I have had my bun for 2 weeks. He’s around 6 months. He was rescued from a shelter by a loving family that discovered mom has allergies to bunnies. I got him from them and he’s A-droable! I am extremely grateful he has never done anything on the carpet and he doesnt’ chew anything! However, I would like to have him out of the cage whenever I’m home, but his bathroom habits are still in question. If I move the litter box to where he is pooping, he changes where he poops. I bought a new one, with a grate, and filled it with hay so he can poop and graze. I discovered he’d eats there and then runs out of the cage to poop/pee behind it on the cement floor. I pick up his poop and put it in the litter box, I even make sure he watches me do it. It’s not that he doesn’t like the litter box, he just doesn’t seem to want to use it for it’s intended purpose. I have a 2nd one in the bathroom. As I said, he never goes on carpet, but he will go anywhere on the linoleum in the human bathroom. That’s why a put a 2nd box in there, but he’d rather use the floor. I’ve tried all the tricks, but he still goes where he wants. I let him run around the house, he’s so loveable. After 30 minutes, or so, I put him back in hopes that he will go to the bathroom. I also only give him treats outside of the cage, no need to give him a need to go. Any suggestions on how to get him to use the box? We have his 2 story cage in a dog play pen so he has his own front yard. Unforunately, I have had to take that privelage away from him because of him peeing on the cement. What to do???
