Ok, Brego and Beau (dogs) and Roscoe (bunny) running loose in the living room. Turned my back for a minute, turn around, and there is a little pile of…………….. goo. It was about the size of the inside of the palm of my hand, was gelatinous, reddish brown and had grass mixed in it. The color worried me at first, I thought it was blood, but was actually reddish brown.
One dog was drooling a bit, so it might have been dog vomit and they have both been eating grass like crazy, which they usually do when they have an upset tummy. I don’t think it was cecals, cuz it was a pretty big volume. Could have been bunny diarrhea – and to be honest it smelled pretty foul. Cleaned up pretty easy. Roscoe has been pooping just fine in his litter box, normal amounts, no diarrhea in his crate at all. The only thing new I gave him yesterday was some apple, which he’d never had before.
So anyone think this is something I should worry about right now? Roscoe is eating fine, very active, running around the room – the only thing is that he is almost 5 months old, and I think his hormones are raging. He isn’t spraying, but he is leaving marking pellets here and there, and I must admit he smells pretty musky around his hind end. I have only had him 3 weeks, and haven’t done the monthly maintenance stuff yet. His nails were clipped the day I got him, but I don’t know if he has ever had his anal glands cleaned out. I am NOT looking forward to that job, honestly.
Any input would be appreciated. Those of you who have Flemmies – do they normally smell pretty musky? I honestly don’t think I ever had a rabbit smell this musky…..
Edited to add – I plan on neutering him ASAP. I am interviewing a vet on Saturday morning, and if he is as knowlegeable as I think he is, Roscoe will be going in as soon as I get my paycheck from my 2nd job sometime before the 15th of Sept.
