Sorry, I don’t know if you said this anywhere before, but is your bunny fixed? They need to be spayed/neutered before you can do any bonding.

If you’re wanting a second bun and you want the best chance for a successful bond, then it is best to let your bun pick out a friend. My buns were sort of a gamble since I got them without knowing if they would like each other or not. Everything turned out fine and they love each other. I think it helps Leopold to have a friend, since he can’t hear.

I would build a bond with him first, then let him go bunny dating if you want to get a second. Personally, I got Powder first and once he got his girl he did seem happier but… it’s such a hassle to have them both together. I kinda on one hand wish I had never bonded them, but on the other it’s cute to see them together and they obviously love each other.

The bad:

The litter habits used to be perfect on both and are now spotty, they’ve been bonded over a year and it still hasn’t gone back to perfect, for the first 6 months it was horrible. I can’t let Powder be free roam anymore, so I lost my cuddle bun (he used to sleep in the bed with me), because of the litter habits and the fact his bond mate is a chewer and will eat any base board/carpet she gets to sneak munches on when I am not looking. Powder used to hang out with me all the time, now if Stickers the skittish little girl doesn’t want to be in the presence of humans, he follows her and there are times when it’s days between getting to hang out with my buns because she doesn’t want to be bothered by me and Powder won’t leave her side.

The good :

They are both really in love with each other. Powder grooms Stickers, though she won’t groom him back. They stay together and help each other if there is something stressful. If I get busy they have each other so won’t get lonely. Double zoomies/binkies are adorable. And double craisin attacking monsters is funny – they both climb all over whoever has the craisin bag and try to stuff their heads into it.

So I think for THEM it’s better that they are bonded and have each other. For ME, it’s more work and the loss of a really cool bond with my male. But, their happiness is all that really matters so I can’t say I regret bonding them… but I do miss having just Powder sometimes, he was a fun sleeping partner (when he didn’t kick me in the face with his back legs cause he wanted to stretch out that is haha).
