  I left Rory alone for twenty minutes earlier, and when I came back he had ripped out a huge section from the middle cushion of our sofa and I cannot find the corresponding bit anywhere! I’m really concerned as he has done this before and eaten bits of cardboard boxes. He is eating hay and drinking water normally. Should I be concerned?

  Gosh I don’t know. I’d watch him close for sure.
  If its a common thing maybe keep a blanket or sheet over the couch?

  Keep a close eye on his eating and pooping for the next 24 hours. Bunnies can eat some strange things and be totally fine but better to keep close watch.
  
  My Olivia likes to eat the couch too, but she spits all the little pieces in a neat pile. How nice of her.

  Oh jeez! Where is he ripping it from…does he climb on top or tear at it from underneath?
  
  I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there at some point or another…just make sure his eating, pooping, and activity level are normal for the next day or so. It helps to empty the litter box so that you can keep track of whether or not he has made new poops.

  Thanks for the replies! We usually keep a blanket over the sofa but he tore it off and then went for the cushion!
  
  He is pooping and peeing around triple the amount he normally would – his litter tray was emptied out so I could keep track as suggested and already it is sodden with pee and he is pooping uncontrollably. Is this a good sign?

  Just keep an eye on him but I would not get overly stressed.

  I just came back to find his litter box completely swimming in pee, the carefresh he had down had already absorbed all it could and was just floating in rabbit pee (lovely!). A little bit of me is panicking but I’m hoping it’s because I’m a new at raising buns!

  He’s drank four bowls of water (he’s only 2.3lbs so usually gets through one) and his hay consumption has gone down (he’s eaten a bowlful when usually we would be refilling it constantly!).

  From that thread you posted (it was a godsend, thank you!) there is a possibility it could be his teeth as the vet did mention they were longer than she would have liked and to keep a close eye on him. Could just be a coincidence that he decided to snack on our sofa!
  
  I tried to check his teeth and his tummy but he absolutely won’t have it, he won’t let me lay him down gently or bunny burrito him – I gave up because he seemed so terrified I started crying (I’m a bit of a wimp!) I’ve given him his favourite alfafa treat for now and we seem to have made up so far as he will jump on my lap when called – he’s still shaking like a leaf though.
  
  It’s 2:24am here so I’m going to sleep and check on him in a couple of hours because I’m quite worried (he’s peed five times in the last hour and they are literally puddles of pee!) so I will update again in the morning.
  
  Thanks for listening (even if it turns out I’m worrying about absolutely nothing), it’s nice to be able to turn to people who know a bit more than me!

  An update (our internet went down!): Rory seemed a little off (lots of pee, low hay consumption) until yesterday but is now eating and peeing normally (his water consumption is around a bowl a day, half his bottle at night), so I’m just keeping an eye out for now to make sure he’s really okay. Do you think this is wise?

  It’s good to know that he seems to be doing better. How long ago did the vet say that his teeth were long? One thing about longer incisors or a malocclusion in general is that due to a misalignment, spurs can develop on the back molars (there is no way for you to see this – a vet has to use a scope). I had a bunny had mild incisor issues, but developed spurs and I had to keep an eye on this.
  
  If it’s been over a month since your vet looked at your bunny’s teeth, it might be a good idea to just have them checked again (including the back molars). Growth of the teeth are in spurts. (even though they continue grow).
