  i live with my family and bunny in an apartment. we clean our house literally everyday ( ex, mop the floor, broom , tidy up etc) but ever since we got the bunny, our kitchen is FULL of cockroaches!!! they aren’t going extreme but there’s plenty at night. we used to have cockroaches before , maybe 13 years ago, and maybe before the bunny came there was 1 or 2 but now, i think they’re coming back. they haven’t gone to the bunny’s area yet, but i’m afraid they will. i started to clean the living room and kitchen more often and i called the exterminator but her might not come for another 2 weeks or so & i just bought boric acid to dust around the house.
  QUESTIONS:
  1). are the cockroaches here because of the bunny?
  2). will my bunny eat the cockroaches or will they infest in her?
  3). is there anything i can do now?

  I doubt they are there because of your rabbit. Cockroaches can get in anywhere and no your rabbit will not eat them.
  
  As long as you are vigilant in cleaning her area then you should not have a problem.

  I agree with Sarita, I don’t think the cockroaches are because of the rabbit, especially since they aren’t around your bunny’s area. From what I’ve heard about infestations is that they can go away for a while and come back. Just make sure any treatment you use to get rid of the cockroaches won’t harm your rabbit.

  This is what my landlord told me….stomp around where they are (this freaks me out but trust me on this one) they will run and hide and then you can spray bug spray int he cracks…..and fill in the holes at some point….
  
  its a pain but it works….I would just find out what is safe for buns to be around….we havent had them in a long time….although in Sc you tend to get palmetto bugs which are big ugly mean cockroaches….

  I used those cockroach baits that you put in cupboards and under the fridge. They work really well. Being a sealed unit with only cockroach size access they are safe around the animals which is why I prefer them.

  i decided to stick with the boric acid and the roach bait traps. the cockroaches seem to come out less now, and i try to keep my bunny’s area extra clean.

  I’m no help, only seen cockroaches on holidays-I don’t think we have them here. But good luck!!

  I don’t like the sprays around bunnies, so I prefer the roach traps that are near where they seem to appear. Bunny isn’t responsible – most likely a nest was made in the walls again and there’s a new crop. An exterminator is definitely the way to go. They have chemicals that are supposed to be safe around pets (and us, too) and they don’t spray but use a stream along the edges of rooms and a building that gets into the cracks of floors and walls. Keep your bunny away from the edges until the ext. is finished. It’s your landlord’s responsibility to get it done quickly. Not your fault.

  I agree this its your landlords responsibility since you are already doing what you can to keep your place clean. They could be coming from another apartment and if other apartments sprayed, some of the surviving roach population could be moving to other apartments. This happened to me when I lived Arizona many many years ago. I haven’t had roach problems since living in that large apartment toffee complex.
