(((LBJ))) sometimes we all need to lament and lean on someone a little. I’m sure you have been there for others in the past and will be there for others in the future. Right now its your turn so lean as much as you want, I’ve got strong shoulders and don’t mind taking the time to listen. Same with everyone else here.
The job is a means to an end and I know how the struggles can drain you. Like some of the others I have been there and have only recently started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, even when things improved financially there was still a long period of catch up with outstanding bills etc and there are still a multitude of repairs to be made around the house that I have not been able to afford to do…People don’t always understand and will make judgements based on misinformed assumptions. Don’t let it get to you, you know who you are what you have gone through and where you are going.
But time will out… You will get there and we don’t mind being there for you along the way.

Roberta – Yes, yes, yes! What you said is absolutely right. I start making a little bit of money and it still isn’t enough because I have bills that are backed up. I don’t think the people around me (especially this person I was talking about) comprehend how bad it really is. I got my first paycheck on Thursday and it was gone in a blink of an eye and there was still so much other stuff I needed to pay for. Now all I can think about is the next paycheck and how it is already “spoken for”. It is nice to know that someone understands. =)

Cinnabun – I realized that this morning. I can’t believe the 4th is already on Wednesday. No plans though, unfortunately.

Personal purchases of fireworks have been banned down here for years thanks to the idiots and the big public displays cause the local fauna too much distress. Trust me, shrieking flocks of Corellas circling over the roof for a few hours cures you of any desire for fireworks. Turn out the lights and enjoy the stars so much prettier.

My plans for the 4th are the plans every 4th : Stay home, try to keep the animals from having a heart attack from fear, since I have a parrot try to keep the night frights to a minimum… maybe rearrange the bunnies room so they have fewer obstacles when they spook and hopefully no emergency vet visits needed. And not sleep until the idiots around here stop shooting off explosives around 3am. Not a big fan of this holiday. :s The professional displays are cool, but neighbors shooting fireworks over your roof until 3-4am is just… annoying.

Later this month I am going to Florida for a week to visit family. Thinking about going to the beach. My grandmother still hasn’t had her surgery yet, hoping it keeps being put off til after my visit so I get to spend time with her. People keep saying it’s going to be soo hot in July down there and I am just like “I WANT it to be hot!” haha

My buns don’t seem to mind the fireworks. There are a lot of annoying people shooting them off around here too. You are only supposed to shoot them off on the 3rd and the 4th, but there were plenty going off last night. I’m so glad these people down the block are no longer there though. Every year, they would have hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks. They were shoot them all off and you knew many of them were illegal within the city limits (some types are not allowed due to them being a fire hazard). After they were done, they would just leave all their trash and debris in the street and they wouldn’t clean it up. I was so angry one year, I called the police on them.

Well, I just submitted my resume for a job that I am SO not qualified for. Haha!

I’m turning away from fireworks. My one dog is deathly afraid of them. They put bunjamin on edge. And where we live right now I have to try to figure out of they are gun shots or fireworks. Not fun.

I’m on vacation up north right now. Bf surprised me for our anniversary. It’s so pretty and it’s actually cooler up here then where we live. Plus we’re on the water so the breeze helps.

I’m not really into the firework thing either. I tend to agree with Roberta about the stars. 🙂 It’s soooo dry here and people are so irresponsible that I’m afraid they’ll end up setting fires all around us. Not looking forward to it. But….

The plans I have for this week include building a new bunny condo!! Up until now, I’ve been using an x-pen, but last week I bought my NIC cubes at K-Mart and I’ve been going over everyones pictures of their condos with a fine tooth comb. I’m so excited to build it, but I just want to do it right. I’ve been laboring over what to cover the different levels with (my buns LOVE to chew carpet, so that’s not really an option, I’m afraid). So, if anyone has any good ideas, I’d be happy to hear about them!

Eh, speaking of fireworks. I was finishing up my homework for my Clinical Procedures class, and all of a sudden, “BOOM!” come from outside the living room window. It scares the crap out of Chacha bun. I was so tempted to yell out the window. Poor little girl Depending on the weather for July 4th (Washington has got the most random weather around), I may close the window. Last year, Chacha was not effected by fireworks at all, but I am a bit concerned about the morons setting off fireworks, despite it being illegal in my city.

Today at work, I became the fastest cashier. According to charts, I scan 637 items an hour. So I got a sign put at my register (and I have to put it there when I work all next week,ugh) with my name and how many items I scan, and it says “Fastest Cashier.’ I am not fond of the fact that the sign says my last name, since I like to remain some anonymity while at work, and like to be known by first name only by customers.

This morning, Chacha bun woke me up. My dad usually feeds her her breakfast pellets, but he was at his girlfriend’s place. So, she woke me up by jumping onto my bed, and by putting her face near mine. She was demanding pets, and after she had enough, I woke up and gave her her breakfast.

 Last week, I bought a juicer. I juiced 2 carrots (I now can buy carrots with the tops, since the diva likes the tops, and I juice the carrots), an apple, and an orange. It was the most delicious, natural juice that I’ve ever tasted. I cannot buy store juice, unless I am desperate

What is everyone doing for Fourth of July? By chance, I have that day off from work (my days off are set due to school) and I don’t have to go to campus for clinical classes, so I am going to go to my Uncle’s house for a BBQ. My dad is making Hawaiian macaroni salad to take to the party and I am already drooling to have some .. My aunt said that she is going to make her famous Filipino Lumpia Rolls ….. I think I may just have a light breakfast that morning!

Cha Cha, I totally agree about the name thing. My name badge at work has my last name on it and I don’t like that at all. It’s nobody’s business what our full name is. Too many crazies out there trying to steal identities and who knows what else!! I’ve complained but they say its a “regulation” (I work in a hospital). However, I have a second job in another hospital that only puts our first names on the badges. So…who makes up this “regulation” anyway? I think its bullcrap. Anyway….still….I think congratulations are in order for you! Way to go miss “fastest cashier”!!!!! Now everyone will be going to your line thinking they’ll get out faster!

This will be my buns first Fourth of July, so I hope they’re not too frightened by any of my neighbors and their fireworks. We live in a rural area, so I really only have one neighbor that goes a little crazy on the Fourth. We shall see. I believe our fireworks have been banned due to the drought, but somebody always has to break the rules.

This 4th i am spending most of my day at the Humane Society helping out the bunnies. It’s closed to the public, though, so won’t have to deal with people. A lot of their staff people will likely be on vacation, so they need more help with stuff we don’t usually do, like cleaning cages and feeding and such.

That’s awesome, MB! I’m sure those buns will be delighted to see you on the 4th and have your undivided attention!! I wish I had a rabbit rescue somewhere near me, I’d love to volunteer!

There is one bunny there thats been there since last october. She’s a 10lb big white lady with pretty red eyes. Her name is Jewel, and she has gotten quite attached to me She looooves it when I come to see her. Other volunteers are sure that she has picked me to adopt her, and thats why she hasn’t gone home with anyone. She’s rather testy with some people, but binkies and gets all lovey when I’m there I promised her the other day that if she is still there once I have a house and a room just for her, she can come home with me

The 4th of July is my hubby’s Bday. Since he’s working, I’m having a pool party/BBQ for him the following weekend.

We are family. Mummy Pepper in the middle, Daddy Piglet (Big Cuddles) at the back, Pipi to the right front and Blossom at the left front. Hopefully Nermal Nomnoms can be part of the family pics soon.

And yes they posed themselves, I had no hand in it. They sleep like this all day.

There’s a space reserved for Nermal at Peppers right flank, I’m sure they leave it clear especially for her (except Pipi who is a poopy head when it comes to being nice to her older sister)

Chacha, congrats and I agree, that is so not OK! I can hardly stand having my FIRST name on my badge after one creep came in asking the managers where I was specifically. The manager seemed to take it as a joke but the guy looked like a crazy person, so much so that we nicknamed him Cave Bear. I hope you can either ask your boss to understand your caution and reprint the sign or that nothing happens (though I am sure it won’t and you will be fine, it’s smart to be cautious)

I will be joining my family at the “lake” *cough*retention pond*cough* to watch a fireworks display put on by the city and parks department. As is our tradition, I am expecting we will have KFC and I am perfectly happy with that. This year though, we will be adding my Grandma to the tradition for the first time so I am extra excited. I get the whole day off from work so I might have a couple drinks too, maybe my mom’s cherry pucker frozen lemonade. YUM!

I don’t think Huck minds the noise all that much, but we will leave the tv on for her, just in case.

I can’t believe it’s July already (I think that every month though)

I don’t have any plans for the 4th except to enjoy not working. My boss has given me a lot more responsibility lately and I hate it. I work in manufacturing, but he made me take over some development stuff, which typically doesn’t happen. He thinks I’ll be able to do a good job and get this thing done faster, but I just feel like a fish out of water a bit – I don’t have development skills and I feel overwhelmed most of the time. I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually, but right now I hate it. Plus, most of the people I have to work with are tense and mean to each other. So many meetings go 1/2 hour over schedule because people are arguing. The guy I usually work with is out this week, so I really have to take over everything he normally does and that stresses me out more.

But I’m going on vacation starting Saturday and I’m out the whole week. I can’t wait!

Ah — it’s also my bun buns first 4th of July! And I’m on vacation and have someone looking in on them every day, I hope they don’t get to scared from all the fireworks! Poor babies. I miss them soooo much and it hasn’t even been a full 24 hours yet! We’re on vacation in Colorado at one of my BF’s familys vacation condos so it’s REALLY relaxing and so pretty but because of all the wildfires and such we won’t get to see any fireworks!

Today is also my BF and I’s first year anniversary! Which is exciting but it definitely doesn’t feel like it’s been a year.

LBJ — good luck on your application! And don’t stress too much, I know how you feel. I currently work a slightly above min wage job (Quiznos) and lately I’ve been having insane doctors bills. I’ve been throwing up since December and no one can figure out why. So I’ve been having all these tests and everything done and still the doctors are all confused… and since I only work a min wage job that’s not even full-time I’m sure you can imagine the horribleness of it. Thank God for me my boyfriend really wants me to get better so he keeps paying for everything I can’t (which is insanely sweet of him). But it puts stress on me knowing he’s taking care of so much for me and basically it’s going nowheres with the doctors. It’s starting to become a much bigger issue though — which I’m hoping doesn’t get worse. I was 148 lbs back in December and now I’m down to 113. We all go through tough times! Just remember — tons of people here at BB are here for you!

I did, however, hear back from that professor. They have a meeting next week and I will hear how that goes then. Hopefully it will pan out for me.

LoveChaCha – I completely agree with you. I don’t think customers need to know what your last name is. There was this guy that was pretty much stalking me once. I switched departments, but since my name tag had my last name on it he asked around and someone actually told him where I was!

Just found out that my lovely lady bunny friend Jewel at the humane society got adopted yesterday! She’s been there since last October, and was definitely in need of a good home. I just hope the people that adopted her are knowledgeable about bunnies, cuz she sure has an attitude!

Yes, drastic weight loss like that is definitely not a good thing. Hope they come up with a diagnosis for you, tanlover. Have they given you any anti-nausea medication? That may help with the vomiting at least, so you can keep something down.

I cannot wait until this quarter is over o_O I definitely prefer 11 week quarters instead of 8.

Lots of stuff crammed into 8 weeks, then? Well, at least it will be done sooner

I’m bringing both my boys to the vet tonight. Bindi is going to be weighed in because he’s lost some weight at his last ear check and she wanted to have him weighed again at 2 weeks. Stormy is getting bloodwork done because he’s lost quite a bit of weight in the last little while and Im concerned. He seems way too skinny. 3 ounces is a lot to lose when you only weigh about 3 lbs. I wanted to get bloodwork done anyways as part of his senior health care. Wish us luck!

My week is starting to go better. Earlier, the other managers I’m working with said I had to present at a meeting on Friday that I didn’t feel ready for. Today, I found out the meeting is cancelled since it’s a holiday week and everybody is out. Yay! Also, my boss just stopped by to tell us to leave by 2:00 today since tomorrow is a holiday. He usually does that before a holiday so I should have expected it, but I didn’t even think of it since the holiday is in the middle of the week – it ended up being a nice surprise. I also had a meeting from 4-5, so I would’ve had to stay at least until then, but it was moved because of the holiday.

