My bunnies had their first dark night last night – power went out at 9pm and didn’t come back til 12am, they were freaking out. Didn’t help the neighbors are STILL shooting off fireworks nightly. I keep a night light on for them in their room, but without power, it shut off. Stickers was thumping warnings the whole time, every little movement set them off bolting in the dark. My bird was freaking out too so I set the only light I had (my tablet on full brightness) in the room with him and put him in his cage to prevent a serious injury from him blindly flying into things in fear. We finally found the flashlight (note to self: make boyfriend stop leaving flashlight in the basement!) but when I tried to turn it on for them it only scared them more this weird beam of light from nowhere… so I shut it back off. Gah. Was not a fun night! Also got into the 80s inside, which my buns think 75 is hot, so they were miserable about that too and if it got much hotter I was gonna stay up all night petting them down with damp hands and refilling water bottles with cold water. Just glad the power came back before sun rise! 100F and rabbits would not mix.

I wonder if it wasn’t more of a combination of dark and the fact that there was no sound (like a/c) or fans…the regular white noise that they are used to.
