After introducing them twice, I brought home Billy’s friend a little more than two weeks ago. When they saw each other at the adoption place, it was love at first sight. When they both came home, Billy was chasing her around a bit etc. However, they never showed any signs of aggression towards each other; not one bite/nip, pulling hair, nothing like that. In fact, they were grooming each other the first time they even met. So I did not even have to “bond” them, they bonded themselves without much help from me whatsoever. They began living together last Friday. In all honesty, they were ready to live together much sooner than that, but I wanted to be extra cautious. I have had Billy since April. Both of the bunnies are just under six months old. By the way, we have not really come up with a good name for the new bunny that we all agree on so any suggestions would be great (Billy is the tiny, brown bunny. The girl is the big, black-colored one). Her foster mom called her ‘Pepi’, but said we could change her name. Everything is perfect and they could not be a more perfect match. The only problem I have is that they have very different eating personalities. The big bunny (girl) eats her food very fast and finishes as soon as I set it down. Billy eats very slowly and takes small nibbles/grazes throughout the day. Since they are not quite six months yet, they are still on unlimited pellets so Billy is super hungry all the time now. She pushes him out of the way sometimes even if she has her own bowl of food to get to his food and since he’s not much interested in consuming a great deal of food at one time, he doesn’t care which leads her to finish all the food and him to be hungry/not able to graze later. This is not a problem when we are there to watch, but it becomes a problem at night or when we’re not there.
Everything else is great. Billy has always had perfect litter box habits (not even one stray poop!) and he has maintained his perfect litter box habits even though the girl (who desperately needs a name!) poops all over the place. Billy is very neat and tidy (even with hay) and likes his place to be neat and clean all the time so he doesn’t like it when the girl poops all over. Lol. He makes a face until I clean it all up. Billy is still as attached and loving with us as before we brought his friend home so it’s the best of all worlds.