OMG CinnabunMom! HAHA, I think you are getting a “Mom? Why aren’t you feeding me?” kind of look! I see frequent rabbitude pics of Chacha waking her mom up, and Huck sure thinks it’s fun to jump on my belly from the back of the couch when I am napping… what is it with buns? Why do we get such attitude from taking naps?

Yesterday, I “trained” my new boss. Not that she needed it, she is highly qualified and knowledgeable about the job, but she just needed to get familiar with our procedures. It’s still fun to say though lol. Anyway, she is working out great! It is nice to have another person in this library with me. I think the books have heard all my stories now and are a little fed up with me 😉 it’s been a boring summer.

Acckkk frustration. I was going to drop Peppy off at my ex’s place (in another city), and leave her there until at least when I’m done with travel/moving. He told me this morning that just this past weekend he adopted another bunny with his current girlfriend, and his apartment is too small to comfortably house two bunnies separately for an extended period of time. So now I’m scrambling to find arrangements for her, siiigh. Just kind of annoyed since we had kind of agreed on sharing responsibility for her (as we adopted her together), and this kind of complicates things. I’m glad he’s opened his home to another bunny from the shelter, especially with the post-easter rush coming in, but a heads up would have been nice.

TL- There is a patch, I’m not sure if it’s over the counter or not (my mom got it for me) when I was on a medicine that made me anorexic and the patch helped quite a bit. It goes behind the ear.

I’m back from up north. BF and I had a mis-communication about how long we were going to be up there. So we came back a day earlier than I thought because he set the reservations a day shorter than I knew. Bunjamin was happy and we got lots of binkies.

CM, that picture is sooo cute. Bunjamin will sometimes jump all over me when I’m sleeping. I feel him yet keep sleeping

Thanks for the Happy Anniversary, LittlePuffyTail! We’ve been having such a good relaxing time out in Colorado and I txted our bunny sitter last night to make sure my little brats weren’t too much of a handful and she had a great update so I feel so much better! My BF kept laughing at me because I kept looking at my phone hoping she would randomly txt me an update and then finally I realized he was being a scared bunny daddy to when he told me to nonchalantly txt her a nice message. We left her with a $50 gift certificate to as a surprise since she didn’t want to be compensated for all her time! Also, good luck to Bindi and Stormy!!! Hope they get better — we seem to have the same problem with weight loss!!

They’ve tried me with anti-nausea medicine to help but the only thing that has helped so far was Zofran (what they give cancer patients for their nausea) but good Lord was it impossible. It helped for the nausea for the meal when I would take it 30 minutes in advance but then I was down for the count for a good 4 days. It made me so constipated and I had HORRIBLE stomach cramps. It just wasn’t worth taking every meal when it would leave me immobile for 4 days afterwards. I would’ve felt miserable every single day. And it’s not a long-term solution. They recently decided to have me try motion sickness medicine though and that’s been helping slightly. I’ve only been trying it for a few days though but that also is not a long-term solution! Which is frustrating because I just want to find out what it is! I feel like my body has to be doing it for some reason and even if it was something untreatable just to know what it is helps so my mind isn’t constantly drifting to the worst! It could be much worse though — so in the end, I’m thankful.

Wow Peppy, thats really #@%$# of him. I wish I could offer my help but I think I am still bit a too far to be much help and I don’t have much space. Hopefully you can find an affordable boarding place with a great vet or bun rescue or some friends that can help and that the move will go fast.

The weather man I was watching today must have either been instructed to expand his vocab or he just got back from an unfortunate dr’s visit… he used “impotence”, “aborted” and “incontinence” in his weather forecast. I fear the weather now on all fronts.

The weather here is absolutely HORRIBLE right now! I’m all for warm weather but it has been ranging from 95s to 100s all week with no break. Today is predicted to be 102 and Thursday is supposed to be 104. We’re also having a serious drought, and although each day there’s supposed to be a thunderstorm there hasn’t been one so far, all the grass here is yellow. I’ve been going every midday to he stable to cool Strauss off and then going back around 8 or 9pm to sneak in some exercise and then turning him outside for the night so he’s not sitting in a stall all night without good airflow.

My trip to Japan was amazing, my favorite part of it was the home stay which was what I was most worried about beforehand. I really loved the host family I stayed with. They were all such nice people, even all the extended family they took me to meet. When it was time to leave for the traveling part of the trip my host sister started crying. I tried a lot of different foods with them, including pig organs, tentacle, raw fish, and cow tongue. I have to say that the pig organs tasted like death, but I ate them with a smile on my face because they were all looking at me expectantly. The breakfasts they eat are HUGE but very good.

The traveling part of the trip was fun too but my Japanese teacher who we were all paying for to be there did not do her job. She was supposed to take us sightseeing and show us cultural stuff, especially because she’s been there so many times and even lived there, but she actually just sent us out into cities with rail passes by ourselves the entire time, she didn’t even eat meals with us. She literally took this trip to see her friends and have fun doing what she wanted to do in her favorite country, she even told us that sometimes she didn’t get back to the hotel until 2 am. She also didn’t treat us very well, she was at times mean with they way that she would talk to us. My friend and I ate Japanese food the entire time but one night after a long day of traveling we decided to try McDonalds and later on that night our teacher made a comment to us “you know, I’m sure that really helps your skin going and eating McDonalds like that.” Anyways, her behavior during the trip was so unprofessional and wrong, and unluckily for her one of the 4 students that came was the head of school’s son, oh our headmaster is so angry. We travled to Himeji Castle, spent a couple days in Hiroshima, another couple days in Kyoto, and 5 days in Tokyo. Even though our “guide” didn’t do her job all 4 of us managed to travel around by trains, buses, and walking and actually saw some pretty cool stuff! I’m proud to say that we didn’t get lost once! I really loved seeing Himeji Castle and going to the zen gardens and shrines in Kyoto. Tokyo was my least favorite, because it’s just so busy and kind of scary, but it was a cool experience.

The bunnies were angry with me for days after. Wilbur kept running away and acting as if I was a stranger. And Totoro actually flicked his ears and turned around after I petted him the first night. I had never seen the “bunny butt” done with such purpose before it made me sad but it was also funny. But now all is well, I have spent the past week trying to give them plenty of attention and some craisins. My mom took excellent care of them.  Sorry I wrote so much!

That sounds like such a fantastic trip! I’ve never been out of the country — my BF’s boss is actually on his way to Japan this week because their company is offering a business plan solution to the head hanchos there regarding remediation services in Fukushima. Which is way over my head but it’s the 2nd time he’s going there in like a month! Him and his wife went on a 2-week vacation there not that long ago and had a ton of fun too! I’m not sure if I could do all the Eastern Countries like Japan and China and such… I’m not much in trying new foods and they seem to eat a lot of seafood and weird things… all of which I’m not a fan. Hahahaha. I primarily stick to chicken, beef, and lamb.. :X I’m not one for going outside the box!

I’m going white-water rafting today while on vacation! Hopefully I don’t injure myself — has anyone else been? I’m so excited.

And I got my 2nd day update last night from my bunny-sitter, all my buns are doing great! I found such a great person — she went out and got more timothy hay even though I told her if it runs out she could just use alfalfa since the buns are all still babies but she did it anyways! Our little girl wouldn’t come out of her cage yet (which isn’t too much of a surprise because she’s a shy and skittish bun and took forever for her to come out of her cage on her own when we first got her!) but the two boys have been coming right out and being good going back in! Which is shocking.. I was hoping they wouldn’t give her too much trouble. They hate being caged up all day and Fleury after his neuter being in his cage for two days straight was so difficult to get back in! But apparently it’s all been good!

I’m hoping when I go back home they don’t give me the bunny butt for not being around for so long.. the two boys have major ‘tude and are always being the bratty ones.

I’m glad you had a good time bunnyfriend! That sounds so much like a college trip. My professor just turned us loose and we did whatever we wanted. We hardly ever saw him.

Yesterday, I got my haircut. It is now pleasantly short and easy to keep up. I really don’t need to do anything except blow dry my bangs (they are side swept and need to be trained again), and just some of this product to keep the bangs to the right side.

I went to Chinatown and splurged a lot on Japanese candy. Green tea ores and kit kats, anyone? I have a weakness for green tea candy 😮

The boyfriend and I went out to eat the Olive Garden. I had a wild berry margarita, and it was delicious The amount of alcohol was not a lot, but the drink was so sweet

I’m not doing anything today. I’m broke and holidays like this are no fun when you don’t have any money. No one is having a party that I know of. So I guess that means I’ll be watching TV, doing laundry, etc today. =\

bunnyfriend, that sounds like a fantastic trip!

My IB school took everyone to Spain (also Portugal – every year they picked another close country to visit). My parents couldn’t afford to send me, but it didn’t sound nearly as much fun as your trip anyway. The teacher sounds horrible, but I think you’re actually lucky you got to do so much on your own! For my school’s trip, they had a bunch of teachers (since there were 50-60 kids) and nobody had any freedom to do anything. It was like lockdown at the hotel. lol I bet you learned a lot more and had more fun exploring on your own.

Chacha, do you have hair pictures? I’ve been toying with cutting my hair again, but I dunno. I’ve had it shoulder length and I liked it, now it’s long and I like it (down to the bottom of my bra strap in the back), but I *hate* it at a medium length. I’m afraid to go shorter again because then it will be a pain to grow it out. It is getting too long though, so maybe I should get 4″ off or so. It’s still easy to care for since it’s naturally straight – I just blow dry my bangs and the front of my hair, so it only takes 5-10min.

My 4th has been low key. DH and I went out for a hike in the morning, so that we fun. I need to get in shape for our vacation next week! I’m a terrible hiker on steep trails, since my asthma always acts up, but I do enjoy it. The first mile of this hike is really steep, but after hitting the top of the hill we continued on the trails. They were across a ridge and not steep at all, so it was nice. We wanted to visit the fire tower, but we weren’t sure which path to take an ended up by the cell phone towers on the other hill instead. Haha. Next time we’ll find it! The top of the main hill is actually pretty cool, since it used to be a casino/hotel with a cable car up it, so you can still see the concrete foundations and the cable car equipment. The view is amazong – you can see all the way to the Catskill Mountains across the river. Here are some pictures from the top that I took a couple years ago. In the first one you can see the first ridge of the Catskills in the background. The second picture shows the remains of the building that housed the cable car motors and you can see all the way up to Poughkeepsie.

LBJ, you can totally do fun things without having any money! We’re not doing anything other than our hike and grilling some porkchops, but it’s a nice relaxing day. There are also fireworks for free most places (though I’ll probably be too lazy to visit any in my area).

Elrohwen – There is no fireworks display today. There are some in some other towns, but I really don’t want to use up my gas driving there. I thought about going for a bike ride, but there is a heat advisory today. It is supposed to be 100 today, plus the heat index (it has been super humid this week). I don’t know if my husband will want to grill anything with it being so hot. LOL

Cinnabun – You have the right idea. Today is a good day to not worry about anything.

We started our hike around 9:30 and it was so humid that I was sweating my butt off in 5min. Haha. It was hotter but less humid near the top, which was nice. It’s almost 90deg now so I’m happy to be back home in the house.

Maybe you could go out once it’s later, like 7:00? It’s still hot, but at least the sun isn’t as bright then so it feels cooler. Relaxing is good too though – I’ve spent the whole afternoon in the cool house watching tv and reading 🙂

Just had a rousing game of cut-bunny-toenails. Hannah never holds grudges and she came to me for pets immediately after cutting her nails. Otto is a grouchy thing and he thumps every time I come near him. Oh well.

Well this was a depressing holiday. It doesn’t help when someone refuses to get out of bed and it is now 7pm.

That’s so funny Elrohwen. I’m sure Otto with forgive you.

You already know how mine was. The buns were fine though. There are still people shooting off fireworks all around and they hardly notice. I wonder if some of that is from Wooly seeing Leopold sitting there calmly and then he thinks it is no big deal too.

