› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › what odd habit does your bun have?
Its always cute to hear about the quirky things everyone’s bunnies do, so I thought i’d ask, what are your buns odd little habits?
I’ll start ![]()
EVERY single time i give Parsley his raisin treat he insists on licking my face for about half an hour…cute at first but gross and slimy after awhile
. He will actually get angry if he is not allowed sufficient time to ‘groom’ me and will stamp his feet and give me the bunny butt lol. Its pretty funny..he thinks he has to lick everywhere as well…my eyebrows, ears, nose, forehead, chin..im not sure if he thinks i need improving or just smell really bad
haha. I think my boyfriend thinks im slightly crazy but oh well ![]()
Cute!
Stormy is also a crazy kisser/washer and wont take no for an answer.
Immediately after I give Bindi a treat, whether it’s a juicy piece of fruit or a cookie, he always washes his bib (the patch of hair on his chest under his chin). Hubby says I should sew him a little bib to wear at treat time. ![]()
If I give Olivia a new treat or toy, something that she feels is exciting, she immediately runs to hoard it in her bed or if she’s in the living room, she will run behind the cd tower to enjoy her new item in private.
I’m sure I will think of more stuff after my coffee. ![]()
The better question is how many quirks does your bun have… I’ll do my best to remember them all
If we give Bunjamin vegetables (wet like we always do) about half the time he runs towards them and stays, the other half he foot-flicks away. Before he even see what they are. I think he must get splashed with a little water or something.
He likes to get on the bed and make out with my pillow and sometimes are blanket. My pillow is his favorite for some reason. And he’ll do it non-stop.
At my parents house especially, nothing can be around the outer edges of his pen or he beats it up (throws, chews, everything).
At my house we can’t have stuff against the wall unless it’s a big piece of solid furniture and we have to block it off if he can go under because it is his life goal to make sure nothing is against the walls. I would get this if he ran along the walls but he doesn’t.
Oh and he’s obsessed with my boyfriends feet, slippers, shoes, etc. It’s a little less now he’s fixed but he still loves them!
Lilly’s odd habit peeing on phone books. And I don’t think this is on topic but she hates treats and fruits. She’ll eat veggies but she’s never excited about them XD silly bunny!
Huey licks EVERYTHING! Like not just me or my other half, but the sofa, my phone, the TV remote, my laptop, books, literally everything. The funniest one is when he flumps on the floor so that his head is right next to the towel that his toys are on, and he licks the edge of the towel! I guess he is just checking the texture of stuff! but it is quite funny! ![]()
Huckleberry hates key rings. If she finds them, she will throw them to the floor. They have no business anywhere near her. She never tosses her toys, but she will throw your keys.
Baby will stare at you and bug you untill you give her a raisin, then as soon as you give her a couple and you go to pet her she gives you the bunny butt and leaves. lol she is a diva
Cinnabun has this bizarre ritual with her water bottle. I don’t know if this is everybun, I’ve never bothered to ask, but she does it every time she wants to drink. She takes a very quick gulp, pulls her face back, circles the nozzle with her nose, takes two gulps, circles again, and then finally settles down for a nice long drink.
Cinnabun has also lately become obsessed with my t-shirt that I sleep in. It’s her, or so she believes and as such I should not be wearing it. She’ll jump on my shoulder when we’re on the couch, and start licking/digging at it. I have to keep telling her “NO” cause my shoulder is right there and sometimes her nails get a little sharp. But she won’t listen to reason. Obviously I’m going to have to give it to her and find something else to wear.
Parsley kind of does the same thing with his water bowl, he’ll take a sip, sit back and lick his chin, take another sip, do the same, then go back and drink for about minute, weird bunnies!
Also another thing
he has decided a few weeks ago that he is in love with my desk and spends all day and night sitting on it watching everything, and it must be completely clean, anything i put on there gets thrown off! all my pencils that were on there are now on the floor, same with books and other objects, and if i dare think to leave anything on there it will get the same treatment (including a whole cup of water this morning)
Freyja – that is so funny! Sounds very cute yet at times i could imagine it being a pain haha. At least it was only water this time too
Everyone’s bunnies sound so silly xD I haven’t found any of mimzy’s quirky habits yet :/ nothing out of the usual bunny language anyhow at least. But she’s only 4 mos, plenty of time to figure it out ![]()
The “Pepper”nator has now decided that I am part of the warren and as Alpha Bun I am her responsibility.
