  I’ve been searching for hay for my mini rex, the problem is that she is a very picky eater and only likes certain cuts. I have tried to find hay locally but it seems like she doesn’t like anything they have right now. I recently bought 2 bales of what I think is 1st cut orchard grass (not sure if is 1st cut but is super nice and green), but she doesn’t seem to like it that much (my other bunny seems to love it so it’s not going to waste). I don’t want to buy oxbow because sometimes my bunny loves it and sometimes she doesn’t even want to touch it (my guess is that they have mix cuts). I am a little hesitant to buy hay online because I don’t want to be stuck with even more hay, but at this point I’m running out of options.
  
  I have heard that Kleenmama loft hay’s 2nd and 3rd cut timothy are pretty nice, but some years their cuts aren’t as nice. Has anyone bought some of their hay recently, is so, how was it?
  
  Some one also suggested to get hay from Sierra Valley Pet Hay, but I haven’t heard much about them and their hay quality. However, they have 2nd orchard (my bunny’s fav), so I’m thinking to get some from them. Has anyone tried their hay before?
  
  I’m sorry for the long post but this bunny mom is getting worried that if she doesn’t find hay soon, her super picky bunny will run out of hay

  BinkyBunny’s mini bales are excellent.
  
  I also like American Pet Diner 2nd cutting and KMS 2nd & 3rd cut.
  
  The problem with hay is that is just varies so widely based on where it’s grown, what the weather is like, the soil etc…so even if you get timothy hay from one retailer another retailer’s timothy hay may taste, feel, smell different due to many different growing factors.

  I buy oxbow or mini bales from the BB store. It’s the best price for me online and my local stores only sell orchard hay in small bags and that’s not really the best deal.

  BB’s mini bales are always a big hit here. I’ve just tried a bag of the APD Timothy Gold and they really like it as well! Oxbows pretty hit or miss with my guys, but they always REALLY love their organic meadow grass.
  
  Sorry, never tried the Sierra Valley stuff.

  The BB hay is very good, and they also sell APD Timothy Gold which most bunnies love, but they only have the small bags here. That would be good to try for your picky bunny. I buy the 5 lb. bags of APD Timothy Gold from Drs. Foster & Smith. They have good prices and their shipping prices are the lowest of any website I’ve gotten rabbit food from. They also have all the varieties of Oxbow Hay plus some other brands. I keep a variety of hays and brands on hand. I used to mainly use Oxbow Timothy, but a few months ago I switched to the Timothy Gold since the Oxbow was suddenly harder and stalkier and my bunnies didn’t like it. I know that hay is variable due to the time of cutting and weather conditions, but the APD T. Gold is really to their liking. The Oxbow Organic Meadow grass is also a favorite.

  Sierra Valley hay buyer here. Bob and his wife are incredibly helpful and the quality of their hay is outstanding. I buy all my hay exclusively from them – my rabbit loves their oat and alfalfa/orchard mix. The hay does change through the seasons – 6 months ago the alfalfa/orchard was very soft and stringy, in my most recent box it is a little bit coarser but still extremely green and fresh. The oat hay ranges from young/green to golden/old. This goes for any brand of hay, though. It is a little expensive to order from Sierra Valley if you live on the east coast like I do but it’s totally worth it. I buy a 16 lb box of hay every 3 months for one 3 lb. mini lop and get 10 lbs oat and 6 lbs alfalfa/orchard mix in each shipment. If you email them they can send you a little sample pack of sorts.
  
  Tobylove, my bunny also loves Oxbow’s organic meadow grass. It got to be quite pricey and then I found Sierra Valley – their hay is even better than Oxbow’s so I don’t have to mess around with those small bags anymore.
  
  BinkyBunny sells wonderful mini bales of oat hay, I really love the convenience of them as it’s very easy to store and feed.

  My rabbits’ hay consumption went way up when I switched from Oxbow to Sierra Valley. The quality of Sierra Valley is so much better. My rabbits seriously love the oats that come in their oat hay. The orchard grass is great too.

  I want to try BB blue grass mini bale, I was reading the description and reviews so hopefully my bunny will like it.
  APD seems pretty nice but a little price for how much you get (a 20 oz bag will only last me around 3-4 days knowing my bunny , but I will definitely consider it if I can’t find any other hay.
  I’m glad to hear that Sierra Valley hay is good. I really want to try them out, since they have a pretty good variety of hay and hay cuts, but I was a little hesitant since I haven’t heard anything about them. I live in California so the shipping is not going to be as expensive.

  I actually had just order some hay from two new companies. I bought some Oat hay from Sierra Valley and the Timothy Blue from KMS Hayloft. Skipper actually is not too keen on the Oat Hay from Sierra Valley. I’m really just waiting to buy the compressed bales from BB when they get their Mature Oat Hay back in stock. That’s her favorite by far. And I was pleasantly surprised with the hay from KMS. Skipper has gone nuts over it and it hasn’t irritated my allergies too bad. So I’m really pleased with the hay I got from there. I also love just how much you get for your money’s worth. I have also bought hay from BB and really like their hay. There is a tonnnnn packed into there.
