I just went to the feed store today and bought two 40lb bags of horse bedding (pelleted) for the buns.  All in all it cost me $15.95.  I spend more than that on care fresh or yesterdays news and don’t get nearly that much bedding!!  =P  I am going to be buying this stuff from now on!

Tomorrow I am going to get about four 7lb bags of orchard grass for my buns.  I am trading my timothy hay for some hay and also buying even more LOL.  I am stocking up on supplies!! =)

I plan to take Rascal to the vet soon to get his teeth checked out.  He’s been eating up a storm now.  I think what happened that day that he wasn’t eating was that he was too hot.  Luckily the buns don’t have to stay in that room very much longer and can go back in my room.  I am going to get a second opinion on Rascals teeth to make sure I am not going to spend over $100 on a procedure that doesn’t need to be done.  I don’t want to put my bunny at risk by having a procedure done that doesn’t need to be.  Anywhoozle, yes…that’s my situation.

My mom bought my bunnies some healthy treats tonight from binky bunnies store so hopefully they come soon because I haven’t been giving them many treats besides fruit!

Valentine is well.  She is her mellow self.  I love that bunny!  I am so happy and lucky to have both these bunnies! So glad I adopted them.  <3

I’ll keep updated, and if I have any questions I shall ask.  =)

Awesome deals! I have bought a few bags of wood stove pellets at my now job about 2 years ago and I STILL am going through the bags! It is amazing on how some costs can be cut

The heat can sure make a bunny not eat as much. There was a day a few years ago that Washington reached over 100 degrees. Chacha was on the bottom floor of the house my dad and I used to live in, and it was the coolest room in the house. Chacha wasn’t eating as much. But as soon as the heat wave went away, I got my hungry bunny back.

Agreed, pictures needed!! Wood stove pellets are great but some brands smell more than others, in my opinion. I have a super sensitive snoot though, haha. Right now I’m using Woody Pet which is more expensive than what I had been using (Guardian Bedding).

I think it’s great you’re getting a second opinion on Rascal’s teeth! Keep in mind that they can get a good idea of what’s going on in their mouth on the exam table but they can not see everything in there until the rabbit is totally under anesthesia. I always have to remember that even little tiny points can really cause pain, sort of like a small pebble in your shoe – it can cause a large amount of discomfort! If everything looks good you can always wait a few months to have your bun checked out again. Eating lots of hay is the best way to keep teeth filed down so the new orchard grass should be perfect!

You guys have given me such great ideas. I am for sure going to the feed store next week as we are blowing through CareFresh with our 2 buns. I’ll be peppering them with bedding, and hay questions. haha

I found mine by googling feed stores near me.  This was a long time ago though. I’ve known where this one was at.  =P  I have a bunch of feed stores close to me I guess but this one is the best IMO!  =) They are so nice there and very informative.

Huh. I will have to try Googling to see if there’s any near me then. =]

Thanks! What is horse bedding made of?

It’s made of pine. It’s safe for bunnies, so I’ve read. I guess only the shavings are bad for buns. There are probably more types of horse bedding but this is the type my feed store had.

Uggg I wish I could buy horse bedding for litter! My bunnies won’t use anything but Yesterday’s News, I couldn’t find any a couple days ago so they got Feline Pine and I was punished by no one pooping in the box.

Are they getting along well still?

Yep!  They get along just fine.  I woke up at 4am to check on them and they were snuggling together!  It was so cute.  It was too dark to catch a picture though, that and I was in bed and too tired to take a picture and didn’t want to disturb them!  LOL  When I put them in the condo/x-pen they LOVED it they were running around with their ears perked and snooping being curious.  I could tell they were happy campers.  They haven’t used to the second level yet though.  May take some getting used to.  They did hop up onto the little ledge I made though so that’s good.  I know they can hop on there now.

I put their food bowls in the condo and a litter box (though I am going to have to get a thinner litter box because this one is too bulky and I have to turn it to get it in.   I don’t know what else to add besides toys.  I am probably going to get a hanging toy or something to add in there too.  Their pen has hides, a litter box as well, water, hay, and toys/chews.

Anyways here are the pictures I promised.  Nothing special but I’ll catch more today!

Yeah he loves that house!  They have yet to explore the second story.  =P  I think they might tonight or tomorrow though.  They are kind of lazy bun buns LOL  It’s soooo nice out tonight so after my dad mows the lawn I am going to take the buns out for about an hour.  Would have taken them out earlier but was napping =O Shame on me!  haha

                                        Anyways, here is another picture.
