih tzu is being put to sleep tomorrow  His spine has a slipped disc which is putting pressure on his spinal cord, causing him agonizing pain. He is not responding to medication, and because of his age (13) and his weak condition, surgery is not an option.

Ive never been so upset in my life. I love him so much. He’s my best friend

Sorry fellow BB’s, I just didn’t know where else to come to

Oh CM, I wish there was someway I could ease your pain. So many little friends have crossed the bridge this week………….. You are doing what you must, you. can’t let him suffer. I hope jis crossing is gentle and know that he will have many friends waiting to guide him across the bridge to Summerland.

he may come back in a dream and tell you thank you for he hurt so much and feels better since he has departed.

He may also give you a look of relief at the moment.   Remember you are doing the right thing.  Sometimes people wish they had this option for themselves

I`m so very sorry. It`s always incredibly hard to do, even if you know it`s the right thing. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. We are all here for you when you need to talk. We love all animals and understand.

I was devastated when I lost my 16 year old Shih-Tzu a few years ago. They are such sweet little dogs. Please take comfort in the fact that he lived a happy, wonderful, long life with someone who loves him.

I’m so sorry! You are doing the right thing, but it’s such a hard thing to do ***Hugs *** He had 13 wonderful years with you and you are giving him a final gift, that he can go peacefully without pain and with dignity. I wanted to share the Rainbow Bridge poem here for your Gizmo.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