So, last week when the new ceiling was going in and some of the construction noise filtered through to the sun room where they live and I was sitting Pepper went in to protection mode. She rounded up Piglet and the girls and chased them into the sleeping box thumping all the way to alert them to the dangerous noise coming from the front of the house. Once every bun was in the sleeping box she stood up on the top floor of the bungalow to check Nermals bach pad on the other side of the room. Satisfied that Nermal was well hidden Pepper then turned her attention to me, the one member of the warren not safely hidden. Fixing me with an intent glare it began.
If Pepper could speak the conversation would have gone something like this….
(P) “THUMP” Danger short ears Danger !! glares at me with her ears back (Me) Its OK Pepperoni, just a little noise. (P) “THUMP” Danger short ears get in the hutch NOW “THUMP” raises ears and looks at me like I’m an idiot (Me) Settle Peppy, the noise won’t last long (P) “THUMP” Get in here now !!!!!!!!! ears still up with a look of complete intolerance, glances at the now burgeoning sleeping box looks back at me and pointedly looks at the sleeping box again (Me) Silly Bunny (P) “THUMP” Don’t make me come out there and get you, “THUMP” looks at me like a Mum dealing with a stubborn 3 yr old “THUMP THUMP THUMP” Stop this nonsense and get in the hutch NOW !!!!!!!…
This went on for 20 minutes….. Peps has done it a few times now when there has been a noise she didn’t like. I’m am not entirely sure how she expects me to squeeze in the bungalow with them, its big, but not that big.
lol! Don’t you know you’re supposed to try to follow your master’s commands, even if they seem ridiculous Roberta?
What a silly Pepper!
I did ask Pepper how she anticipated I was going to fit in the sleeping box with a fat Piglet and Pipi and Blossom but she just gave me another THUMP and a “Don’t Sass Me, Short Ears” Look.
hhahaa roberta. I like the “short ears”. You’re good at story-telling. I love hearing about all the bunny quirks. Good thread idea, Freyja!
HAHAHAHAHAH Roberta.
Smudge used to enjoy scaring my mom. My mom loved Smudge but small animals have just always made her nervous so she tends to flinch or make a noise if they jump at her or move quickly. Whenever she would be bunnysitting and try to feed Smudge, give her hay or just put her hand in the x-pen in general Smudge would charge towards my mom’s hand while grunting and then just before getting there (after a satisfying flinch or shout from my mom) she’d turn around and binky away. She never bit her or even got close enough to box her hand. It was like she thought it was a game, she only ever did this with my mom. My brother who was a teen living at home at the time could put his hand in or let her out and she’d be begging for pets, playing with toys for him and be her general sweet self. It used to drive my mom nuts, especially after I explained what binkies were and how Smudge only ever did this with her. I’ll give my mom credit though, as tense as she was every time even though she KNEW what Smudge was going to do, she never stopped bunnysitting for me and after about 5 years I think she secretly thought it was cute.
I think Pacey has been around my dogs for too long. If I give him something dry like a raisin he rolls on it before eating. He also likes to shove my smallest dog (still way bigger than him) out of the bed at night to sleep at my feet.
Dini has to have everything in a certain spot. I mean he will literally take a fit if his bowls and litter box and hidey box are not in certain spots. Sometimes I can get away with moving his veggie dish since it isn’t always in the cage but other than that he does not appreciate anyone moving his stuff.
Both my bunnies have vary odd habits. Kamdyns odd habit he loves to lick his pillow he lays in. He also loves to give kisses. Kamdyn goes nuts over his pellets and his veggies. Sunshine loves to lay underneath her tie blanket I made her. She also loves to snuggle in bed when she wants to. Sunshine loves to go underneath my sisters bed.