My two don’t even seem to notice the fireworks. Maybe if they were right in the backyard Hannah would freak out (Otto doesn’t care about anything), but they’re far enough away that it probably sounds less noisy than the tv during an action movie.

Well I had an interesting night. I was up at my parents for the holiday and me and my mom and bf stayed home to comfort the scared pets while the rest went off to a firework show. I taught them some poker games and stuff like that and we all went to bed.

Then, “BOOM!” at 4 am and I watched as lightening was hitting all around us. It looked like a hurricane but really it was a thunderstorm with really high winds. The lightening and winds took out electricity for almost a 30 mile radius around my parents house. So I drug the bf out of bed to help me find a flashlight so I could get some candles and get a freezer buddy for bunjamin. Well we couldn’t find flashlights in my mom’s house (found out later they were all in her room with her :/) but we managed to get a freezer buddy using my phone light. But Bunjamin was super freaked. I told Andy he probably witnessed the lightening take out the transformer in front of our house because the window in his room was opened. I shut the blinds but I couldn’t leave him a light because I though candles would bug him more. I worried about him as silly as that sounds. Then I had to try to get some sleep. They say my parents wont have electricity until tomorrow night so they went and bought a generator for the fridges and to plug in some fans for the pets. Me, Bunjamin and the bf went back to our place with electricity Obviously, I offered to let my family stay with me where there is AC but they couldn’t leave bc of work.

Meh. I’m overwhelmed with the amount of homework that I have to do this quarter. Plus I don’t even understand Accounting this quarter. The instructions for this current chapter that I am on are so not clear. Ugh.

I want to go back to bed.

It’s currently 99 degrees out and there has been no sign of rain or anything yet The fireworks bugged Totoro only a little bit, Wilbur was blissfully unaware. What’s really been freaking them out is there is a major sewage reconstruction thing going on right now and they’re constantly drilling and using dynamite to make pathways underground and not only is it super loud but our whole house shakes, so even Wilbur is being disturbed.

LoveChaCha: They have so much green tea flavored stuff in Japan! A really popular one was green tea ice-cream.

Elrohwen and LBJ10: I definitely agree that our trip was better for it, it was fun to experience things that way. I wish that she had maybe shown us some more cultural things that we wouldn’t have known to go see on our own. Everyone is angry mostly because we feel taken advantage of because according to the school she did the opposite of what she was supposed to do and my friend and I wish we had just gone by ourselves so we wouldn’t have paid for her vacation basically. Maybe I should just suck it up though

accounting suuuucked,, i barely scraped by with a C in that class,,, but funny enough,, its the only class im actually using now.

today i cleaned out my closet and found the paperwork from when my boys were neutered. the place i took them to was a multi-vet practice, so i didn’t find out until afterwards that a different vet who hadn’t seen the boys before actually did the surgery. anyway, so i was looking over the papers and discover the vet who did the surgery is the same vet who a few years later (as a mobile vet) became my goats’ vet for 4 years! 

goats make wonderful pets, they just love cuddles and pets. sadly i don’t have goats anymore though.

Cinnabun, I had a goat when I was a kid they actually are great pets… except for the mess of their droppings. Ours would crawl into my lap and lay there for hours just being pet and talked to out on a wooden bench we had in the yard. He LOVED humans and was a total baby. If it wasn’t for the eating everything and pooping anywhere they please, he would have slept in the bed I am sure, he was that attached. He was such a sweet heart. I would love to get another one, but I don’t have the area for it here… after a very bad experience with neighbors I won’t get another unless I can build a very secure (multi layer fencing, enclosed, concrete lining the outside) area for it.

Buns survived the fireworks with only a few freak outs, the bird liked them less though… he did a few scared circling the room flying runs.

There are 2 goats at the stable where I board my horse. Big goats, theyre Nubians. Total cuties. Except the female absolutely hates my Mom for some reason and always tries to ram her! The barn where Winnie was born bred Nubians and I loved cuddling the babies. They are so sweet when they are little. A barn full of goats is smelly though. 

AHHH! I love goats! My town is working with the agg school and using the goats to mow areas around town around parks (nothing next to busy streets, just in neighborhoods). Finding where they have been moved to is a game for my friends and I. If we spot them, we tell EVERYONE! They are so funny.

Huck didn’t seem to mind the fireworks. I wasn’t home with her at the time but bf stayed home and said he never heard her freak out. He was trying to sleep for work but of course, he couldnt.

I got my first experience in the gallery yesterday! I am so excited to be able to spend the whole semester working on it. We took down one show, packed it up, and put up another. It was like Chirstmas! They let me have a lot of say in where the pieces were hung and how they were arranged.

Huckleberry- that sounds really exciting! I would love to spend my day looking at art. I guess you could say I’m an art nerd

I find art interesting but I have to admit most art I dont get, unless its just a pretty picture. One of my dreams is to visit the Louvre, though. Cmon, lottery tickets…

My BF’s uncle has 2 of those little mini-goats, I can’t remember what they’re called. They were soooo adorable! And you could pick them up and hold them and everything. So adorable.

LittlePuffyTail — What kind of horse do you have?!!? I LOVE horses. My huge obsession when I lived in NY. I haven’t rode in a year (since I’ve moved to Pittsburgh) because I didn’t bring my car down with me and I can’t really get it until I get a better job to pay for my car insurance and my car payments each month, since my grandparents pay for both while they hold on to it for me. When I was younger, I had two Appaloosas and a Quarter but before I left NY I was helping at a stable to get some riding time in and I was working on showing this gorgeous gelding, Gus. He was a Thoroughbred and a crazy little jumper. (I love jumping and hunter.) I miss them soooo much! We tried riding when we came out to Colorado but the cheapest place we could find was $50/hr and my BF isn’t that into riding since he’s never done it before so I didn’t push for it.

I find art pretty — but I’m with PuffyTail, I don’t really understand it at all either.

LoveChaCha & Mike — I love accounting! That was my major for 3 years until I switched to Finance.

tanlover, if you get your car back and are looking for somewhere to ride, check out Bargee Farms. I rode their for 10 years growing up and it’s a gorgeous facility. Barbie Bancroft is the owner and she’s a national level show jumper, so they have some great horses (both show horses to watch, and school horses to ride).

That’s amazing, Elrohwen! Thanks for the information. I just looked up their website and it looks so amazing. My BF’s uncle has horses but they’re all Western and I’m pretty sure haven’t been trained on English and I’d really like to take more lessons! My buns take up so much of my time lately — when I get home from this vacation it will officially be bonding time! — so that’s going to take up my time.

Art: I feel like a lot of it has been so over-analyzed and there is no reason to do that. I think with a lot of it, you can get a lot from the title or any description or artist statement posted. Sometimes the more abstract stuff is just for the viewers interpretation. I know a lot of artists that really enjoy hearing what others see in it because they intentionally left it open.
I love working in the gallery though! It was so much fun. This summer can’t end fast enough so I can start that internship.

bunnyfriend – OH HEY!! How was your trip to Japan? I LOVE anything green tea.. omg! I found a bunch of green tea flavored candy on Tuesday at an Asian grocer. Green tea kitkat and oreo.. *drools*

longhairmike – So glad that I’m not the only one that dreads Accounting. Last quarter was so easy… now it is like where.. do these numbers go?!

So it’s official. We’re moving into a house. And me, dad, and andy were negotiating rooms. Looks like I might have a bunny room! I’m still working on it but I have a feeling it’ll happen. I’m also having lots of dreams about getting Bunjamin a friend so I’ve started putting money aside for that

LittlePuffyTail, I’m sooo jealous! And that’s really cool that there are lots on here! I’ve seen a few mention their horses and I’m like AHHHH… Miss horses. My BF always tells me I’m obsessed with buns because I’m constantly on this site (which he is too — I always catch him surfing the web for bunny articles and thoughts on different stuff with them which is freaking cute as heck — never thought my BF would find them as great of pets as I do and he absolutely adores them!) and so anyway I always tell him that my horse obsession has to be transferred to my buns now since I have no horses here! He thinks it’s hysterical but he loves this site to and always looks for info on here soo he can’t talk that much!

FrankieFlash, that’s so cool! My BF and I want a bunny room SO bad. But we have a mortgaged condo that’s only one-bedroom. So whenever we decided to move we plan on getting an extra bunny room! I want it to be a house sooooooooooooo bad though because I want a HUGE bunny like a Flemish Giant or something of the sort when we have enough room for him. They’re soooooooo huge. And you should totally get him a bunny friend! Watching my little terrors together is the cutest thing ever. We were so happy we got our Fleury some more.. they all came from the same litter though, haha. Even if you get a certain breed, our breeder let us bring our first one along and then he picked out his buddy after we narrowed down which ones we were considering (even though we ended up getting all of them, oops! :X). It was cute to watch him… of course, he picked out his favorite buddy to be the one who kept thumping at him (the female). It was hysterical. And we let them ride home in the carrier together and she was terrified but after that they were great buds!

I finally came home from vacation and my buns seemed surprised to see us (they just kinda stared for like 5 minutes) before they started binkying all over the place and being their little terror selfs! We finally got their condo built and it’s awesome. We love it and they love it! They all spent the night in their together last night and we laid on the floor outside to make sure they were all fine and it went soooo smoothly! Bonding them all has been soooo easy but I’m not sure if it’s because they’re so young, if it’s because they’re all from the same litter even though they were separated, or if we just got really lucky.

I don’t know how long we’ll be living there since we’ll be renting from my parents but I’m pretty sure I can convince them to let me do what I please with the other bedroom since we’re paying. My mom says I gotta be clever about how I bring up the second rabbit with my dad too. So I’ll start thinking. Its funny because I am an adult but still have to play diplomatically to my parents.

CM- I would DEF let him pick his own buddy. But I do have a rescue picked out that I would start the dating at. I plan on taking him bunny dating with the rescue that I volunteer with that helped me save Lilo from her bad home. I have to put a stipulation on hair length though because my two roommates- dad and sometimes Andy think they are allergic to long hair :/ I don’t really believe it but I want a harmonious home. Obviously it would be nice if he picked a rabbit close to his size so the space they wouldn’t need be extreme but I kinda like this huge English Spot at the rescue too. I try not to pick favorites because the decision will be Bunjamin but its so hard. I wish I could take them all home. Last night I had a dream where I rescued like 10 buns. It was awesome. One looked like cinnabun and she could climb walls

Speaking of bunny crazy men, I told my boyfriend that Chacha honked at me the other night and came over to kiss me on the face. He said “WHATTTTTT?!! WHY DOESN’T SHE HONK AT ME?!” I told him that she at least kisses you But he said again, “But I want her to honk at me!”

I’ve never heard her honk at anybody else except for me. Maybe it is something between Mama and Bunny

I got all of my homework for the week done yesterday. My gosh it was so much! I’m shooting for Friday this coming week, as the boyfriend’s birthday is Saturday, and I don’t feel like doing anything RELATING to homework. Ick.

I love everyone’s pictures! All these buns are so dang cute! TL- Your condo looks great! LHM-I simply can’t imagine living in a place that has so many interesting creatures! Indiana is pretty boring in that respect (although I do have the cutest family of buns living in my backyard somewhere and they are constantly entertaining me!)

I worked diligently last week and finally finished the new condo for Frank N Beanz. They love it! I will post some pics on here soon (can’t right now, since I’m at work! LOL ) They were in an X-pen that was 6 ft long and 2 ft wide. Now they are in a condo made from NIC cubes that is basically the same dimensions (although 10 inches taller) and they have 3 levels. It sure didn’t take them too long to figure out they love the top level and spend most of their time up there flopping and snoozing. Silly buns!

I am also a long-time horse lover! Had my first when I was 12 and she was pregnant when I got her. Then sold them when I went to college. After I got married, we bought 2 and had them for several years. I still miss riding and always think that I will get another….maybe someday…..

ChaCha: It was awesome! I am so grateful that I have that experience now. Btw that is really funny and kind of cute that your boyfriend wants Chacha to honk at him lol

Got a new job as a cashier! Pay is better and I get more hours  Being 18 really helps get a better job. 

