  I’m making 3 bunny pens and my entire apartment has laminate floors (fake hardwood). Will the bunny pee damage them? Should I put something down on the floors? What would be best to use?

  Yes pee will damage them. If you can, buy a roll of vinyl sheeting and cut it to fit under each pen, my home depot sells a large roll for about 25 bucks that should be enough for all 3 pens. It’s worth it to also keep your buns from possibly eating the fake hardwood.

  So last night all three bunnies spent their first night in their pens. The good news is that no one escaped. The bad news is my very first though when I got up this morning was “what a mess!!”
  
  Piper ~ 1.5 yr old Mini Rex(?)
  Her pen wasn’t that bad, just some poop. I’m guessing that adult bunnies go less often then babies?
  
  Carmel ~ 2 month old Nethie
  His pen also wasn’t that bad. Some poop and one puddle of pee. But he also pooped in his carrier. I just brought him home yesterday afternoon so he’s still a bit scared. And he sleeps a lot, I’m sure it’s because he’s still just a little baby.
  
  Cocoa ~ 4 month old Polish
  His cage was a mess. Poop everywhere, but not in his carrier, and one puddle of pee.
  
  More good news, it was quick and easy to clean up. What’s funny is both boys peed in the exact same corner of their pens.
  
  I was told by the mother of Cocoa’s previous owner that he was real good about using his litter pan. He was on the lower level of a double bunny hutch with a female Hotot above him. So why is he not using his litter pan now? Any ideas? He’s not altered yet and from all that I’ve read that will help make litter pan training more successful.

  All 3 of them are going to territorial mark if they know other bunnies are around. If they aren’t altered, multiply that by 10.

  I figured with Cocoa territorial marking was a big part of it and could be with Piper as well. But isn’t 8 weeks a bit young for that? Or would Caramel also be marking? I can’t get Caramel neutered yet, too young, but Piper and Cocoa will be done as soon as I can swing it.

  It depends, 8 weeks does seem young, but some start young. My vet neutered at 3 months. He also could just not be trained yet, put a box where he likes to pee, same with the other one. And did you put hay in the box? They like to eat and poo

  Sorry this is off topic. Is it possible to get Piper spayed now? Or put her in a separate room, door closed?
  It’s so risky even if they are in separate pens. Rabbits are escape artists.

  Sam and Lady’s Human ~ I haven’t called the vets office to find out the age they neuter but with Cocoa being 4 months I’m sure I can have him done right away. I don’t think Caramel has been litter box trained. I moved the boxes and yes, I put hay and their food dishes in their litter boxes.
  
  Jerseygirl ~ No, piper is not spayed yet. Hope to do it within the next 2 weeks. But thank you for bringing this up, I don’t want any babies. I could do some rearranging and move Piper into my bedroom for now, but that means I get less sleep, lol.
  
  I actually expected at least Cocoa to have escaped by now but no one has, yet…
