› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › A Car Flipped Against My House!
This is unfortunately not the first time this has happened at my house but it is the first time a car has actually made it over the hill and hit the house.
I was on my way home from running errands and in front of me was a mustang driving normally. All of a sudden she swerved hard left and then as soon as she came to my fence swerved right and went airborn over the fence. She flipped end over end the back windshield busted out and the car landed on its top up against my house. I was screaming by this point.
I jumped out of the car and don’t even remember my neighbor coming into my yard and I yanked open the door and thought for sure she was dead she wasn’t moving! Then she jerked and unbuckled her seatbelt and her head slammed into the top of her car. Me and the neighbor pulled her out of the car and she was covered from head to toe with glass.
Inside the car was a baby car seat that was all but crushed and I freaked out. I kept asking her if the baby was in the car and it took her a minute to tell me the baby was with her mom. By this time there are 50 people in my yard and everyone is calling 911 and her mom.
I sat down with her and she was literally shaking so hard that I couldn’t hold her still.
Luckily I found out from her mom this morning other than a mild concussion and a broken clavicle she is fine.
It was scary!
This is the car against my house I was shaking so badly that it is really blurry. It knocked the air conditioner out of the window.

Holy cow Sonn!
She was very very lucky! When I read “baby seat” my heart was in my throat. Thank God it wasn’t on board.
Was everyone (human and animal) all ok at your place?
Can’t tell for sure from the pic but those tyres dont look great. Near bald.
Everyone is fine it scared the Pacey enough for him to hide behind my bed for a few hours after. It freaked my bearded dragon out she kept jumping at the glass of her enclosure I had to get her out. I have a cut across one of my arms from the glass getting her door open. But other than that no one was hurt.
I don’t even remember what the car looked like other than the pictures.
Whoa!!! Glad everyone is ok!
That’s terrible.
Was she going too fast? Are those flames painted on the front end?
I am so glad she’s OK and the baby wasn’t there. I assume her insurance co. is going to tow it away from your yard. Is she at fault? I just wonder if the damage to your house is covered, now that we know she’s going to be fine. I hope she was examined in a hospital just to make sure her head and neck are OK too. You might be covered for your cuts by your own insurance co. also. Worth a phone call.
She didn’t appear to be going too fast. Yes those are flames painted on the front.
The car has already been towed I have been outside cleaning up glass out of my yard.
There have been several insurance agents out to take pictures and document everything.
She was taken to the hospital about half an hour after the wreck when the ambulance showed up.
Wow! That is so insane! I don’t think I would have believed it if I saw it. Do you live on a gravel road? I’m trying to picture how she could have lost control like that if she wasn’t going very fast. It’s a good thing her baby wasn’t with her, that would have been horrible.
RabbitPam – Heh, I saw the flames too. Ironic, isn’t it?
I think it was in part due to the rain we had. No gravel road just a tight curve before you get to my house. I am kind of glad she ended up in my yard since right next to my fence where she swerved the first time is a 30-40 foot drop straight down.
Oh I see, perhaps she wasn’t paying attention to the curve and panicked.
I’m glad everyone is okay!
Wow! I would have freaked out if I saw that happen! I am glad every one is ok! Must have been scary especially for the woman!

Probably twittering on her phone or something like that, would be my guess. ![]()
I’m glad nobody was seriously hurt.
Oh my goodness. Glad she was not hurt too badly.
Would have scared me stiff. To think even your lizard was freaked out.
I wasn’t expecting when i opened this for you to have seen it I thought that maybe you came home and saw it or something….
But I guess it was a really good thing you weren’t in the house….it is still habitable? Is it safe to be in there? although from the picture I can’t see much damage….wow it could have been so much worse.
I noticed the flames too…..it gave me a chuckle..
So glad her baby wasn’t with her….and glad she is okay… hopefully she will be more careful next time…
Wow! Thats crazy. Wonder what made her swerve so badly? If it was just the rain after it being hot, she must have been driving far too fast for the road conditions.
Is your house okay? How did the fluffs react?
The house if fine the gutter is banged up and the window is cracked but other than that no damage other than the fence and yard.
I honestly have no idea what made her swerve haven’t spoken to her or her mom since she got out of the hospital.
Dini was fine when I came in the house but Pacey pretty much hid and thumped for hours after and refused to come out even for treats.
The way she came into my yard I am shocked she didn’t hit my house head on I have no clue how her car ended up against my house and not inside of it.
This is unfortunately not the first time this has happened at my house but it is the first time a car has actually made it over the hill and hit the house.
That’s something that really should be addressed for you and your neighbours. Is there a highways department you can apply to? Local council? Is there something that can be done to improve it?
Oh my gosh! I’m glad she was okay and that the baby wasn’t in the car. That must have been really scary ![]()
What kind of road do you live on? Sounds dangerous and scary. Thankfully no one was in the yard or anything.
We have tried to get something even a sign that tells people about the curve but they won’t do anything. You would think with the big drop off beside my fence they would have a guard rail or something up there.
It is just a road but there is a mountain on one side and a huge drop off on the other plus a sharp curve right before you get to my fence.
I am glad no one was in the yard as well. I was running late and usually have all the dogs out in the yard at the time she wrecked.
Thank goodness you were late then!
They really should do something about that…maybe get together with the neighbors and write a letter to the mayor or something? Although I don’t know what he would do…
Do you own the house or rent? If you are just renting, I’d think about moving…
Maybe now that something like this has happened twice they will do something about it. It sounds very dangerous for you and your dogs! And of course whoever is driving.
I rent and moving is not an option at the moment unfortunately.
I hope they do something but in my city that is unlikely unless something horrible happens. They aren’t exactly known for creating way of preventing things until after something happens.
LOL I would consider THIS something horrible already! I mean, it’s not funny, but what are they waiting for, an elephant with an oozie?
I would consider this horrible as well! But unless someone is seriously injured my city does not have the same view.
LOL elephant with an oozie!
It is very sad when somebody has to die for anything to be done…but I guess it is like that in a lot of places unfortunatly….
LOL’d at elephant with an oozie too….lol
I’ve been meaning to post to this thread since the first day…but there’s simply no words for my shock at the whole situation and my relief that you and yours are well and no one else was seriously hurt.
We lived near a new freeway when I was young. I can remember once being woken at about three a.m. by squealing tires and a loud bang. Some guy, probably drunk, ran his car off the road by missing the exit and went upside down in the creek area between our house and the neighbors’. Luckily there was a wide enough error margin that he didn’t hit either house but I don’t recall if he survived the drop which had to be at least twenty feet and at a high rate of speed.
You’d think a petition for a guard rail could be circulated amongst your neighbors and a bill put forth to your city council to have something done. It’s nonsense that they won’t even look into it.
Stay safe, Sonn! Give all the furbabies snuggles from me.
The way it is out here is if you do not live in the “city” part of town they do not help. Where I grew up as a teenager around here it took close to 3 years for them to fix a place at our road that broke off and was a 65 foot straight drop and that was only because a car almost went through it.
It’s not uncommon around here to drive by a car that has went over the side of a hill/mountain the farther you get from the city limits.
NIC grids and cable ties?
If only!
It’s crazy the authorities won’t do anything but all too familiar.