I had to give Strauss dewormer for the first time and he was an angel but I felt so bad for him it smelled and looked like baby ointment. On the back of the package it said “Do not use on horses that are intended for human consumption”  

bunnyfriend: yup, all the dewormers I give my horse say that. It’s very sad but a very real situation in the horse world. The result of the racing industry and over- breeding.

LPT: Agreed. I really like the ex-racehorse adoption programs. The majority of the horses at the stable I go to used to be racehorses (we have a lot of TBs), Strauss being one of them. It’s nice to see those horses really being valued, whether in the show ring or a quiet school horse for little kids or even as a paddock mate

Went to the library today and picked up some strange books. I found one about sociobiology and humans. I was amused by the chapter that gave this long explanation of how sheep want to be at the center of the herd. I just checked it out because it seemed like a strange book to read. I was really looking for stuff on social norms.

Just taking a study break and though I should stop by.

I am in the process of doing work for my Human/Labor Relations class. I like how the questions are ‘Critical Thinking’ and I just inject my opinion and thoughts into the homework, and I get a good grade. The teacher seems to like what I have to bring to the assignments. it is quite time consuming, as I have to do a little researching for articles.

Anyway, it is getting really warm here in Washington. O_O …..

Chacha bun is doing well as usual. She hopped into the hallway and came back running into my room, thumping! She stood next to my door and started thumping! She must have heard something!

LoveChaCha – I like those kinds of assignments. They let you be creative with your answers. I don’t like it when professors expect you to memorize stuff and then that is exactly what you have to write when answering a question.

Wow Mike! Look at that!

Yeah, so I’m a bit upset right now. Actually, I feel like I’m going to be sick. My father-in-law was mad because there were some raccoons eating the corn in their garden. My husband told him to get a trap for them. He got a trap and caught a mother raccoon. There were three babies that were all upset, trying to get to their mother that was inside the trap. Then my father-in-law shot and killed all of them! Oh my gosh, what was the point in getting the trap then? I had thought he would just catch them and take them to a wilderness area to let them go. So senseless. I want to cry.

I’m sorry LBJ. My father got in one of these mood too but as soon as he shot the gun he said it didn’t feel right. They’ve had a bad raccoon problem for years but it’s getting out of control. I had taught my mom the spray bottle trick and that worked but then the raccoons started throwing poop. I told her it’s a con of living next to woods.

Mike, completely retract that statement! Guess you got some gross creepers to balance out the cute. Now that I think of it, I remember you posting a video about a gross snake in your pool. No thanks!

LBJ10- that is so sad. The poor things were just hungry. How can people think that just because it’s an animal, it’s life is worthless? Breaks my heart.

I have no sympathy for racoons. Some of them killed my kitty up in Canada They can be vicious critters, and are NOT scared of humans at all.

i need to start writing again. its now been a year since i picked up the guitar after 7 years off.
and i have ONE new tune (that i didnt totally forget the next day because i forgot to record it).
my stuff isnt really ‘songs, but more like themes, like rpg music. i try to avoid any bluesy or classic rock sound if at all possible.

I am so tired today. I have been dealing with a person that seems to not understand that the world doesn’t revolve around him and his play time and it has made me incredibly cranky.

Today, a former coworker brought her massive husky into the visual resource library. It was so much fun to get to play with her. She is a big fat lazy thing but she still acted goofy for a little bit.

Huck has been super clingy lately. She usually clings to my bf but the last few days she has followed me everywhere, curled up with me on the couch and even let me carry her around like a baby for a while. I am getting worried. She doesn’t seem to be sick or in pain, she is eating and pooping just fine…. maybe she is just feeling lonely with bf being back at work which cuts down on her night time play time.

That really hurt my feelings. A wild animal is a wild animal. They cannot be blamed for being what they are.

It hurt my feeling s when they killed my cat, who didn’t even chase insects.

So… sorry.

Monkeybun – I don’t understand why you are being so mean to me. I didn’t do anything to you.

I’m not being mean, just stating how I feel. It devastated me having my cat killed by something that was previously cute and wonderful. i can never think of them the same way. i’m sorry you had that happen, but I can’t help how I feel about them.

I can understand being upset about what happened. That is a risk you take by letting a cat be outside. Wild animals shouldn’t be blamed though. They are incapable of knowing that what they are doing is “wrong”. All the raccoons saw was a threat, whether your cat was a real threat to them or not. I still don’t agree with what my father-in-law did. Killing a mother raccoon and her babies was completely senseless. I don’t understand why he would do such a thing. It really upset me and even made me feel sick just thinking about it. When you said what you said, it really hurt my feelings. And then it felt like you were being sarcastic with me. If that is not how you meant it, then I am sorry.

The only place my Neko ever went outside was on the porch. She never strayed away from her safe place, it isn’t like she went for a stroll across town

And honestly.. I can blame the racoons all I want. She was a harmless little cat, and was never the aggressor in anything. The racoons killed her, and I hope to hell the city animal control got those little bastards that got her. A wild animal with no fear of humans, and known to be vicious, walking right up onto a persons porch… they need to be taken care of.

Anyway… onto to less cranky subjects… Monkey just flopped next to her water bowl, well.. tried to. Except she missed, and got herself all wet lol.

Hi, everyone. I’m going to step in here and lock this thread for a while until BB takes a look.
In a nutshell, you have touched on some hot buttons for each other and feelings are being hurt, which is against our rules of Playing Nice. I mean the discussion between Monkeybun and LBJ10, although I passed some pix of spiders (?) on my way to this page and wondered if that was the reference about Mike’s posts being a gamble? Anyway, I am asking you to take a Time Out.

The monthly chats have come under scrutiny on occasion due to people getting too strident on topics. It is really, really hard to monitor since it grows to multiple pages very quickly and we only have so much time to monitor the equivalent in posts on the rest of the site. So we rely on you guys to self-monitor and just step off the computer when you are being hurt or angered. I think if each person who states they have been hurt, or felt a remark was mean, deserves an apology, can make an apology in return, and mutually agree to close that discussion. No more “let me repeat what I said because I still think I’m right” kind of replies. That is escalation.

We all know and like each other, so we want everyone to stick around and continue to share thoughts and ideas. Knowing someone has been upset is cause enough to end a discussion, not continue it. Even bunnies give the butt and then walk away. Let’s take a cue from our furbabies and step back, returning when we are ready to offer each other a friendly carrot later. OK? Thanks.

I find BOTH situations (monkeybuns and LBJ10) heartbreaking. I am so incredibly sorry for the pain you both have had to endure.

Communication tips going forward (in chat threads especially)

Being able to sympathize with the pain that someone feels doesn’t obligate you to agree with what they are in pain about. (this goes for BOTH sides). 

Knowing the best time to be focused on a person’s pain, rather than argue a point can do wonders. 

 I know in this situation was a bit more challenging due to the strong emotions of opposite ends of situation, but take the “situation” out of it, and just see the pain of the person—and it may be easier to offer comfort or at walk away if you can’t.  I really like Pam’s quote:  “Even bunnies give the butt and then walk away. Let’s take a cue from our furbabies and step back, returning when we are ready to offer each other a friendly carrot later.”

I’m unlocking the thread now with the hope that moving forward will not be a problem—and so that the chat thread can resume for everyone.

Thanks, BB. I realized that I hadn’t offered any sympathy or comment regarding what you were discussing, but I couldn’t agree more with BB. The situations you both described were awful, and I am sorry.

P.S. @ longhairMike: I’m sorry I didn’t take time earlier to watch your clip, but I just did and you are excellent!!! The more complicated portion of what you played stands alone, but my thought when watching the beginning was that it is a very good piece for a movie soundtrack. I could see it as a theme for an action movie or show. I hope you take that as a compliment.

At this time, I have decided to take a break from BB. Defending my own feelings has become a regular thing on here, and I am not finding the support I need here at BB.

It’s been fun, as you can see from my post count, but for now I need to just walk away.

@MonkeyBun. I can fully sympathize with the pain of both experiences. Your experience with your cat is beyond tragic and terribly heartbreaking regardless if he was an indoor/outdoor cat. I would feel horrible if this had happened to our cat.

I, (and my husband) also would be devastated to witness what LBJ10 had to. What you both have gone through is just awful. Neither of you may be in a place to be able to, or even want to, offer the kind of understanding and support you each need. We will miss you and hope you will return at some point.

@bunnyfriend-I have only ridden for pleasure–trail riding is my favorite. I miss it so much! I have neighbors now that have 3 gorgeous horses in the pasture right next to my backyard. I think I need to become better friends with her! Lol.
@cinnabunsmom-I totally understand how u feel! I just trimmed both my boys’ nails for the first time too and I feel so proud of my accomplishment! I’m proud of them too! They both did pretty well considering they had to felt how nervous I was!
@monkeybun-I will def miss you on here! Many of your posts have helped me out tremendously! Good luck to you and your buns! And I’m so sorry that happened to Neko, I have several cats and I hate to think of something happening to them.
@LBJ-I’m also sorry this happened to u! It breaks my heart when any animal -wild or domestic- meets such an ugly fate! I think we can all agree that we all have a special place in our hearts for the creatures of our world!

Thank you everyone for your kind words about the raccoons. It was very upsetting for me, but I will be fine.

On a lighter note, I just heard back about a project I have been proposing. It seems I can double dip. Do one part for my adviser and another part for a class I will be taking in the fall. That cuts down on my work a little bit. =D

Cinnabun — I am SOOO JEALOUS of you!   My first two rugrats got their nails done when they were neutered and spayed.  My third however came neutered and I’m pretty sure his nails have NEVER been trimmed.  When he walks on our laps, he leaves you with like 18 different scratches just from scampering over your lap.  I attempted to trim his nails before we went on vacation and he bit my finger so hard I’m surprised I didn’t knock him over from the shock of it.  And when he bit, he did NOT let go.  He was not a happy bunny, that’s for sure.  And I was not a happy momma with blood dripping down my finger.  Pretty sure I’m going to have a scar from it.  It’s sooooo stressful.  I tried having the BF feed him cilantro while I tried it and I got like 5 done before he started trying to bite at me again!  He never bit when he first came and now he’s gotten into this biting habit (which needs to stop).  He’s been doing good the past two days since we had a few dominance wars over the biting but I think he’s realizing since he’s been only doing little playful nibbles now and not hard ones.  But goodness does that boy bite when he’s angry.  

Monkeybun — we’re all going to  miss you!  Hope you come back soon.  And sorry about what happened to your cat.    The last time we were at the Emergency Vet Clinic we saw a cat that had been brought it because a wild animal had attacked it and it was just horrible.  

LBJ — I know what you mean.  I grew up on a farm and my stepdad was not very … thoughtful of wild animals either.  It always made me so angry too.  But then again, he’s not very thoughtful of anything or anyone.  (I don’t get along with him or my mom — was raised by my grandparents after I ran away when I was 15).  And so when I got my rabbits and started posting pictures of them on Facebook all of a sudden my sisters posted a pic of a “bunny” my stepdad got them…. I’m pretty sure it’s a wild bunny — here’s a pic of it:  Which is horrifying… to think he caught a wild bunny and then used it as a pet:

What do you guys think?  Domestic or wild?  

Anyways, it drives me insane.  And the bunny eventually died according to their Facebook.  So angry. 

On another better note — I want the lilac Tan my breeder has to use for showing soooooooooooo bad!  Ugh.  I hope he doesn’t make weight and she decides to sell him (since all of ours seem to be on the extra small side).   The BF already agreed to take him if she decided to sell him!

I’m about to go drop off Peppy for boarding…I’m going to miss her so much . She’ll be boarded by the people at the local rabbit rescue, so I know that she’s going to be in good bunny-capable hands, but I know that there’s no way for her to get as much exercise and attention as I usually give her  .

LOL! I took Peppy’s carrier out of the pen and put it beside me, and grabbed a pinch of pellets to lure her…and she thumped at me and ran under the couch. She’s not even scared of the carrier…I leave it in her pen and she naps in it all the time. But somehow, she knows what’s up…

Peppy – That’s funny. Wooly knows what the carrier is and he hates it. The mere sight of it set him off. He will thump and start bouncing off the walls trying to find somewhere to hide.

