  I know I’ve been off for quite a while but I could use some Binky Bunny support right now. Without going into detail ( a lot has happened), I saw Abby at my Mom’s house today and I could tell she was not feeling well. She wasn’t eating normally and she was not as active as usual. As the day progressed I saw her getting worse and grinding her teeth. She has an appointment with her vet tomorrow afternoon. So, she came home with me since no one else has the time to take care of her. Tonight I picked her up and had her so I could see her tummy trying to find out why she is not feeling well and not eating. I noticed a white frothy substance coming from where she would urinate. I spread her fur to eat side and noticed what looks like a large abscess or maybe an infection just to the left. I was so upset to see this and so worried I could lose her. I will update after we see the vet tomorrow.

  Oh Well, can’t be helped….. Maybe this will be a wake up call for the rest of the family and one of them will take more time and interest.

  Thanks everyone. I ended up dropping her off this morning so she can be seen in between patients and be under their care while she waits. She was getting dehydrated and at least she can be force fed and get fluids now. She also developed a gel like discharge when she goes potty and had absolutely no strength or energy this morning. Her vet will be there at 10. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

  UPDATE:
  I just got back from the vet with Abby. She’s not doing well. I was told that she’s down to 8.5 lbs and that if I can’t get her to eat and drink on her own soon that I’m going to lose her. The vet said her stomach felt doughy and that her stomach isn’t moving. They gave her 200cc of Sub-Q fluids and force fed her 60 ml of Critical Care while she was there. They had her out to try and get her to hop around to help get her stomach moving but she just laid there. She did not poop at all while she was there.
  She will be getting 20 ml of Critical Care 4 times a day, Metacam once a day and Metoclopramide 3 times a day. I also need to try to get her to hop around a bit to help get things moving again but she doesn’t want to move. She’s very weak. She bobs her head when she tries to move, when I put her down when we got home her legs couldn’t hold her up and she seems to be doing a little army type crawl when she wants to reposition. They said they thought she was tired from fighting the force feeding all day.
  I’m a wreck, at a loss and not sure what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know many of our bunnies have been through this.

  Did they give her pain relief while there also?
  
  Do you know when last time she passed anything?
  
  Try some massage if you haven’t already. Kneading the tummy if she doesn’t resist. I also found big long strokes down each side was appreciated. Keeping all four feet on floor or lap if holding her.

  Massage, simethicone.. im not sure what metoclopramide is, is it a motility drug? If not, I would get one to help get things moving. Force feeding can be dangerous if nothing is moving in her tummy.

  jerseygirl: The Metecam she got was for the pain and she is no longer grinding her teeth. Last time I know of that she passed any stool was very small pellets this morning with a lot of the mucus. Other than that, possibly Tuesday morning. She ate a ton of veggies on Monday night. I have started tummy messages tonight as well.
  
  Monkeybun: Metoclopramide is the motility drug. They wanted me to force feed her again tonight but I haven’t yet. They force fed her 3 time in 6 hours and you could see her stomach bulging to the sides up by her ribs. If I do decide to force feed again it will be at midnight a few hours after the next motility drug dose.
  
  She still can’t stand up and hop around at all. She’s still just crawling around trying to get comfortable. If she’s still doing that in the morning and not any better I will be calling the vet back to see what I should do.

  okay good. i just don’t know the names of most meds unless they are easy ones, like metacam Hope she starts feeling better with these meds. More vibes going your way!

  I was thinking about Abby the other day and was also wondering how you were doing with your recent fibro. diagnosis. Sorry to hear things have been a bit too eventful lately.
  
  Metoclopramide is Reglan which is a gut motility drug that focuses on the first stage of the digestive system. It is good also for nausea, which I’m sure Abby has a lot of right now. Metacam is a pain reliever/anti-inflamatory and can be given twice a day. If Abby continues to feel this bad tomorrow I would strongly urge you to take her back to the vet and get a shot of Bupronex, it is a much more powerful pain medicine and should jumpstart her recovery and make it more tolerable for her.   I’m so sorry. I was really pulling for her, but from your description of her condition, it seemed like this may be the end. I am thankful that you were able to be with her when she went. I hope you can find peace, and the girls will be okay. It’s heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet, especially when you’re too young to fully understand. Hugs for you…

  I wasn’t lucky enough to know about Abby and her story with you — but I wanted to say I’m very, very sorry for your loss. She was a beautiful girl and from the great vibes everyone has been giving you were a great bunny parent also. <3 I'm glad you gave her a good home and much love and that she could pass peacefully by your side.
