Bunnyboy is 1 yr old and I have had him for 7 weeks. He is not neutered. He has been using his litter box consistently since I found him. His cage is set up with a crate/bed in one corner, water bowl in another, litter box in the third corner and his hay in the last corner. The bottom of his cage is plastic, so I line the bottom with beach towel. In the hay corner, I have a hand towel that I put his hay bowl on top of. This way, I can just scoop up the towel with any hay bits and poops and shake it in the trashcan.
For the past week and a half, he has been pushing his bowl out from the corner and peeing there. Once I saw him with his front paws in the bowl, tush in the corner, taking a whiz!
Litter has not changed, diet has not changed, so I thought maybe he was mad at his hay
. I had been giving him Kaytee with sweet potato and shook out as much of the sweet potato as I could. He would dive in his bowl and dig for the few I left in there. I thought maybe he was mad that he couldn’t find anymore so he decided he would pee on the hay. He was still using his litter box at this point. I changed to Oxbow, which he likes, and I cleaned the cage with vinegar and he was fine for half a day and did again. This time I used and enzyme cleaner. He was ok for a day and a half and then did it several times for the next two days and did not use the litterbox, just this corner. This last time, I did the above but also changed the arrangement of what was in each corner, to see if he was smelling the pee and using that corner because of lingering odor.
He was fine for three days, using the litterbox, like a good bunny and all of a sudden, he pushed the bowl out from the corner and peed.
i don’t think this is a neutering issue, since he was fine for so long. He is normal in all other respects, eating, sleeping, playing, etc.
Any insight/advice?