I decided to visit the BunSpace forums today for the first time — instead of just browsing around the site — and yeah…… I don’t think I can handle the people talking like their rabbits. It’s cute on statuses I suppose but on forums too??? I’m like AHHHH. I’m trying to get past it but not sure if I can. LOL.

Okay, very weird request but it would really help me out. Are your storm drains marked to discourage people from dumping stuff down them? What do they say (specific wording)?

Ours are marked with little icons to show where the drain terminates. In my case the drain adjacent to my home is marked with 4 bright green frog silhouttes which means it terminates at the wetlands end of Lake Joondalup. The lake behind my house. I believe blue fish indicates one of the other lakes, I need to get a copy of the legend for all the symbols so I know what is where.

Peppy- its so hard to leave bunnies! It really makes my trips bittersweet. I’m going away for 4 days in September and am already dreading leaving them. Hubby will take good care of them but they won’t get the attention I give them. I think it’s just the feeling of being so far from them that gets me. Safe travels to you.

Thank you Roberta! So is the frog you see in the first and second pictures the actual frogs on the storm drains? Or is that like a door hanger that was placed in everyone’s front doors? The picture of the storm drain is from far away, so it looks like there isn’t anything written on those frogs. Are people just supposed to see the frogs and know what it means?

The big frog is like a post card we all got in our mail boxes. The little frogs are bright green and stencilled in sets of 3 or 4 across the drain opening. Originally it was supposed to be blue fish but when they brought the local children in to help they decided to change the icons. It happened a few years ago so it took me a while to dig out the sundry and related bits.

Ohhhhh heyyyyyy….. I got all of my assignments done for the week! Woot!

My dad made me a drink with my new vodka purchase: Three Olives Chocolate Vodka! When I opened the bottle, I inhaled the vodka and I wanted to die happily! IT SMELLS JuST LIKE CHOCOLATE!! ! I think I died a little inside! So, my dad mixed it with Whipped Vodka, a dash of milk (he told me to use my chocolate almond milk next time, heh heh heh), some kahula flavoring and ice cubes. He tossed it into the blender, and the drink got light, fluffy, and sweet! O__O!

Tomorrow is my boyfriend’s birthday. I’m not sure what is going on! I’m happy to be off of work to do nothing

It is in the pretty parts but mostly it is just like any normal place but cold and damp haha! I suppose for a holiday it could be quite nice, but having to deal with a seasonal system that is three parts winter and one part some failed attempt at summer is quite depressing haha!

Today my sister’s friend came over today who has a rabbit, my sister told me that he keeps Peanut in one those small pet store cages. He saw my rabbits and said “What? You let them run around? I would never trust Peanut outside his cage!” in an appalled tone. I just played dumb and said “You keep your rabbit in a cage? Oh, I didn’t know people still did that..Huh!”. We also found out a while ago that he saw Wilbur at the humane society and was going to try to adopt her but the next time he came back she was gone. When he saw her he said “Oh yeah!!! That’s was the bunny I was going to adopt!”. I’m so glad she came home with me

His birthday isn’t until the 30th though but some of his friends from Boston and a couple hours away managed to come out this weekend all together so we celebrated it! We went to this restaurant called Del’s which I’ve wanted to go to foreverrrrr. It was on the show Restaurant Impossible, not sure if anyone ever watches that show but Robert Irvine redoes the restaurant and kind of helps them try and get it back on track (they are always going downhill and on the verge of closing). I’m a total Food Network nerd. My boyfriend loves to cook and his friend just finished culinary school in Boston sooo he loves being all hoity-toity about it. Hahah.

Anyways, the breeder I got my tans from is having another litter of tans in about 2 months. BLAH. I’m probably going to want them all. It’s a real problem. So went shopping the other day and boyfriend saw a cat tree on sale… so we bought it. The bunnies have been taking out their destructive habits on it since. lol The floor is (or should I say was) lined with fleece, Stickers decided it is her personal mission to remove the fleece lining by digging it up before the cat tree is suitable.

He is beautiful, I saw the picture you posted of him on another thread (I swear I’m no bunny stalker lol!) How is taking care of 3 bunnies? I have read a few posts where some have as much as 10, its such a cute idea imagining how they play together but it seems like it’d be so hectic! 

They sure do sooo many cute things, its like an overload! I wish I could have a camera with me at all times to capture the cute moments lol. That’s actually the same thought I had- they’re the Dobermans of the bunny world lol I don’t think your buns are common because your’s are the only ones I’ve seen here that look like that. (My Holland lop is one of the 100’s on the forum ;p)

@Stickerbunny: Awh I didn’t know they would like to play with cat trees! Is it high? Have any pictures? I would love to see how they play with cat trees, it sounds too adorable!

@LBJ10 I’m in Alberta and we have little yellow fish on our storm drains. I used to be in Girl Guides and we were awarded a badge for going around and painting the fish during the summer. I don’t see them as frequently as I used to but I think it’s still done.

Our breeder wrote me on thursday that she bred two of her does, they are due on the 13th of August. I can’t wait!!

I have a ton of homework this coming week, due to the 8 week quarter. So I have to read 3 chapters in 3 of my classes, lol. He said next quarter it will be a week and a half for ONE CHAPTER. Mygosh I can’t wait until break! Back to 11 week quarters!

Taking care of 3 bunnies is really not that bad at all! The only time it was hectic was when we had all 3 of them in separate cages until they could be neutered/spayed. Cleaning out 3 cages and giving them all sufficient playtime (not together) was really really exhausting but now that they’re all together and bonded it’s WAY easier. I really love having 3 though! They are so cute to watch play together and it’s nice that if I don’t have a lot of time to play with them one day then I can let them all out to play together and they keep each other busy. Our girl was EXTREMELY skittish when we got here and since she’s been with the boys she’s actually opened up a WHOLE lot. She’ll take craisins out of my mouth and come up and sit on your lap now for a few seconds — still isnt a bunny that likes to be pet though which is funny because her brothers lap up their attention!

That’s very weird that the female is so skittish and the males aren’t. I would think they would have similar personalities (in the sense of tolerance at least) since they come from the same litter. I wonder if its because you got her later? 

My sister also has her own rabbit in her room and its so sad having mine and hers separated (cannot wait until they both get fixed, its only a month until mine finally goes in!) so I know exactly what you mean about how crazy it can be pre-surgery. After reading your post, I cant wait to have mine and hers play together (assuming they actually bond). 

N that’s too adorable that she actually takes raisins out of our mouth!! Ahh that’s a cuteness overload lolol ♥

Priscillababy — It’s actually really insane how different their personalities all are. We actually got the girl in the middle of the other two and it’s really baffled me how skittish she is. Our first boy, Fleury, was nervous for like 2 days and then after that he started climbing on us and loving to be pet and within a week he’d plop down next to you after playing but always LOVED climbing in our laps as long as you didn’t put him there. The girl was SOO different when we got her. She never really came out of her shell. Then we got the 2nd boy and he was affectionate right from the start. He’s actually our most affectionate bun and our most hyper. He jumped up on the couch with me when he had been at our house for not even a half hour and whereas the first two were terrified coming home in the carrier he spent the whole time playing with the blanket we put in there. He isn’t scared of anyone or anything really. It’s adorable. The day we got the girl spayed she came around really quickly and was eating and playing half a day later and that’s when she started to let us pet her. And then once we put her in with the boys she started climbing on us little by little. It always made me feel horrible because she was so jumpy but she’s always binkyed and everything else and will plop her limbs down all relaxed so I know she’s a happy bun just really REALLY likes her space.

It’s nice having buns with such different personalities though! And they’re all adorable and lovable in their own little ways.

On a side note: She’s totally like that even when meeting others buns. When she met them both she was anti-social and wouldn’t let them come near here without thumping. Funny story… when she first met the 2nd boy — she acted like she hated his guts. But then after a couple hours of bonding she would follow him around sniffing him and then he’d turn around to look at her and she’d thumped like a maniac at him and turn her back. So he’d give up and walk away some wheres else and then she’d do the same thing all over again! She’d follow and sniff then he’d turn around and she’d thump the biggest thump I’ve ever heard in my life! It was seriously the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. She did this to the poor guy for like a complete hour non-stop before she FINALLY cuddled up next to him in a litter box. And they’ve been friends ever since!

Tomorrow is going to SUCK — especially for my bun babies. Ugh, we have maintenance coming to change all the AC vents (which are in the living room and the bedroom) and of course, we have to hide the bunnies. We had thought before we got them that if they ever came to check anything we could put them in the bathroom or bedroom…. well, seems as though this time they’ve decided to check all the water things too – the faucets and the bathtubs and well basically everything. So unfortunately, my buns have to go in the closet for a good 15 minutes. I’m putting them all (3) in a small cage, I feel like a huge jerk, and putting them with no toys or anything because I’m terrified they’ll make a noise by throwing something around. My boyfriend has of course left this task for me so I had to take the day off from work and everything. I swear I’m going to turn on every TV in our house and make all the noise I can find to make while they’re here so if the buns make even a peep hopefully it’ll be covered up by me.

It’s soooo dumb too. We live in a condo complex (my boyfriend OWNS our condo) but we still have to hide our pets because the Condo Committee will fine you if they find you with a pet…you can’t even own a gerbil or hamster here! So redicccc. You think if you owned a place you’d be able to have whatever you want!

I’ve gotten a lot of work done for classes, and I’m just stressing out over finding 40 people to do blood pressure on. It is such a pain, plus my teacher for the class throws on us this 50 page Electronic Health Record (which I am done with) to complete and print, oral reports, quizzes, lots of homework.

I sure hope that I can find at least 20 people. I really don’t have much time to find people

LBJ, I have gotten some people at work, and will continue carrying my backpack with me with my supplies. It is just really rough because we all have breaks at different times. I cannot do classmates.. I wish! AHAHA! I have a friend on FB that just offered me to come to her job, which is a day care, and get blood pressure of children there. She said that there will be a dozen of them around and she’ll get back to me on Thursday

TanLover- Do you have to be there when the maintenance ppl come? If not, you could do what we did and take bunjamin for a ride. He went over to Andy’s aunts house and sat in the air-conditioning. Then we covered up his cage with sheets and dirty clothes (my moms idea) I told them it was a big box of garage sale stuff and they never questioned it!

So I’d have to go somewhere where I could be all day with them which would probably stress them out even more. Yes, i know I said I was leaving BB for a bit.. but I need the bunnies right now. My great aunt died today. Me and my sister grew up spending a bunch of time with her, as she was our favorite grandma’s sister, and lived in teh same city we did. Wonderful woman. Her death was very unexpected… Some of you know the problems my Grandma has been having, and she lived with my great aunt. So I suspect my Grandma won’t do well at all with this Her heart can’t take much more.

I’m dying on the inside right now — they are scheduled to start their work at 9:30, 7 doors away, and work their way down. It’s 9:26. And I’m terrrrified the buns are going to make noise. They’ve been so quiet all morning so all I can imagine is that as soon as he comes their going to be noisy. I don’t even know what I would do if one of them started shaking the cage to come out or something. I wouldn’t even know how to cover up a noise like that. UGH.

I did both TVs (one of which is on one side of the closet) and the bathroom fan (which is on the other side). I’m such a paranoid bunny momma. My BF just told me since we own the place, even if they hear a noise they can’t just go in the closet. Since it’s owned they have to stay with what they’re doing. The most they could do is tell someone and they come and fine us. So I guess that makes it better — it’ll just be harder to hide them when people are actually looking for them. I know we’re not the only ones with animals though, soooo… whatevs. My poor buns. Little guys are going to get so spoiled today. They look all confused at why they’re sitting in the closet, LOL.

