My little Bilbo is being neutured tomorrow I’m so worried though. I’ve never left him ever for a whole day so hope he won’t be too stressed and I got told that rabbits don’t cope as well with anaesthetic as cats and dogs do so I’m really worrying that he won’t even survive the operation

Can people put me at ease that he will come through it and be ok? It must happen to alot of rabbits and they live fine. I think I’m just being an over protective mummy.

Hang in there! i was just as stressed as you this morning and last night! My guy went in to get his manbits enihalated today too. He’s home now. REALLY quiet and subdued but he’s ate a bit and i think he drank a bit too. Had to smack Hippy in the head a couple times with some parsley before he snatched it and stank eyed me. so far he’s had a few pellets,a teeny bit of parsley and some grass (had to dig it out from under snow and warm it a bit but its his favourite!. my poor babes was doing a bit of teeth grinding when i held him so ive just left him alone and havent heard any since.. poor guys NOT amused at the drs orders of staying in his cage for the day

I am sure he will be fine. Neutering is a lot less intrusive than spaying. My Piglet bounced back within two days and was back to his old self in no time.

Aww, he’ll be back to normal before you know it! It’s perfectly normal to be nervous before our buns go for an operation..it just means we love them .

Recovery vibes for Bilbo! I’m sure you’re boy will be perfectly fine and back to normal before you know it. My bun was only angry he had to stay confined for a few days until the incision was partially healed! Besides him being grumpy about that, he was perfectly fine.

Make sure you get some Metacam from your vet to bring home! We gave it to our bun for three days after his neuter and then he refused to take any more of it but he was fine and back to normal so we let him go without it. Just as a precaution so your bun can feel better if he is a little achey down there. Fleury sat funny his first night home but was fine the next day.

Eeek! I know how scary spaying and neutering can be! My lil one was kept at the vet for 2 days to recover, but she came home well.

Neutering is definitely less invasive than spaying is. Do make sure to get pain meds for afterward and he should be well! Make sure that you have his favorite treats available.

I was able to let Piglet out very soon after the neuter. He just wanted to flop in his cat bed and give me the stinkeye…. By the next day his was binkying again.

Let us know how it goes! I’m anxious to hear back about how Mr. Bilbo is recovering!! My little boy came home with a HUGE appetite so leave him a big dish of food and veggies to gobble up!!!!!! He literally ate everything in his house!

                          Hello,

Just to let you know Bilbo had his collar taken off after having to have it on for 3 weeks but he had it taken off a few days before Christmas so I was over the moon then. He was a changed bunny and spoilt for Christmas

I’m glad to hear he got the collar taken off. Those collars are very stressful, but can’t be helped in some situations.
