  As we all know, tomorrow is the 4th of July! Where I live, there’s not too many loud noises from fireworks, but every now and then, there’s a loud “boom”! Does anybody have any solutions on keeping their bunnies from freaking out? Mine are usually mellow and the most they will do is thump, but I do have one foster bunny that I’m concerned about. She’s really skittish. All my bunnies live in a bunny proof room and have full roam of the hallway. Should I corral them to the bunny room? Do I need to turn up the volume on the TV to drown out the noises? I’m not too sure what to do. I can only imagine how scary it can be for a little bunny.

  Im lucky that where I live I can only hear faint booms. Our fireworks on the 1st (Im Canadian!) were actually louder than usual, especially the grande finale but my buns didnt really seem to notice. Sometimes I attend the fireworks but I opted to stay home this year. Quite often here, we have amateurs using store bought fireworks but my buns dont really get upset by them. Which is funny, because Olivia will stomp repeatedly if she hears us eating croutons or any little tapping sounds.
  
  I would just stay with them during the fireworks and talk to them reassuringly. Not really sure what else you could do. You could try the TV.
  
  In a way, I hate fireworks because of how they affect animals. A few years ago, I went downtown to watch them and there was a few people that had dogs. Those poor dogs were absolutely terrified. How can people be so dumb as to think they would enjoy that? For an animal, up close, it must feel like a war zone.

  Mine are never very fazed by it – they are sheltered from it since they are inside. You hear a few kabooms but nothing bad. I do check on them though just to see how they are reacting and it’s usually just me reacting.

  I have my buns in my living room as they grew up and we have a surround sound system. they have gotton used to noises and havent reacted to any of the neighbors setting off fireworks at all. I guess mine just dont care.

  If you’re worried about it, try putting on some music or turning on the TV for soem background noise, that way it won’t be all quiet than suddenly a huge noise. It helps quite a bit from what I have seen and heard

  Stickers freaks about it, Powder is a little on edge. We get loud booms even inside so …

  i doubt we’ll hear anything here,,
  with only 1/3 inch of rain so far this year,, anyone lighting anything will be getting hauled off to jail for reckless endangerment.

  My bunnies are used to living the “quiet life” that when there is any noise, they let me know about it and show disapproval by thumping. It’s like my alarm system! I’ll just keep an eye on Phoebe to make sure she’s not freaking out. A friend suggests Rescue Remedy, but I’ve never used on my bunnies. I’ll check out the FAQ section here. Maybe I can find something about it. Thanks so much!

  How did everyone fare? What really helps me is shutting all my windows and turning on the air conditioner as well as the TV.

  We wound up having a burn ban here so only the professional ones went off. So it was nice and quiet here.

  Well, there was one night before the 4th that a huge BOOM went off in my apartment complex. It not only scared me, but Chacha as well. Her body went low to the ground and her ears went on alert. Other than that, she was fine.