I am dog sitting this week (or rather, the next 10 days) for one of my professors. It’s going pretty well so far, but it’s only the first day. They are currently totally worn out from our walk to the dog park. They are pretty good dogs! One is super sweet and calm, the other is very hyper but still very lovable. The only down side to it is that it takes me away from my Hucklebun. She has bf there though to play with and take good care of her. He knows the drill and will be there during the morning when she is active, and asleep when she is since he works nights. She has grown pretty used to sleeping near me on the floor but I don’t think it will upset her too much. I am happy to be getting a little extra money and to be helping out my prof though! Plus, the two walks a day are going to do wonders for my lack of motivation to do any physical activity!
Any dog sitting tips?

I just finished 90% of my homework for the week I’m watching the boyfriend play Skyrim. I know that if I were to take the controller from him, I would not stop playing!

This week Sunday will be the Ovarian Cancer walk in Seattle. The boyfriend will be joining me this time I’m so happy to have someone come with me this time! I will definitely need to have some coffee, since the walkers have to be at the hospital at 7 am o_O;

Just to update you guys a little better. My dad bought a house. We take posession August 14th and I’m talking my dad into us moving that weekend so I have at least a week before school starts.

My bead business is really taking off. The Etsy store gets customers here and there but I started using a live auction site that is really big with crafters and I’m finally selling and I can officially say the business is out of debt and in the profit range.

FrankieFlash: That’s awesome news! About both the house and that the bead business is working out!!! You definitely deserve it

Yeah, I’m going to miss her.

On the bright side, though, my Grandma will be moving back to Vancouver. Much easier drive to visit her. 23 hours to where she currently is can be a bit harsh… but Vancouver is tons closer

Cinnabun — Everything went well! I felt so bad though, they didn’t come until around 1pm so I had the poor little guys in a small cage in the closet (with the door open, obviously!) until they came so from 8:30-1. I felt like the worst bunny momma ever and of course, right before they came Fleury started banging on the cage so I was like oh goodness. They’re definitely going to come now. Since they had been really good and quiet all morning. I gave them all a craisin and they settled down and went back to sleep and thank God then he came! Didn’t even hear a peep out of any of them. I was so proud of them! Needless to say, I felt so terrible they had free-roam of the house for the rest of the day while I reassembled their condo and play area. They loved it. By the time I had everything ready for them to go back though they were banging on the door waiting to get into the condo. It was so cute. By the time my BF got home at 7 they were all so tuckered out they wouldn’t even come back out to play. Adorable and so happy it went so well! Thanks for asking!

Good luck with the walk, ChaCha. I’ve been trying to muster up enough energy to train/do a half-marathon for a cause. But I’ll always get into hardcore running for like a month and then slack off for a few weeks then do good for a month then slack off for a few weeks. My brothers fiance is running the NYC Marathon this year and I’m soooo jealous. The most I’ve been able to run is 9 miles without stopping — so 13 isn’t too far off for a half-marathon but 26 for the NYC one… I could only pray to finish without ending up in the hospital, lol.

My BF owned a political consulting business up until January and he loved being able to work his own hours and everything but I’m so happy now that he has a normal marketing job where he works normal hours and finally got out of politics since ALL of our friends were into politics and he didn’t like me working in politics because I was so controversial, hahah. Of course. I stopped politics when I met him and moved to Pittsburgh. I definitely don’t miss it as much as I thought I would though.

Dog-sitting! I had to dog-sit for my brothers Maltese one time when he was out of town for the weekend. They left me $20 to take the dog out to eat, LOL. So we went through a drive-thru and of course, the person in the window was like “YOUR DOG IS SOOOO ADORABLE!” and Tyler, the dog, looked over and practically jumped into the window barking while I’m fumbling to grab him from biting off this poor girls face. Awkward moment. Are they little or big dogs??? My brothers dogs favorite treat was carrots — soo I made him love me by giving him carrots all day long! LOL. I’ve heard small dogs love carrots. His dog went nuts over them. You could just say carrot and he’d run to the fridge and hop around on his back feet until you came and got him one.

tanlover – It’s funny you said that the dog wanted to attack the drive-thru girl. I thought you were going to say the girl recognized the dog or something. LOL
Our dog knows exactly what the drive-thru is. They have given her stuff at McDonalds before. Dairy Queen offered her a “pup cup”. Even the bank has dog treats they will send out, so she would always get excited when we would pull into the bank.

Hahahahaha. Yeah, this dog is fairly crazy. When my brother brought him back the first year for Christmas — he lives in Southampton, Long Island and we lived in Western NY and they managed to bring him on the 9-hour car ride to visit for Christmas and the first thing he did was drag my then year old cousin around by his diaper. Thankfully only my brothers and I saw it and herded the dog away, LOLOL.

Hahhahaha, this happens to me a lot. The buns will have eaten through their special cardboard boxes or cottontail cottage and I won’t have the heart to take it away for a while, and when I finally do I feel super guilty.

Tanlover, that is hilarious! They are smaller dogs. One is looks like a lhaso apso and the other is a jack russel mix, I think.

The dog sitting is going pretty well. It is fun to come home and play with them.

Oh dear, I need to write a cover letter. I have other ones that I have written, but this job is a little different. Basically they want someone to help in the office with filing, organizing, answer phones, etc. However, this is a place that is right in line with my field. So a foot in the door could mean other things down the line. What to put in the letter though? This is really hard.

Aw man, I’m beat from my first day back at work. I got through 1/4 of the chapter on Pediatrics. From what I’m reading, if I were to work in Pediatrics (I really don’t want to unless there is a job being offered to me), I would really have to know my stuff and it makes me nervous. Ack. O_o I know that I would be trained to what the clinic needs me to do, but I get a big nervous *throws nervousness over my shoulder*

Did you guys hear about the shooting in Colorado at the Dark Knight Rises premiere? That really scares me, it seems like you can be anywhere and some psycho might decide that is the place they are just going to open fire on a group on innocent people. =\

Yes LBJ- that’s so sad. And the scary thing is me and Andy almost went there when we were in Denver in May. We chose the closer more expensive theater instead. I need to call my uncle and check on him. I doubt he was there but I should still check.

I’ve exhausted. I’m up at my parents since wednesday, pet-sitting 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 birds. While trying to take care of Bunjamin and run this business too. I’ve worked 14 hours straight the last two days. :/ Tonight I’m calling it early on the bead business to go sit with a family friend with dimensia while her family goes to a tigers game. Don’t get me wrong, I like earning money but I’m also feeling the need for a break.

It reminds me of a shooting that happened at a local mall. This kid went up the elevator in a department store and came out shooting when he got to the top floor. I just don’t understand how someone could do something like that.

Agh, I still can’t figure out what to write in this cover letter. I mean, is it appropriate to talk about my field-related accomplishments when that isn’t what the job duties would initially be?

Frankie! I feel your pain! My two jobs line up so that I work Mon-Fri, 9-5… sat 10pm -7am. Now toss in dog sitting and the weekly trip to the other side of town to make dinner for my family and taking care of my own home and I am pooped! Now, to add to the stress, the financial aid dept keeps sending me emails that say “you may be ineligible for aid” which would mean there would be no way for me to go to school this semester…. Hopefully it turns out to be no big deal but I wish they would stop sending emails that are giving me ulcers!!!

UGH — it all really is horrible. We had this shooting at one of our hospitals here — a psych hospital and then the college right down the road from us, Pitt, (the place I work is right on campus) started getting bomb threats for weeks. And they would come in every day and they could never seem to catch the person. So many classes were cancelled that most teachers couldn’t even have finals. It was terrible and really sucks for the people who are there to get an education but scary at the same time because it happened right after the shooting. And then at another hospital in NY — when I was in school — the hospital I always went to had a shooting and one of my really good friends moms boyfriend died in it. It was so sad. The killer shot some lady he didn’t like because of a bad relationship (they worked at the same hospital) and then killed the guy standing next to her which happened to be the boyfriend of my friends mom. He then went to the house of the chief and killed her entire family execution style and her. It’s so insanely scary how many psychos are out there! Ugh, makes my skin crawl.

On a funnier note — one of my friends told me his room mates mom is an exotic animal vet/emergency vet and she told him rabbit people are the weirdest people about their animals ever! As in they become obsessed. I couldn’t help but burst out laughing and look around innocently…

I don’t understand what makes people go crazy and want to shoot up a place! It’s really scary and Tan- that’s terrible about what happened in NY!
But I must say, don’t ever let these tragic stories keep you from doing what you want. If you stop going places, it just makes people like that win and who’s to say any place is 100% safe anyway 😮

Well anyway…I’m giving my bunny and parrot some mommy time right now and to keep my parrot from getting too loud/whining, I started reading aloud a few of the latest posts in this thread right next to him as if reading to a kid. He started shuffling from one side of his perch to the other babbling trying to copy what I was saying xD

I agree with Mimzy. You can’t let a few crazy people make you paranoid. Malls, schools, movie theaters and other places like that are usually very safe. They only become dangerous when a crazy person decides to do something unthinkable.

Here in Colorado, everyone seems to be really paranoid right now. I saw 8 police cars (2 within a half mile of our house) just while we ran some errands around town, which is very unusual. Even in the grocery store, a lot of people seemed suspicious and fearful.

My mother actually found out about the shootings from a Facebook post. She checked Facebook right after waking up and the first thing she read was, “our prayers go out to the victims of last night’s terrible tragedy”. That’s better than coffee for waking you up in the morning. 

that’s one thing ill never get used to in AZ (with bad drivers being a close 2nd).. everyone is obsessed with guns here…

My dad has been obsessed with guns lately I think just because he feels an extra security just in case. But he just likes to go to shooting ranges, that sort of thing. I just have a bow and arrow and shoot a paper target in my backyard Just think it’s kinda fun and relaxing but I don’t intend to ever actually have to use it.

I went to AZ for just a week once, was really nice there! I liked the weather, had lots of fun there Don’t think I could ever move that far from Tx though 😮 Texas weather isn’t very nice =/

Sigh, the whole shooting Colorado is sad. The comedian Craig Ferguson actually filmed something before the start of his show tonight and told him that the victims have his condolences. Such a good man

Did you know in Japan that guns are outlawed? Also, not to be political, but other countries have tighter gun laws, so I have no idea why some people in the states complain -_-;; (as its in the constitution and such to be able to bear arms)  I totally understand wanting to have a gun in the house in case a person breaks in.

tanlover, we bunny parents tend to be crazy because we love our bunnies nobody understand unless they have a bunny! Also, advocating for them makes us crazy rabbit ladies.. oh dear.

Yes, I was very sad also to hear about those deaths in Colorado. How sad, those peolple were just minding their own business. The least the guy could have done was off himself afterwards. When I hear about stuff like this, Im very happy to live in Canada where people that own guns are few and far between. Most robberies that I hear of in my province are done with a fake gun or a knife. Still awful but we dont have high crime rates.

Still looking forward to seeing the Batman movie on Sunday though. My hubby is a huge Batman fan and I think Christian Slaters Batman voice is pretty hot so well both be happy.

ChaCha, I knowwww.  All my friends think I’m a crazy bunny lady now to.  Everyone says I’m like the cat lady — but with rabbits.   And it’s so true.  But they’re so fragile and cute!  You can’t help but be protective and love themmmmmm.

I’m a HUGE gun person!  I love guns.  I’m a huge fan of the saying “Guns don’t kill people – people kill people.”  I’m a Republican though, so what can I say?  It’s to be expected.    I’m going on Wednesday to my boyfriends bosses house.  She invited everyone over to shoot and pick berries in their orchard out back and for drinks later!  It should be really fun!  Mega-excited.  

My little bunny brats are so calm this morning.  I think I tuckered them out last night keeping them up so late!  I love waking up to these little faces though.  ;*

Awww – I had pet ducks when we were younger! They were gorgeous and when they were babies they were irrestistibly adorable. I couldn’t get enough of them. And shockingly friendly and social.

I’m taking a break from scrambling around my room, looking for things that I need for the Ovarian Cancer run tomorrow! I already know that I’m going to get emotional .. I was looking a certain bag that won’t restrict me from walking, and I found this photo of my mom and I, back when I was a teen:

I couldn’t stand how cute the baby duck was either! ^-^ I was actually working downtown in my area during a little festival thing, and I saw a kid chasing something by a tree. He picked it up and handed it back to the lady who’s hands it got free from and her husband wasn’t too thrilled about it. So I saw it was a duck and couldn’t resist! Her husband said “Theres another taker, just give the girl the duck” so she just handed it to me and left O_o she said they found it wandering alone, poor thing. So I kept it for a day and had a tiny cage for it during the night but in the day, I let it roam around my room. Gosh they are little mischievous things though! Had to temporarily “duck proof.” Took it to the wildlife rescue in the morning though, ooh I miss him!

quick question! I didn’t want to start a new thread for a simple question so…I let my bunny free roam for a bit during the day while I’m home and occasionally if I stand by my bed, she will come and lay directly on my feet between me and the bed. Is there any reason she does this? Is it a form of bunny love? or dominance? Or is it just nothing? hehe

Well, Bunnyfriend  I had a cat would do backflips.  Too bad I couldnt get it on camera.

Cotton hasn’t done any backflips.   My cat would be playing with the fishing thing the plastic little pole with a bunch of shiny wiggly noisy things.   She would leap to the couch and backflip as I pass it over her.   So funny.

So whats going on in my life:?   I joined the ceramic club here we have our own kiln  and molds.  I found some really neat bunnies to do.  They are standing some are boys some are girls.  They are supposed to be holding hands.  When I get finished they will.   They have faces on both sides. 

I painted a bunch of bunnies already.  One to mimic cotton and it came out excellent.   

Hubby said please no more rabbits we got enuf   rofl. 

True they have taken up all the room on the tv holder on the top shelf with glass door.  lol  

It would be nice if I could put the holding paws ones around a plant outside.  I don’t trust the neighbors.  They might get broken out there when someone clears out the weeds.  Downstairs is the only place I really have for them.  I got to get pics for y’all to see

I’m running on edge right now. I was told last week my great uncle was diagnosed some time ago with AMS (a rare type of leukemia). And I was just told he went into the Hospice program and has decided to stop getting transfusions. He’s not a candidate for chemo either. My mom’s hoping he’ll be open to us visiting. I’m not as close to him as I was to my aunt who died last Nov. of cancer but I still am mad that cancer is going to take another great member of my family.

I’m trying to distract myself from this by planning all that I’m going to do for Bunjamin tomorrow for his first birthday.

ChaCha: How’d the run go? I’m so proud of you and I know your mom would be too. What an awesome way to pay tribute to her memory! Hope it went well!

FF: so sorry to hear that! Cancer is so rampant and it affects everyone doesn’t it? My dad had prostate cancer, had treatment and is doing well now. My grandparents both died of cancer. It’s just everywhere. One of my best friends is fighting breast cancer right now, and my cousin died from Multiple Myeloma. It’s so awful. I just can’t wait until we finally have the scientific breakthrough we need to hopefully get this under control. Will be praying for you and your family!

Bunnytowne, You HAVE to post pics of your ceramics! I took a class last semester and… well, ceramics weren’t for me, but I LOVE ceramic stuff and of course, anything bunny! We all end up with way too much bunny stuff, don’t we lol. I have a few stuffed finger puppet buns, a pot hanger bunny, and 4 ceramic buns that a fellow student made last year.

Frankie! I am so sorry! I hope that… well, things go as smoothly as possible and that you all have many tender and happy moments together.

Bad news is all over the place this week, I guess. My mom came back from the dr on Friday with the news that she was misdiagnosed 10 yrs ago. The previous dr said she had fibromyalgia and just loaded her up with codeine and eventually morphine for pain and washed her hands of my mom. Finally, my mom found a new dr about a year ago. This guy has been an angel. He is ferociously trying to cure her. He realized though that her symptoms were linked to hormonal patterns, not simply just an ongoing pain. He says she has Cushing’s syndrome and a possible tumor in her brain. I got that information right after an email that cancelled over half of my expected financial assistance for college. Hopefully everything will all work out. The doctor said that my mom’s condition is most likely very treatable and BF worked out that I can still afford to finish my education on the remaining loans I can still take out…. ugh, it’s just been a stressful weekend. To top it all off, I sprained my ankle last night so now I can’t walk, which would be no big deal if I weren’t dog sitting which requires taking them on walks.
I think a Monday Morning Happy is in order this week, for all the BBers, 😉

Huckleberry that’s great that she’s finally got a diagnosis and it’s treatable. I can empathize though since a lot of the hormonal/auto-immune diseases get mixed up a lot. I’m sorry to hear about your financial aid. Seems like a lot of people’s are being reduced. What’s up with that? Geezsh government, get it together!

Frankie, thanks! Yeah, it is great news that my mom might finally be cured. It is hard to stomach that it could have happened 10 yrs ago though. Oh well, such is life. As for the financial aid, something was signed into effect last year that limits the pell grant to 6 semesters. I guess, if I really think about it, I should have been done with school about 3 yrs ago but I had a very hard time figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up. It seemed like so much pressure. When I finally met someone that said “Who said you have to be the same all your life” a lightbulb turned on and I finally relaxed and settled into a career path. So, I can’t be upset with the politics involved in that decision, even if did feel like a rug pulled out from under me.

I have been taking the dogs I am watching to the dog park every day. Though I know this would never work due to the nature of bunnies, wouldn’t it be loverly if there was a bunny park and all the bunnies could go binky together?! Just picture that for a minute…. take out the reality that bunnies are territorial and kind of jerks (at least mine is) and imagine them having fun with all their friends. *Sigh*

You can only get a Pell grant for 6 semesters now? That doesn’t make sense, a 4 year degree would be 8 semesters.

Phew, don’t scare me like that! Not like I can get grants anymore since I’m a grad student. LOL

LOL SORRY!!!!! I was getting emails from the FAFSA site all week about how I had exceeded this limit and that limit and this amount of funding might be cancelled and I might be ineligible for that kind of funding. By this morning, when I finally got things straightened out once and for all (I hope!!!) I think my nervous twitch that I have had for the last few months grew it’s own new nervous twitch.

The walk went well, and I was very tired after the walk! I’m glad that I had my boyfriend with me, because I started to get emotional when we got the race. The sponsors were handing out teal shoe laces, so I changed my shoe laces to teal, and I intend to keep it that way

My Clinical Procedure teacher threw an oral report/project on us students. We got to choose our subject and I had to get paired up with someone. I wanted to do the project alone, however my partner is really on top of things, and busy as well. Does that make any sense? LOL! The topic that we chose is: Hospice and Palliative Care. Her father is in end stage renal disease, and I lost my mom back in 2009. She currently has a Palliative care nurse at her house watching her dad, and my mom was in Hospice. It was meant to be. The topic is hard for me to do, but I am very knowledgeable about the topic, so it should go pretty well. My partner is researching Palliative Care, and I’m doing Hospice. She told me that we should start off with me telling my Mother’s experience in Hospice to get the classmates hooked, and we will each talk about our topic, and how much Palliative Care and Hospice has changed, and how much better it has come to be! I’m meeting my classmate after class on Wednesday, and we are going to spend a little time on the power point presentation.

I’m so glad that I’m not working many hours this week I need the time for the project!

Random side note: I realised Belle had stood in some of her cecals (i think that’s what they’re called) and they are stuck to her back foot. I managed to get a few off but I wanted to make sure so I tried to pick her up to have a better look. I now have two pretty deep gashes in the palm of my hand from when she wriggled away I wish my bunny tolerated being picked up.

Chacha, hospice and palliative care is a really interesting subject. One of my mentors here works in pediatric hospice..I can’t imagine dealing with that every day. My school has a student organization calls No One Dies Alone where we take shifts sitting beside end-of-life patients who have no known next of kin, so that they aren’t alone when they pass…most of them are unresponsive at that point but it’s a nice thing to do.

ANYWAYS, that was sort of depressing heh. Just got back from a great trip to NYC with a couple of friends…my last summer vacation trip ever! Peppy was so happy when I picked her up from boarding and brought her back…she did so many binkies and zoomies yesterday it made me happy too just to watch .

I go home every morning for an hour between dog sitting and work but Huck just gives me bunny butt. BF tells me the minute I leave she binkies and zooms. I hope she doesn’t think she won the twisted battle we have over our man. She thinks she owns him and I am his distraction from her.

Work is finally getting better. I am beginning to adjust to having a boss there again. It was a strange adjustment, going from running the office on my own to having a boss again. It’s not easy to slip into the employee role again, especially since I am a bit of a tyrant.

OH, Cinnabun, I hope you don’t poison your friend. How hard is it to make custard? I’ve never tried but I love the stuff!

Easy Stirred Custard Recipe 1 cup milk, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon sugar, 4 drops vanilla essence and some nutmeg for sprinkling.
Warm milk in a double sauce pan or stand it in a jug in a pot of water. Do not bring to boil
beat egg and sugar together until thick, add warm milk.
Return to double boiler (or jug in saucepan)
Stir with a wooden spoon till the custard coats the spoon. Do not allow to overheat or it will curdle.
Add Vanilla and allow to cool.
Place in serving dishes and sprinkle nutmeg on top or pour over pudding.
I also have the recipe for a very good baked custard that you can use for custard tarts etc.

Good luck with your project, ChaCha. All of this sounds so depressing. I don’t think I have it in me to get into the medical field besides doing Finance/Accounting for the hospitals/doctors offices (which is what I hope to do).

Just had to switch my buns veggies — I gave them kale and introduced them to collard greens last week — but every time I gave them their veggies they would all pick the kale out and then leave the collards and would leave them for like an hour and then would finally eat them. So today I picked up some dandelion leaves to try with their kale. They seemed to have gulped the small amount I put in with their kale right down but who knows with them! They’re sooo picky! I tried switching them to oat hay/orchard grass since my BF has been having an allergic reaction to their timothy whenever he uses it and it looks like it’s most def going to be orchard — they REFUSE to eat the oat. I don’t know what it is with them… it’s like they ALL choose to not eat things together… none of them will eat it. Such spoiled brats!

Ughh — soo exhausted. Worked a double shift on Monday and I still feel tired from it. I went to the doctors on Monday also and they up’ed my dosage of my medicine so hopefully it will help with all the throwing up! I’ve gained two pounds though so my doctor was really happy and it leads him to believe that the medicine was working just not enough because I was only being given a half of a dose. The diagnosis is so weird. It’s a gut dysfunction. With the nerves in my stomach. But they don’t have any way of diagnosing it. They just assume it’s that if the medicine helps it. If not — then it’s back to square one of having no clue. Blah.

TL- their taste buds will probably keep changing too. Just to keep you on your toes.

My little bro just got back Tokyo in Tulsa. It’s a huge anime/sci fi convention they hold every year. He loves it! He made a huge Deadmau5 hat that lit up. I love it too, mostly bc he brings me stuff! This year, I got a t-shirt with a dalek and a cyberman fighting like they are Rock ’em, Sock ’em robots. Pretty sweet!!!!

That custard recipe looks amazing, gonna have to try that soon!

LBJ10: Oh no I hope it’s not something bad!

I could really use some advice right now! I got a job as a cashier at a grocery store. I was officially “hired” a couple weeks back and they said they would call me in for orientation. They called me on Sunday and for an orientation on Monday, when I went to orientation they asked my to come in on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm for some training on a computer. Well yesterday they actually kept me until 5:30 with only a 10 minute break around 3:30. They then told me I’d start training Wednesday (today) at 8:00 am and they gave me a uniform guideline and said I’d have to get the uniform for today. The person who hired me told me that this week I would be shadowing as a bagger and that next week someone would be watching me cashier. Well today I did 2 hours of bagging for my trainer and then they sent her on break, for the rest of my shift they put me at a register all by myself without even a bagger. I know how to scan items but that’s pretty much it, I haven’t been shown how to do WIC transactions or how to do a price check or how to deal with special coupons, ect. So of course when those of things came up I had no idea what to do and there was no one around for me to ask. I’m not really sure if this is normal or not, I just feel so bad about today, I was so slow and a couple costumers left my line. They haven’t even introduced or told me who my supervisor is! I had to ask another cashier how to do things and I could tell she was annoyed, but I didn’t know what else to do. I am desperately trying to memorize PLU codes tonight but that won’t help me with those other things. I know I have to tough it out and stuff but I’m not sure if this is okay treatment? I’m going in tomorrow again, and I could use any advice from anyone about this. I just felt so helpless and I’ve been feeling crummy all day 

Aww, bunnyfriend, I’m sorry that happened. At my retail job, that was a common occurrence. They would hire a new person and just throw them out on the floor. It can be so overwhelming, especially if you have never used a cash register before. Resources and staffing were stretched thin and there really wasn’t anything a person could do but bug another associate. That sometimes even meant someone from another department. I remember several occasions where I had to leave my department to go help a new person in another area because they got a customer that wanted them to do something complicated. Don’t feel bad. This stuff happens. If that other girl was annoyed, then she shouldn’t have been annoyed with you but the people in charge who didn’t support you properly on your first day. You got off to a rough start, but things will get better. I know it’s hard, especially when you don’t have experience dealing with customers. Is this your first job?

Oh bunnyfriend, I wish it weren’t true but I think it’s a pretty common experience. I once had a job as a maintenance associate. They gave me 3 hrs of training, 45 min practice driving a zambony floor cleaner that didn’t work right so I had to memorize tricks to get it to work, and then I spent the rest of my first day sweeping. The next day, my fellow maintenance worker had quit, leaving me to clean the whole store by myself. My boss was not compassionate about it either, and that store was not small!!!

@Isabella : yes. It’s probably going to be horrific and disgusting, but I can’t wait!

Although, if you leave the sugar and vanilla out of the custard and add some butter it will be more like a bearnaise sauce which would taste fine with the fish fingers.

Bunnyfriend- You did the right thing. Retail is like this. I worked retail as a cashier at toysrus and they had me training people when I was only 2 weeks on the job. You could try talking to the person who keeps calling you to schedule if you still need more help. Our HR person at ToyRus was awesome! But our supervisors… :/

Awwww, BunnyFriend! That’s a horrible experience but not shocking. I worked at Subway when I first started college and after 2 days of training I was left to close the store by myself … 7-11 alone and then the time after to close. Lets just say — I made a few customers not very happy when I had no idea how to fix the register when I typed in the wrong info and what not. Frustrating but just think of it as a reason to push yourself now quickly so you’ll be able to do everything on your own without help. And then when someone new comes along — you can befriend them and be the nice person who actually helped without getting annoyed and angry!

So last night I got toshoot a gun for the very first time!  It was surprisingly scary but LOTS of fun!  We did it on my BF’s bosses land, they had a ton of targets and stuff put up — her husband was in the Marines as a sharpshooter!  Which is soooooo cool in my opinion.  But I was SOOOO proud of myself for even picking up the gun, much less shooting!  Here’s some photos!

I’ve always wanted to do shooting competitions — they seem so intense and fun! (PS.  Don’t make fun of how I’m holding!  No one even really showed me how you’re supposed to stand — just where your hands go!)

BunnyFriend – That is shocking. I work at a grocery store as well, and got 3 days worth of cashier training before I even was put on a register! They showed us how to do WIC, do price changes, and so on. I am shocked that the management just put you there with not much training, expecting you to be alright. To make matters worse, there are those produce codes that you have to remember -_-

@TL-I also love to target shoot! While I was growing up, my dad was a firearms dealer, so we were taught very young how to respect, shoot, and take care of many different types of guns. I really enjoy shooting and I’m glad that you enjoyed yourself! I would also love to do a shooting competition sometime. How did you do?

Really good actually! The 2nd gun I used had a scope though and we got a video of me blowing up some Tannerite (I think that’s what it’s called? ) so it was pretty hard to miss! With the handgun I missed about as much as I hit! It was really really cool though! I LOVED it.

Guns scare me. =\

And, second, my cousin was killed in his home by his best friend with a gun. Yeah. No guns around me, period.

Tanlover! You are so lucky! I went shooting once with my uncle when I was 16 wen I visiting my him and my aunt in Hawaii. He is a gun instructor so he knew I had an interest in firearms. Shooting is so much fun! I absolutely love it. =]

I just learned my father-in-law did the unthinkable again. I won’t talk about it, but I’m just so angry with him right now. My husband won’t let me say anything to him about it.

Random question. How long do you wait to follow up on a job application? That is, if you don’t hear from the potential employer first. I was thinking a week. Does that sound right?

Yes LBJ I would say 5 days-week.

I’d allow 10 days (incl the weekend) shortlisting can take several days depending on the position applied for.

As to the other. Do you think your FIL could tell the difference between crumbled rat bait pellets and conventional cupcake sprinkles ? 

Just kidding, it would be far easier to escape proscecution if you lured him into the woods, covered him in marinade and fed him to the nearest pack of hungry coyotes.

When my aunt was 16, she applied at a bank and went in there every week asking to be hired there. After some weeks of persistence, they finally gave her a job
I worked at a movie theater for my first job and had somewhat a similar experience as bunnyfriend. I was trained for concession as well as usher but they eventually wanted to train me in the box office. They kinda just showed me a couple buttons and then threw me in there one night by myself. I was so scared! I had no idea what was going on, though after a few weeks, I loved it! Most everyone hated box but it became my favorite position unfortunately the theater closed down now im an artist, freelance I guess you could say?

Oh my, teeth troubles.   3 weeks ago I got a new filling the old one was breaking up.  It is on the last bottom molar the hardest one to get to of course.   It was sensitive for a week.  I went in and we discussed it and it needs a crown cuz it is a deep filling.  I told the dentist I was scared to floss cuz it might break off the filling.  It went around the back of the tooth too. 

Dentist said oh no it won’t break off floss away.   Ok at the masjid for ramadan after eating I flossed to get the meat out.  And what happend.  Ping it come off and took some tooth with it. 

Ouweeee.  Now it was very sensitive.  I got up the next morning to call and see when they open.  Tuesdays they aren;t in.  I was gona sit at their front door til they came and see about this. There was an emergency # so at 7 am I called was given another # left msg.  The dentist called me and said it will be ok til tomorrow and the receptionist will call me with an appmnt. 

In the meantime my phone goes dead and I didn’t catch the msg about when to come in.  So I called the next day and the appmnt was in an hour.  I took the antibiotics (precaution cuz screws in my back) and went in.   The dentist said what time did you get up to call 6 am.  I said no 7am.  She said you must have been scared and worried I said yes I am.  she put a temp filling on it. 

Today I go in at 1 to get the crown.  My Mom is paying for all this.  What a blessing that is. 

Otherwise I would have it pulled.  OH I asked the dentist to just pull it out.  She said no  you need it to chew. I told her i got all these other teeth to chew with I doubt missing 1 will make a difference  lol. 

She and my Mom say oh no try to save your teeth they get all messed up when you get one pull they start shifting.

Ok so in 3 hours I go back.  I make sure i tell then I don’t want to see the needle or you will be peeling me off the ceiling.  Once I slapped at the needle and scared the dentist and it poked me on the nose lol.  I learned I don’t want to see the needle.

Thank you everyone for all your responses! It sounds like the is common thing unfortunately. I wish it weren’t true. Yesterday went SO much better! I was still at a register by myself but there was a different manager and she made sure I had someone bagging for me who could help me with transactions when I needed it. I made a couple mistakes but everyone was nice about it and understanding. LBJ10, no this isn’t my first job but it’s my first job as a cashier. LoveChaCha, gah that sounds so much better! I think that where I work thinks that training on a computer by yourself is a replacement for actual training. Do you work for a local grocery store or a major chain one?

bunnytowne: I’m sorry your having teeth troubles, doesn’t sound like fun . I got a filling a couple months ago and I can barely chew on my left side because it’s painful, I’ve been back to the dentist several times and nothing really has changed.

Bunnyfriend, I work at a major chain store. I did some stuff on the computer, like learning how to sell alcohol, what to look for if they are underage, etc. Yesterday was not good. One of the managers messed up the schedule 2 weeks in advance. She made me work 6 days in a row, 38 hours, instead of my usual 4 days a week, 27 hours! The assistants saw how upset that I was, and they are getting it fixed. I just don’t get it sometimes.. I’m just glad that I am going to school so that I don’t need to work retail for the rest of my life

tanlover: I think it’s great that you tried out shooting! Hubby and I have several guns and going to the range is lots of fun I do wish that they had instructed you better though, before handing you a gun. Leaning back like that isn’t safe and you could have hurt yourself The butt of the rifle looks like it could have banged up your shoulder or hit you in the face… NOT blaming you at all, I just think they should have made sure you were safe.

 Do you know what kind the handgun was? I have a little Sig P238 and it’s a hoot to shoot!

Apparently it is the alternator that is going out in my car. There’s a place in town to take it where they rebuild it for you. We have to wait until Monday though, so I will be without a car at least until Tuesday. I haven’t really driven it since Wednesday so that will make it almost a week. =\

Sorry LBJ about your car. I understand car issues. There are 2-3 recalls on my 11 year old car. I don’t get that but the recalls are scary and serious so I have to get it done. It’s just trying to find a time when I can go without my car is the problem

Yeah, owning a car sucks. Seems like things go wrong when you can least afford it.

So here’s something funny. My husband picked this card out for his mom.

I like owning a car We have an emergency fund set up for surprise expenses like car repairs and such. It helps.

What little savings we had is gone since I lost my graduate position. They were threatening to turn the utilities off. It will be awhile before I am able to put aside some money since I just barely got caught up on things this last month. =\

I used to have an old datsun I bought from a wreckers as I was in Bankruptcy at the time and was not allowed to own a vehicle over a certain value (which was fine as I couldn’t afford one anyway) discovered the junk and scrap yards are a great source of parts. Just because a car has been totalled in a wreck doesn’t mean the parts aren’t new or viable. Ring round your local wrecking yards and if your hubby is mechanically inclined then he should be able to install it. I had to replace my entire cooling system after the fan motor ceased and drove the fan through the radiator. Saved a bomb by using wreckers yard parts.
Also I got a Green Frog Card for you and lots of info on the project and how it started. Will get a postage address in a private message from you later.

1. Yeah, we have done that before. The place we are going will replace insides of the alternator, so it is sort of like buying a junk part. Supposed to be pretty cheap anyway.

LBJ, it is a long shot but you might be able to talk to some local churches and see if they have someone in their congregation that could help you and accept small payments…? It happened for my family once! We were shocked by the generosity.

Well, I survived dog sitting. It was pretty fun, overall, despite one of the dogs getting sick and throwing up all over the place. He is fine, he just ate something funky in the back yard. Huck is happy to have me home, and the bf seems to be pretty happy about it too. And, now that I have the money from that, I can replace the tire on our car! It blew out about three weeks ago and we have been on a doughnut ever since. SCARY!

Huckleberry – I don’t think that will be necessary at this point. If my husband can do it as cheap as he thinks, then we can hopefully come up with the money from somewhere. Hundreds of dollars would be bad.
I would be scared driving around on a doughnut and no spare. We had the belt break inside one of my tires last year when we were going down the interstate in the middle of no where. There was a bulge in the tire, I can’t believe it didn’t burst.

Gosh, animals are expensive. Went to the barn yesterday to have a nice relaxing ride with my horse. Ive been so stressed out lately about Stormy and vet bills. So I get there to find my horse doing this awful, heavy, super rapid breathing. Had to have the vet out. Turns out she had an allergic reaction to something and needed like 4 shots and medication. Cost me $300. Of course, had to happen after hours when they charge time and a half. If shes not better by Tuesday, have to get some more meds which will cost another $150.00. That was relaxing!!!!

I dont usually drink but think I might have a few tonight at the Slash concert. Im so excited! Its sold out and Ive been looking forward to it for months. I love Slash (former amazing Guns N Roses guitarist for those who dont know). Hes touring with Myles Kennedy whose voice Im totally in love with. He also happens to be nice eye candy. Now just got to drink a whole load of coffee to be able to make it through the whole thing tonight. Im exhausted, I got up at 5:30 am.

Ditch the coffee. Get yourself some tasty zingy low GI snacks. The coffee will give you a short term lift then let you crash and burn. Also avoid bread and pasta. Have a great time!!!!
